The homogeneous Lippmann-Schwinger integral equation is solved in momentum space by using confining potentials. Since the confining potentials are unbounded at large distances, they lead to a singularity at small momentum. In order to remove the singularity of the kernel of the integral equation, a regularized form of the potentials is used. As an application of the method, the mass spectra of heavy quarkonia, mesons consisting from heavy quark and antiquark (Υ(bb̄), ψ(cc̄)), are calculated for linear and quadratic confining potentials. The results are in good agreement with configuration space and experimental results. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

We study hadronic annihilation decays of B mesons within the perturbative QCD at collinear approximation. The regulation of endpoint divergences is performed with the help of an infrared finite gluon propagator characterized by a non-perturbative dynamical gluon mass. The divergences at twist-3 are regulated by a dynamical quark mass. Our results fit quite well the existent data of B 0→D s-K + and B 0→ D s-*K + for the expected range of dynamical gluon masses. We also make predictions for the rare decays B 0→K -K +, B s0→π -π +, π 0π 0, B +→D s(*) +K̄ 0, B 0→D s±(*)K ± and B s0 →D±(*) π ±, D 0π 0. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

We consider some existing relativistic models for the nucleon structure functions, relying on statistical approaches instead of perturbative ones. These models are based on the Fermi-Dirac distribution for the confined quarks, where a density of energy levels is obtained from an effective confining potential. In this context, it is presented some results obtained with a recent statistical quark model for the sea-quark asymmetry in the nucleon. It is shown, within this model, that experimental available observables, such as the ratio and difference between proton and neutron structure functions, are quite well reproduced with just three parameters: two chemical potentials used to reproduce the valence up and down quark numbers in the nucleon, and a temperature that is being used to reproduce the Gottfried sum rule violation. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

We present a nonperturbative quantization of the two-dimensional massless gauged Thirring model by using the path-integral approach. First, we will study the constraint structure of model via the Dirac's formalism and by using the Faddeev-Senjanovic method we calculate the vacuum-vacuum transition amplitude in a Rξ-gauge, then we compute the Green's functions in a nonperturbative framework. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

We show that the electromagnetic current for a system composed by two charged bosons has a structure of many bodies even in the impulse approximation, when described in the time x +. In terms of the two body component for the bound state, the current contains two body operators. We discuss the process of pair creation by the photon and interpret it as a zero mode contribution to the current and its consequences for the components of currents in the light front. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

Following the Dirac's technique for constrained systems we performed a detailed analysis of the constraint structure of Podolsky's electromagnetic theory on the null-plane coordinates. The null plane gauge condition was extended to second order theories and appropriate boundary conditions were imposed to guarantee the uniqueness of the inverse of the constraints matrix of the system. Finally, we determined the generalized Dirac brackets of the independent dynamical variables. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

Non-abelian gauge theories are super-renormalizable in 2+1 dimensions and suffer from infrared divergences. These divergences can be avoided by adding a Chern-Simons term, i.e., building a Topologically Massive Theory. In this sense, we are interested in the study of the Topologically Massive Yang-Mills theory on the Null-Plane. Since this is a gauge theory, we need to analyze its constraint structure which is done with the Hamilton-Jacobi formalism. We are able to find the complete set of Hamiltonian densities, and build the Generalized Brackets of the theory. With the GB we obtain a set of involutive Hamiltonian densities, generators of the evolution of the system. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

Recently a Minimal and an Ultraminimal Technicolor models were proposed where the presence of TC fermions in other representations than the fundamental one led to viable models without conflict with the known value for the measured S parameter. In this work we apply the results of [5] to compute the masses of the Higgs boson in the case of the Minimal and Ultraminimal Technicolor models. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

A new analytical theory including friction was developed to assess strain limits in punch stretching of anisotropic sheet metals. This new approach takes into consideration the anisotropic behaviour of sheet materials and could explain the mechanical behaviour of a variety of anisotropic sheet materials. The theory explains the sheet metal failure so for the drawing as the stretching region of the forming limit curve, particularly for materials that present the strain-ratio dependence of limit strain ε 1, where dε 1/dρ is not always greater than zero. dε 1/ dρ or dε 1/dε 2 could be equal to or smaller than zero for a range of materials. Therefore, this new theory can explains such experimental observations, besides to assuming that membrane element relations near the pole, for the case of punch stretching are dependent of sheet metal properties as the process history and also suggests that the onset of local necking is controlled by shear. Thus, theoretical results obtained through this new approach are compared with experimental results available in the literature. It is demonstrated the effect of friction on a FLC curve for both regions, drawing and stretching. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

Bismuth titanate ceramics (Bi 4Ti 3O 12) with 10 wt% in excess of bismuth (BIT10) were prepared by the polymeric precursor method and sinterized in microwave (MW) and conventional furnaces (CF). The effect of microwave energy on structural and electrical behavior of BIT10 ceramics was investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrical measurements. The results of the BIT10 ceramics processed in the microwave furnace (MW) showed a high structural organization compared to conventional treatment (CF). Size of grains and dieletrical properties are influenced by annealing conditions while coercitive field is not dependent on it. The maximum dielectric permittivity (12000) was obtained for the sample sintered in the microwave furnace. Piezoelectric force microscopy images reveals that in-plane response may not change its sign upon polarization switching, while the out-of-plane response does with the influence of microwave energy. Dielectric spectroscopy was used in this study to examine polycrystalline vanadium and tungstendoped BaZr 0.1Ti 0.90O 3 (BZT10:2V and BZT10:2W) ceramics obtained by the mixed oxide method. According to X-ray diffraction analyses, addition of vanadium and tungsten lead to ceramics free of secondary phases. SEM analyses reveal that both dopants result in slower oxygen ion motion and consequently lower grain growth rate. Temperature dependence dielectric study showed normal ferroelectric to paraelectric transition well above the room temperature for the BZT10 and BZT10:2V ceramics. However, BZT10:2W ceramic showed a relaxor-like behavior near phase transition characterized by the empirical parameter γ. Piezoelectric force microscopy images reveals that the piezoelectric coefficient is strongly influenced by type of donor dopant suggesting promising applications for dynamic random access memories and data-storage media. In the near future experiments will be able to produce charmed hadrons almost at rest in the interior of an atomic nucleus. One of the most exciting perspectives is the possibility of studying charmonium in a dense medium. In the present communication we present results of a study that explores the possibility that J/Ψ might be bound in a large nucleus through the excitation of intermediate states of D and D* mesons. We also present results of a recent prediction for the production of Λ̄ c -Λc + in proton-antiproton annihilation experiments. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

Within general characteristics of low-energy few-body systems, we revise some well-known correlations found in nuclear physics, and the properties of low-mass halo nuclei in a three-body neutron-neutron-core model. In this context, near the critical conditions for the occurrence of an Efimov state, we report some results obtained for the neutron- 19C elastic scattering. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.

We discuss two aspects of charmonium in medium. First, we present results of a recent study that compares the phenomenology of charmonium spectroscopy using smooth and sudden string breaking potentials. Next, we present results of a study that explores the possibility that J/ψ might be bound in a large nucleus through the excitation of a color singlet intermediate states of D and D* mesons with density masses. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.
