A combined mass and particle identification fit is used to make the first observation of the decay Bs --> Ds K and measure the branching fraction of Bs --> Ds K relative to Bs --> Ds pi. This analysis uses 1.2 fb^-1 integrated luminosity of pbar-p collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We observe a Bs --> Ds K signal with a statistical significance of 8.1 sigma and measure Br(Bs --> Ds K)/Br(Bs --> Ds pi) = 0.097 +- 0.018(stat) +- 0.009(sys).

An important yet unsolved problem in the field of orientational relaxation in dipolar liquids is the dependence of the correlation functions C(l)(t), C(l)(t) = [4pi/(2l + 1)SIGMA(m = -l)l [Y(lm)(OMEGA(0)Y(lm)(OMEGA(t))] on the rank l (where Y(lm)(OMEGA) are the usual spherical harmonics). The existing theories on this effect differ in their predictions. To investigate this, we have carried out extensive computer simulations of a Brownian dipolar lattice. The dielectric friction was found to decrease rapidly with increasing l, in qualitative agreement with the predictions of Hubbard-Wolynes. However, the observed effect is much stronger than the predictions of the existing theories.

Two new statistics, namely Delta(chi 2) and Delta(chi), based on the extreme value theory, were derived by Gupta et al. We use these statistics to study the direction dependence in the HST Key Project data, which provides one of the most precise measurements of the Hubble constant. We also study the non-Gaussianity in this data set using these statistics. Our results for Delta(chi 2) show that the significance of direction-dependent systematics is restricted to well below the 1 sigma confidence limit; however, the presence of non-Gaussian features is subtle. On the other hand, the Delta(chi). statistic, which is more sensitive to direction dependence, shows direction dependence systematics to be at a slightly higher confidence level, and the presence of non-Gaussian features at a level similar to the Delta(chi 2) statistic.

The growth behaviour of zero-mean-shear turbulent-mixed layer containing suspended solid particles has been studied experimentally and analysed theoretically in a two-layer fluid system. The potential model for estimating the turbulent entrainment rate of the mixed layer has also been suggested, including the results of the turbulent entrainment for pure two-layer fluid. The experimental results show that the entrainment behaviour of a mixed layer with the suspended particles is well described by the model. The relationship between the entrainment distance and the time, and the variation of the dimensionless entrainment rate E with the local Richardson number Ri1 for the suspended particles differ from that for the pure two-layer fluid by the factors-eta-1/5 and eta-1, respectively, where eta = 1 + sigma-0-DELTA-rho/DELTA-rho-0.

晶界结构在高温下的热稳定性问题是一个长期争论而又未能解决的问题,其争论的焦点是:在远低于熔点的温度下,晶界结构是否发生了可观察到的无序化,即是否存在一个远低于熔点的结构转化温度。为了能澄清这一争论,本文系统地研究了晶界结构的热稳定性。为了消除相互作用势的影响和系统误差,本文首先采用Morse势和经验多体势分别对铝、铜单晶的熔化过程进行了分子动力学模拟。在平衡态下,通过计算表征结构无序化的静态结构因子、径向分布函数和单晶原子位形图,获得了铝、铜单晶的熔点,结果表明:多体势计算的铝和铜的单晶熔点更接近实验值。因此,采用经验多体势应用分子动力学方法分别模拟了铝、铜Σ3、Σ5、Σ9、Σ11、Σ19、Σ33六种对称倾侧双晶晶界晶界结构由有序向无序转化的过程,计算了平衡态下的表征结构无序化的静态结构因子、径向分布函数和晶界原子位形图并将多体势获得的铝、铜单晶熔点作为晶界结构转化温度的约化熔点,获得了铝、铜Σ3、Σ5、Σ9、Σ11、Σ19、Σ33六种对称倾侧双晶晶界结构的转化温度和熔点,结果表明:1.Σ5、Σ9、Σ11、Σ19、Σ33五种对称倾侧双晶晶界均在远低于单晶熔点温度时,晶界结构发生了可观察到的无序化,而且双晶晶界结构的转变温度相差不大,双晶晶界熔点也低于单晶熔点。2.Σ3晶界在温度远低于熔点时,其晶界结构没有发生可观察到的无序化;Σ3晶界的转化温度与单晶熔点接近。所以,可以认为Σ3晶界不存在转化温度。这是由于Σ3晶界为共格孪晶,具有较低的能量。综上所述,除Σ3共格孪晶外,在远低于熔点温度下,晶界结构发生了可观察到的无序化,即:存在一个远低于熔点的转化温度,此时其静态结构因子约为0.5左右;晶界结构的熔点均低于单晶熔点,此时其静态结构因子约为0.15左右。从全文模拟结果可以看出,静态结构因子、径向分布函数、晶界原子位形图三种方法在确定晶界的结构转化温度和熔点时,静态结构因子是最有效、最准确的定量方法。

We review the appropriateness of using SNIa observations to detect potential signatures of anisotropic expansion in the Universe. We focus on Union2 and SNLS3 SNIa datasets and use the hemispherical comparison method to detect possible anisotropic features. Unlike some previous works where nondiagonal elements of the covariance matrix were neglected, we use the full covariance matrix of the SNIa data, thus obtaining more realistic and not underestimated errors. As a matter of fact, the significance of previously claimed detections of a preferred direction in the Union2 dataset completely disappears once we include the effects of using the full covariance matrix. Moreover, we also find that such apreferred direction is aligned with the orthogonal direction of the SDSS observational plane and this suggests a clear indication that the SDSS subsample of the Union2 dataset introduces a significant bias, making the detected preferred direction unphysical. We thus find that current SNIa surveys are inappropriate to test anisotropic features due to their highly non-homogeneous angular distribution in the sky. In addition, after removal of the highest in homogeneous sub-samples, the number of SNIa is too low. Finally, we take advantage of the particular distribution of SNLS SNIa sub- sample in the SNLS3 data set, in which the observations were taken along four different directions. We fit each direction independently and find consistent results at the 1 sigma level. Although the likelihoods peak at relatively different values of Omega(m), the low number of data along each direction gives rise to large errors so that the likelihoods are sufficiently broad as to overlap within 1 sigma. The predissociation decay behavior of molecule carbonyl sulfide (OCS) has been investigated by resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization spectroscopy using the pump-probe technique of dichroic femtosecond lasers in real time. The lifetime of excited OCS around 74 720 cm(-1) by two-photon absorption of 268 nm, corresponding to upsilon(1)=1 of the Rydberg state [(2)Pi(1/2)]4ppi((1)Sigma(+)), is directly determined to be tau(D)=1071+/-11 fs. This picosecond decay process indicates that the excited state is predissociative. The temporal information of dissociation enriches the knowledge of the potential-energy surface of the associative excited state.

Equilibrium geometries, vibrational frequencies, and dissociation energies of the transition metal carbonyls MCO (M = Nb, Ta, Rh, Ir, Pd, Pt) were studied by use of diverse density functional methods B3LYP, BLYP, B3P86, B3PW91, BHLYP, BP86, and PBE1PBE. It was found that the ground electronic state is (6)Sigma(+) for NbCO and TaCO, (2)Sigma(+) for RhCO,(2)Delta for IrCO, and (1)Sigma(+) for PdCO and PtCO, in agreement with previous theoretical studies. The calculated properties are highly dependent on the functionals employed, in particular for the dissociation energy. For most of the molecules, the predicted bond distance is in agreement with experiments and previous theoretical results. BHLYP is the worst method in reproducing the experimental results compared with the other density functional methods for the title molecules.

琼脂(agar,又称琼胶)作为世界三大工业海藻胶之一,被广泛应用于食品、医药、生物技术、造纸等领域。本文首先研究了琼脂的分级方法,用DEAE-Cellulose将石花菜琼脂分级,得到四个级分,即水级分、0.5mol/L NaCl级分、1.0mol/L NaCl级分、2.5mol/L NaCl级分。分析了各级分的理化性质,并通过IR和~(13)C-NMR光谱研究其化学结构。石花菜琼脂分级得到的四个级分中,水级分的硫酸基含量为0.16%,凝胶强度为1130 g/cm~2(1%浓度),电内渗(EEO)为0.12,主要质量标准为Sigma公司的低电内渗琼脂糖(agarose)产品接近,符合低电内渗琼脂糖产品的质量要求。1.0mol/L NaCl级分和2.5mol/L NaCl级分的硫酸基含量较高,分别为22.8%和32.5%,合称为硫琼脂(agaropectin)。在琼脂糖的应用中,特别是现代生物技术研究中,需要低凝固温度琼脂糖。本文以石花菜琼脂分级得到的水级分为原料,采用甲基化反应制备低凝固温度琼脂糖。实验产品的凝固温度为30.1 ℃(1.5%浓度),融化温度为64.8 ℃(1.5%浓度),凝胶强度为264 g/cm~2(1%浓度),主要质量标准与Sigma公司的低凝固温度琼脂糖产品接近,符合低凝固温度琼脂糖产品的质量要求。随着对多糖生物学功能的深入,海藻硫酸多糖表现出多种生物活性,其活性研究已经成为目前新药研究的一个热点。到目前为止,有关琼脂分级产物的生物活性研究较少。本文在研究石菜硫琼脂的组成和主要理化特性的基础上,对基体内外抗凝血活性进行了较系统的研究。新西兰兔腹主动脉血体外抗凝实验结果表明,石花菜硫琼脂具有明显的体外抗凝血活性,在3.125mg/ml ~ 25mg/ml剂量范围内呈现量效关系;大鼠体内抗凝血实验的结果表明其口服可以吸收,在体内产生抗凝血作用,在100 mg/kg·d ~ 400 mg/kg·d剂量范围内,与全血凝血时间(CT)、凝血酶时间(TT)、凝血酶原时间(PT)、部分凝血活酶时间(KPTT)的延长及血浆纤维蛋白原(Fib)含量的降低均呈剂量依赖关系。就其抗凝血机制而言,石花菜硫琼脂的抗凝血作用既影响凝血系统,又影响纤溶系统。

A mechanistic model is developed to present the photosynthetic response of phytoplankton to irradiance at the physiological level. The model is operated on photosynthetic units (PSU), and each PSU is assumed to have two states: reactive and activated. Light absorption that drives a reactive PSU into the activated state results from the effective absorption of the PSU. Transitions between the two states are asymmetrical in rate. A PSU in the reactive state becomes activated much faster than it recovers from the activated state to the reactive one. The turnover time for an activated PSU to transit into the reactive one is defined by the turnover time of the electron transport chain. The present model yields a photosynthesis-irradiance curve (PE-curve) in a hyperbola, which is described by three physiological parameters: effective cross-section (sigma (PSII)), turnover time of electron transport chain (tau) and number of PSUs (N). The PE-curve has an initial slope of sigma (PSII) x N, a half-saturated irradiance of 1/(sigma (PSII)), and a maximal photosynthetic rate of Nlc at the saturated irradiance. The PE-curve from the present model is comparable to the empirical function based on the target theory described by the Poisson distribution. (C) 2001 Academic Press.

本文利用“最小响应法”给出了 N≥2阶无静差采样控制系统的设计公式.作者指出:对于某类闭环控制系统,在给定阶跃响应最大超调量σ_(max)的条件下,可以找出最佳比值T/T_(T 为系统的采样周期,T_(?)为对象的不便克服的等效小时间常数之和),使系统获得相应阶最大误差系数 K_(N+1),从而可使系统达到快速精密的控制指标。为了在工程设计中应用方便,文中还给出了二至六阶无静差的σ_(max),T/T_(?),K_(N+1)T(?)最佳参数组,使得这类闭环控制系统的设计最佳化和简易化.

We present here vertical fluxes of oxygenated volatile organic compounds (OVOCs) measured with eddy covariance (EC) during the period of March to July 2012 near the southwest coast of the United Kingdom. The performance of the proton-transfer-reaction mass spectrometer (PTR-MS) for flux measurement is characterized, with additional considerations given to the homogeneity and stationarity assumptions required by EC. Observed mixing ratios and fluxes of OVOCs (specifically methanol, acetaldehyde, and acetone) vary significantly with time of day and wind direction. Higher mixing ratios and fluxes of acetaldehyde and acetone are found in the daytime and from the direction of a forested park, most likely due to light-driven emissions from terrestrial plants. Methanol mixing ratio and flux do not demonstrate consistent diel variability, suggesting sources in addition to plants. We estimate air-sea exchange and photochemical rates of these compounds, which are compared to measured vertical fluxes. For acetaldehyde, the mean (1 sigma) mixing ratio of 0.13 (0.02) ppb at night may be maintained by oceanic emission, while photochemical destruction out-paces production during the day. Air-sea exchange and photochemistry are probably net sinks of methanol and acetone in this region. Their nighttime mixing ratios of 0.46 (0.20) and 0.39 (0.08) ppb appear to be affected more by terrestrial emissions and long-distance transport, respectively.

Accurate assessment of anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and their redistribution among the atmosphere, ocean, and terrestrial biosphere is important to better understand the global carbon cycle, support the development of climate policies, and project future climate change. Here we describe data sets and a methodology to quantify all major components of the global carbon budget, including their uncertainties, based on the combination of a range of data, algorithms, statistics, and model estimates and their interpretation by a broad scientific community. We discuss changes compared to previous estimates, consistency within and among components, alongside methodology and data limitations. CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion and cement production (E-FF) are based on energy statistics and cement production data, respectively, while emissions from land-use change (E-LUC), mainly deforestation, are based on combined evidence from land-cover-change data, fire activity associated with deforestation, and models. The global atmospheric CO2 concentration is measured directly and its rate of growth (G(ATM)) is computed from the annual changes in concentration. The mean ocean CO2 sink (S-OCEAN) is based on observations from the 1990s, while the annual anomalies and trends are estimated with ocean models. The variability in S-OCEAN is evaluated with data products based on surveys of ocean CO2 measurements. The global residual terrestrial CO2 sink (S-LAND) is estimated by the difference of the other terms of the global carbon budget and compared to results of independent dynamic global vegetation models forced by observed climate, CO2, and land-cover-change (some including nitrogen-carbon interactions). We compare the mean land and ocean fluxes and their variability to estimates from three atmospheric inverse methods for three broad latitude bands. All uncertainties are reported as +/- 1 sigma, reflecting the current capacity to characterise the annual estimates of each component of the global carbon budget. For the last decade available (2004-2013), E-FF was 8.9 +/- 0.4 GtC yr(-1), E-LUC 0.9 +/- 0.5 GtC yr(-1), G(ATM) 4.3 +/- 0.1 GtC yr(-1), S-OCEAN 2.6 +/- 0.5 GtC yr(-1), and S-LAND 2.9 +/- 0.8 GtC yr(-1). For year 2013 alone, E-FF grew to 9.9 +/- 0.5 GtC yr(-1), 2.3% above 2012, continuing the growth trend in these emissions, E-LUC was 0.9 +/- 0.5 GtC yr(-1), G(ATM) was 5.4 +/- 0.2 GtC yr(-1), S-OCEAN was 2.9 +/- 0.5 GtC yr(-1), and S-LAND was 2.5 +/- 0.9 GtC yr(-1). G(ATM) was high in 2013, reflecting a steady increase in E-FF and smaller and opposite changes between S-OCEAN and S-LAND compared to the past decade (2004-2013). The global atmospheric CO2 concentration reached 395.31 +/- 0.10 ppm averaged over 2013. We estimate that E-FF will increase by 2.5% (1.3-3.5 %) to 10.1 +/- 0.6 GtC in 2014 (37.0 +/- 2.2 GtCO(2) yr(-1)), 65% above emissions in 1990, based on projections of world gross domestic product and recent changes in the carbon intensity of the global economy. From this projection of E-FF and assumed constant E-LUC for 2014, cumulative emissions of CO2 will reach about 545 +/- 55 GtC (2000 +/- 200 GtCO(2)) for 1870-2014, about 75% from E-FF and 25% from E-LUC. This paper documents changes in the methods and data sets used in this new carbon budget compared with previous publications of this living data set (Le Quere et al., 2013, 2014).
