Con este proyecto se pretende facilitar y apoyar la incorporación a un modelo educativo normalizado de los niños de la Celsa, en su mayoría gitanos, como consecuencia del proceso de realojo de esta población marginal. Los objetivos son: apoyar la escolarización de los niños de la Celsa; potenciar las relaciones interpersonales; favorecer la reproducción de modelos sociales acordes al medio en que van a vivir; fomentar el proceso de aprendizaje, salvando las lagunas y el retraso que padecen estos alumnos en todas las áreas de conocimiento; y desarrollar las capacidades de abstracción, análisis y síntesis. Las actuaciones educativas se diseñan teniendo en cuenta la fase de realojo en la que se encuentra cada alumno. El seguimiento y apoyo a estos alumnos lo realiza un profesor del colegio María Pascual, un asistente social y el equipo de Educación Compensatoria de la zona en la que se vaya a producir el realojo. Se diseñan una serie de actividades conjuntas entre los distintos centros: concienciación y participación de los padres, aplicación de un programa de refuerzo en técnicas instrumentales, desarrollo de hábitos y normas sociales (puntualidad, limpieza e higiene, asistencia, cuidado y compra de material, valoración del trabajo, etc.) y socialización (intercambios con otros centros, actividades extraescolares y deportivas)..

The first examples of sigmatropic rearrangements of ene-endo-spirocyclic, tetrahydropyridine-derived ammonium ylids are reported. Thus, spiro[6.7]-ylids rearrange primarily by a [2,3]-pathway, whereas the analogous [6.6]-ylids rearrange by [1,2]- and [2,3]-mechanisms in roughly equal proportions. This method serves as a rapid entry to the core of a range of alkaloids bearing a pyrrolo[1,2-a]azepine or octahydroindolizidine nucleus.

Metathesis reactions were used to prepare a range of dicopper(II), monocopper(I), diruthenium(II, III), dimolybdenum(II,II) and dirhodium(II,II) complexes of either racemic or resolved forms of endo- and exo-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2-carboxylic acid (C7H9CO2H). The X-ray crystal structure of [Cu2{(±)-endo-μ-O2CC7H9}4(CH3OH)2]·2CH3OH shows the two copper(II) ions bridged by two (+)-endo-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2-carboxylate anions and two (−)-endo-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2-carboxylate anions. Methanol molecules occupy the two trans axial sites, and there are also two methanol molecules hydrogen bonded to opposite carboxyl oxygens.

Northern Hemisphere tropical cyclone (TC) activity is investigated in multiyear global climate simulations with theECMWFIntegrated Forecast System (IFS) at 10-km resolution forced by the observed records of sea surface temperature and sea ice. The results are compared to analogous simulationswith the 16-, 39-, and 125-km versions of the model as well as observations. In the North Atlantic, mean TC frequency in the 10-km model is comparable to the observed frequency, whereas it is too low in the other versions. While spatial distributions of the genesis and track densities improve systematically with increasing resolution, the 10-km model displays qualitatively more realistic simulation of the track density in the western subtropical North Atlantic. In the North Pacific, the TC count tends to be too high in thewest and too low in the east for all resolutions. These model errors appear to be associated with the errors in the large-scale environmental conditions that are fairly similar in this region for all model versions. The largest benefits of the 10-km simulation are the dramatically more accurate representation of the TC intensity distribution and the structure of the most intense storms. The model can generate a supertyphoon with a maximum surface wind speed of 68.4 m s21. The life cycle of an intense TC comprises intensity fluctuations that occur in apparent connection with the variations of the eyewall/rainband structure. These findings suggest that a hydrostatic model with cumulus parameterization and of high enough resolution could be efficiently used to simulate the TC intensity response (and the associated structural changes) to future climate change.

On the 8 January 2005 the city of Carlisle in north-west England was severely flooded following 2 days of almost continuous rain over the nearby hills. Orographic enhancement of the rain through the seeder–feeder mechanism led to the very high rainfall totals. This paper shows the impact of running the Met Office Unified Model (UM) with a grid spacing of 4 and 1 km compared to the 12 km available at the time of the event. These forecasts, and forecasts from the Nimrod nowcasting system, were fed into the Probability Distributed Model (PDM) to predict river flow at the outlets of two catchments important for flood warning. The results show the benefit of increased resolution in the UM, the benefit of coupling the high-resolution rainfall forecasts to the PDM and the improvement in timeliness of flood warning that might have been possible. Quasi-simultaneous vertically resolved multiwavelength aerosol Raman lidar observations were conducted in the near field (Praia, Cape Verde, 15 degrees N, 23.5 degrees W) and in the far field (Manaus, Amazon basin, Brazil, 2.5 degrees S, 60 degrees W) of the long-range transport regime between West Africa and South America. Based on a unique data set (case study) of spectrally resolved backscatter and extinction coefficients, and of the depolarization ratio a detailed characterization of aerosol properties, vertical stratification, mixing, and aging behavior during the long-distance travel in February 2008 (dry season in western Africa, wet season in the Amazon basin) is presented. While highly stratified aerosol layers of dust and smoke up to 5.5 km height were found close to Africa, the aerosol over Manaus was almost well-mixed, reached up to 3.5 km, and mainly consisted of aged biomass burning smoke. Immunohistochemistry was used to analyze the rat brain distribution of thimet oligopeptidase and neurolysin. Both enzymes appear ubiquitously distributed within the entire rat brain. However, neuronal perikarya and processes stained for neurolysin, while intense nuclear labeling was only observed for thimet oligopeptidase. These data suggest that neurolysin and thimet oligopeptidase, endopeptidases sharing several functional and structural similarities, are present in distinctive intracellular compartments in neuronal cells. A Organizaçãao Mundial da Sáude caracteriza o trânsito como um problema de sáude pública, motivo pelo qual se justificam as preocupações e os esforços de diversos países em criar políticas que venham a frear os índices cada vez mais crescentes de acidentes de trânsito que trazem prejuízos sociais e financeiros a todos. Neste sentido, a conservação da infraestrutura das rodovias ganha um papel relevante nas discussões que tratam os acidentes e suas causas, vez que a infraestrutura de uma rodovia pode ser apontada como um fator determinante para tais ocorrências. Diante disto, esta dissertação tem como objetivo investigar de que forma a precariedade estrutural da Rodovia Federal BR 316, entre os quilômetros 0 ao 10, potencializou a ocorrência de acidentes de trânsito nos anos de 2009 a 2012. Para tanto, lançou-se mão de uma metodologia baseada em explorações teóricas aliadas a análise de informações provenientes do banco de dados da Polícia Rodoviária Federal e pesquisa de campo, materializada a partir da apresentação de fotos ilustrativas do trecho pesquisado, possibilitando o desenvolvimento de um novo Índice de Qualidade para a Rodovia. Os dados colhidos foram tratados a partir da aplicação das técnicas estatísticas análise descritiva e análise multivariada a fim de confirmar a hipótese suscitada. Destaque-se que, no trecho pesquisado o fluxo de veículos e pedestres é intenso e, além, é um intervalo quilométrico que apresenta diversos problemas estruturais como, por exemplo, o aumento e a diminuição do número de pistas de rolamento, a má qualidade dos retornos, a falta de segurança e higiene das passarelas, a descontinuidade dos acostamentos, a inadequação das paradas de ônibus, enfim. No que tange à acidentes e às suas causas, pôde-se constatar que no ano de 2010 houveram mais ocorrências, especialmente, do tipo colisão com bicicleta, colisão com objeto móvel, colisão frontal e colisão transversal, motivadas por desobediência à sinalização, velocidade incompatível, ingestão de álcool, dentre outros. Finalmente, deve-se ressaltar o fato de que nos trechos considerados ruins, além da falta de atenção, a principal causa de acidentes é o defeito na via, corroborando-se então, a hipótese que a precariedade da infraestrutura da rodovia potencializou as ocorrências de acidentes de trânsito, no período de 2009 a 2012. Diante disto, é possível afirmar que o acidente de trânsito é um fato social, consubstanciando como um problema que abarca aspectos sociopolíticos e culturais da sociedade moderna, mas que também é potencializado pelo estado de conservação estrutural das Rodovias.

[EN] Filaments are narrow, shallow structures of cool water originating from the coast. They are typical features of the four main eastern boundary upwelling systems (EBUS). In spite of their significant biological and chemical roles, through the offshore exportation of nutrient-rich waters, the physical processes that generate them are still not completely understood. This paper is a process-oriented study of filament generation mechanisms. Our goal is twofold: firstly, to obtain a numerical solution able to well represent the characteristics of the filament off Cape Ghir (30°38'N, northwestern Africa) in the Canary EBUS and secondly, to explain its formation by a simple mechanism based on the balance of potential vorticity. The first goal is achieved by the use of the ROMS model (Regional Ocean Modeling System) in embedded domains around Cape Ghir, with a horizontal resolution going up to 1.5 km for the finest domain. The latter gets its initial and boundary conditions from a parent solution and is forced by climatological, high-resolution atmospheric fields. The modeled filaments display spatial, temporal and physical characteristics in agreement with the available in situ and satellite observations. This model solution is used as a reference to compare the results with a set of process-oriented experiments. These experiments allow us to reach the second objective. Their respective solution serves to highlight the contribution of various processes in the filament generation. Since the study is focused on general processes present under climatological forcing conditions, inter-annual forcing is not necessary. The underlying idea for the filament generation is the balance of potential vorticity in the Canary EBUS: the upwelling jet is characterized by negative relative vorticity and flows southward along a narrow band of uniform potential vorticity. In the vicinity of the cape, an injection of relative vorticity induced by the wind breaks the existing vorticity balance. The upwelling jet is prevented from continuing its way southward and has to turn offshore to follow lines of equal potential vorticity. The model results highlight the essential role of wind, associated with the particular topography (coastline and bottom) around the cape. The mechanism presented here is general and thus can be applied to other EBUS.

[ES]Este trabajo estudia la obra poética que dedica la autora feminista y anglo-francesa Michèle Roberts al mito de Deméter y Perséfone. A través de seis poemas presentados correlativamente, Roberts recorre la historia mitológica de dos mujeres simbólicas para reescribir y reinterpretar distintas percepciones del mito que engloba a las heroínas. Pasado y presente se corresponden, así como las valoraciones de la alegoría ficticia y la cultura contemporánea. En los poemas de Roberts, las narrativas en primera y tercera persona se entrelazan para tratar diversos temas como la relación entre madre e hija, el matrimonio, el ataque sexual, la identidad de las protagonistas, el inconsciente, el nacimiento y la muerte.

Lake water temperature (LWT) is an important driver of lake ecosystems and it has been identified as an indicator of climate change. Consequently, the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) lists LWT as an essential climate variable. Although for some European lakes long in situ time series of LWT do exist, many lakes are not observed or only on a non-regular basis making these observations insufficient for climate monitoring. Satellite data can provide the information needed. However, only few satellite sensors offer the possibility to analyse time series which cover 25 years or more. The Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) is among these and has been flown as a heritage instrument for almost 35 years. It will be carried on for at least ten more years, offering a unique opportunity for satellite-based climate studies. Herein we present a satellite-based lake surface water temperature (LSWT) data set for European water bodies in or near the Alps based on the extensive AVHRR 1 km data record (1989–2013) of the Remote Sensing Research Group at the University of Bern. It has been compiled out of AVHRR/2 (NOAA-07, -09, -11, -14) and AVHRR/3 (NOAA-16, -17, -18, -19 and MetOp-A) data. The high accuracy needed for climate related studies requires careful pre-processing and consideration of the atmospheric state. The LSWT retrieval is based on a simulation-based scheme making use of the Radiative Transfer for TOVS (RTTOV) Version 10 together with ERA-interim reanalysis data from the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts. The resulting LSWTs were extensively compared with in situ measurements from lakes with various sizes between 14 and 580 km2 and the resulting biases and RMSEs were found to be within the range of −0.5 to 0.6 K and 1.0 to 1.6 K, respectively. The upper limits of the reported errors could be rather attributed to uncertainties in the data comparison between in situ and satellite observations than inaccuracies of the satellite retrieval. An inter-comparison with the standard Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Land Surface Temperature product exhibits RMSEs and biases in the range of 0.6 to 0.9 and −0.5 to 0.2 K, respectively. The cross-platform consistency of the retrieval was found to be within ~ 0.3 K. For one lake, the satellite-derived trend was compared with the trend of in situ measurements and both were found to be similar. Thus, orbital drift is not causing artificial temperature trends in the data set. A comparison with LSWT derived through global sea surface temperature (SST) algorithms shows lower RMSEs and biases for the simulation-based approach. A running project will apply the developed method to retrieve LSWT for all of Europe to derive the climate signal of the last 30 years. The data are available at doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.831007.

The deeply eroded West Gondwana Orogen is a major continental collision zone that exposes numerous occurrences of deeply subducted rocks, such as eclogites. The position of these eclogites marks the suture zone between colliding cratons, and the age of metamorphism constrains the transition from subduction-dominated tectonics to continental collision and mountain building. Here we investigate the metamorphic conditions and age of high-pressure and ultrahigh-pressure eclogites from Mali, Togo and NE-Brazil and demonstrate that continental subduction occurred within 20 million years over at least a 2,500-km-long section of the orogen during the Ediacaran. We consider this to be the earliest evidence of large-scale deep-continental subduction and consequent appearance of Himalayan-scale mountains in the geological record. The rise and subsequent erosion of such mountains in the Late Ediacaran is perfectly timed to deliver sediments and nutrients that are thought to have been necessary for the subsequent evolution of sustainable life on Earth.

During the German Antarctic Expedition 1979/80, the sea ice conditions in the Weddell Sea were studied along the ice shelf between Cape Fiske (root of the Antarctlc Peninsula) and Atka Bay. Most intensively was the sea ice investigated in an area about 100 km northwest of Berkner Island, where a suitable site for the German station was found. In addition to the drift conditions, ice thickness as weIl as temperature and salinity of the ice were measured and the mechanical properties established. Several ice cores were taken back to Germany, where the compressive strength was measured in respect to strain rate, salinity, depth and temperature.

In the present paper ground truth and remotely sensed datasets were used for the investigation and quantification of the impact of Saharan dust on microwave propagation, the verification of theoretical results, and the validation of wind speeds determined by satellite microwave sensors. The influence of atmospheric dust was verified in two different study areas by investigations of single dust storms, wind statistics, wind speed scatter plots divided by the strength of Saharan dust storms, and wind speed differences in dependence of microwave frequencies and dust component of aerosol optical depth. An increase of the deviations of satellite wind speeds to ground truth wind speeds with higher microwave frequencies, with stronger dust storms, and with higher amount of coarse dust aerosols in coastal regions was obtained. Strong Saharan dust storms in coastal areas caused mean relative errors in the determination of wind speed by satellite microwave sensors of 16.3% at 10.7 GHz and of 20.3% at 37 GHz. The mean relative errors were smaller in the open sea area with 3.7% at 10.7 GHz and with 11.9% at 37 GHz.
