Novel Delivery Systems for Transdermal and Intradermal Drug Delivery

This research book covers the major aspects relating to the use of novel delivery systems in enhancing both transdermal and intradermal drug delivery. It provides a review of transdermal and intradermal drug delivery, including the history of the field and the various methods employed to produce delivery systems from different materials such as device design, construction and evaluation, so as to provide a sound background to the use of novel systems in enhanced delivery applications.

Furthermore, it presents in-depth analyses of recent developments in this exponentially growing field, with a focus on microneedle arrays, needle-free injections, nanoparticulate systems and peptide-carrier-type systems. It also covers conventional physical enhancement strategies, such as tape-stripping, sonophoresis, iontophoresis, electroporation and thermal/suction/laser ablation Discussions about the penetration of the stratum corneum by the various novel strategies highlight the importance of the application method. Understanding Risk: Contributions from the Journal of Risk and Governance

During recent years, news headlines have been rife with criticisms of the risk management practices of public and private sector entities. These criticisms have often been accompanied by calls for greater transparency in the way government entities manage risks and communicate dangers to the public. Manlig eller kvinnligförfattare? : En analys av pocketböckersomslagsdesign utifrån ett genusperspektiv.

Böcker är, trots ett generellt minskat intresse, fortfarande en viktig del av vårtkulturella samhälle. Att böckers utseende anpassas efter sin målgrupp är ingetovanligt men frågan är om även könet på författaren spelar in gällandeutformningen av omslaget.Syftet med studien var därför att genom en visuell innehållsanalys av böckerspocketomslag kartlägga de skillnader som återfinns på manliga respektivekvinnliga författares omslag.Denna undersökning har baserats på en visuell innehållsanalys där 200pocketomslag analyserades, 100 från svenska författare och 100 från engelskaförfattare. Dessa var därefter jämlikt fördelade mellan könen. I analysenreflekteras det över pocketböckernas motiv, dominerande färg, typsnittsfamiljersamt typsnittsfärger.Resultatet från undersökningen tyder på att kvinnliga författare har ettfemininare utseende på sina böcker överlag, och att svenska kvinnligaförfattares omslag uppvisade flest tecken på en femininare utformning. Det gårdock inte att utesluta att böckernas genre kan ha ett inflytande gällandeböckernas utformning, då det var svårt att precisera genren på många böckeröverlag.

This article intends to contribute to the Brazilian design history through a study of a selection of book covers produced in 1960 decade by Vicente Di Grado (1922 - 2004), who was the main cover artist and illustrator of a publishing house named Clube do Livro. The covers were analysed considering their visual and contextual syntax and in their relations with information design.

The book was published in 1996 with a forward by Vernie A. Stembridge, MD, the Ashbel Smith Professor and Chairman Emeritus of Pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. The book covers the story of pathology from the "performance of crude autopsies" on the frontier through the emergence of bacteriology and immunology and beyond.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo os enunciados verbais e/ou não-verbais impressos em capas de livros - escritos por autores brasileiros e adaptados para o cinema ou para a televisão - que associam o livro à produção cinematográfica ou televisiva. Seu objetivo foi verificar se tais enunciados poderiam ou não ser classificados como paratexto - conforme é conceituado por Gerard Genette. A motivação para esta pesquisa surgiu pela constatação de que, em sendo aqueles enunciados construídos a partir de uma obra derivada de um livro, em que medida eles poderiam estar a serviço do texto principal? Para responder a essa questão, os enunciados foram analisados segundo os conceitos da análise do discurso e da análise retórica. Os resultados obtidos na análise permitiram concluir que alguns enunciados não se configuram como paratextuais e, com base nos conceitos da Teoria Crítica, possibilitam compreender, criticamente, os procedimentos editoriais com que o livro se relaciona com os demais produtos midiáticos.(AU)
