Artificial neural network(ANN) approach was applied to classification of normal persons and lung cancer patients based on the metal content of hair and serum samples obtained by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) for the two groups. This method was verified with independent prediction samples and can be used as an aiding means of the diagnosis of lung cancer. The case of predictive classification with one element missing in the prediction samples was studied in details, The significance of elements in hair and serum samples for classification prediction was also investigated.

By solid state reaction, LiMgAlF6 and LiMgAlF6:Ln(3+) are synthetized with the ratio 120/100/110 of LiF/MgF2/AlF3, at 1008 K, in high-purity Ar stream. Their crystal structure which belongs to hexagonal system are determined by X-Ray-Diffraction (XRD). Luminescence characteristics of Ce3+, Eu3+, Tb3+ and sensitization of Ce3+ to Tb3+ in LiMgAlF6 are studied. It is shown that the sensitization of Ce3+ to Tb3+ is efficient and a bright green emission is observed.

Eight heteropoly blues of bis-2:17 molybdophosphate complexes with Lathanide, i.e., K17H2[Ln(P2Mo17O61)2] . nH2O and K17H4[Ln(P2Mo17O61)2] . nH2O were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses potentiometric titration, IR, UV, polarography, cyclic voltammetry, X-ray photoelectron spectra X-ray powder diffraction, thermal analyses and ESR. Experimental results show that the properties of these series of heteropoly blues are different from those of their oxidized form, but no great changes in their structures were observed. The ligand P2Mo17O6110- remains alpha2-isomer's configuration.

本文研究了单掺和双掺(Tb~(3+)、Tb~(3+)+Gd~(3+)、Tb~(3+)+Dy~(3+)、Tb~(3+)+Bi~(3+)约四十余种不同成份的硼酸盐玻璃。探讨了玻璃成份对Tb~(3+)发光性质的影响和Gd~(3+)、Dy~(3+)、Bj~(3+)对Tb~(3+)的胜化作用。在B_2O_2-BaO-M_mO_n(M_mO_n=Li_2O、Na_2O、K_2O、MgO、CaO、SrO、Al_2O_3、La_2O_3和Bi_2O_3)玻璃体系中,当M_mO_n分别为MgO和Al_2O_3时,Tb~(3+)的发光强度最强;M_mO-n为Bi_2O_3时,Tb~(3+)的发光强度最弱。Tb~(3+)的特征发射峰分别随着碱金属、碱土金属和三价金属的离子半径增加而红移。Gd~(3+)、Dy~(3+)、Bi~(3+)对Tb~(3+)均有敏化作用。特别是Gd~(3+),使Tb~(3+)的发光强度增加1~3.8倍,其最佳敏化浓度,因基质玻璃成份而异。

An on-line controlled 7 1 sterilizable photobioreactor was used for the optimisation of a culture of gametophytes of Undaria pinnatifida. The gametophytes, which had been stored for three years in a culture cabinet at 16 degreesC, could rapidly grow in the photobioreactor under controlled conditions. The rate of increase of dissolved oxygen and pH were used to monitor the photosynthetic activity. Optimal gametophytes density changed varying the light intensity. The optimal cell densities were 3.24 and 3.45 g FW l(-1) when the cultures were exposed to 61.7 and 82.3 muE m(-2) s(-1), respectively. The optimal cell density was higher under a high photon flux density (PFD) than under low PFD. On the other hand, the optimal light intensities were different for different cell density cultures. The light saturation point was higher at high cell density cultures than at low cell density cultures. The optimal rotational speed was 150 rpm for high cell density culture in the photobioreactor. Effects of food availability on larval growth and survival of Meretrix meretrix were studied in two experiments by feeding the larvae with different algae diets and by starving the larvae for different periods of time. Newly hatched larvae of M meretrix were fed with five different marine microalgae species, singly and in various mixtures. Best growth was with Isochrysis galbana as a single species diet. Nutritional value of the other single species diets was in the order of Dunaliella sp.> Phaeodactylum tricornutum > Platymonas subcordiformis > Pavlova viridis. Of the mixtures tested, 50% I. galbana/50% Dunaliella sp., 50% I. galbana/50% P tricornutum, and 50% 1 galbana/50% P subcordiformis, supported growth and metamorphosis equivalent to those of the I. galbana control. At 25 degrees C, larvae of M meretrix were deprived of food for various days to study the growth compensation from the outset of development. The results showed that M meretrix larvae could survive long feeding delays, and even reach metamorphosis without food added, although starvation had significant effects on growth. These results suggested that M meretrix larvae had the capacity to survive 'starvation' using alternative sources of energy. It also showed that growth, survival and metamorphosis of M meretrix were affected by many factors besides food quality and quantity. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Elemental sulfur and hydrogen sulfide emitted offshore of northeastern Taiwan known to local fishermen for generations, but never studied until recently, are found to have originated from a cluster of shallow (< 30 m depth) hydrothermal vents. Among the mounds is a massive 6 m high chimney with a diameter of 4 m at the base composed of almost pure sulfur and discharging hydrothermal fluid containing sulfur particles. The sulfur in the chimney has a delta(34)S= 1.1 parts per thousand that is isotopically lighter than seawater. A yellow smoker at shallow depths with such characteristics has never been reported on anywhere else in the world. Gas discharges from these vents are dominated by CO2 (> 92%) with small amounts of H2S. Helium isotopic ratios 7.5 times that of air indicate that these gases originate from the mantle. High temperature hydrothermal fluids have measured temperatures of 78-116 degrees C and pH (25 degrees C) values as low as 1.52, likely the lowest to be found in world records. Low temperature vents (30-65 degrees C) have higher pH values. Continuous temperature records from one vent show a close correlation with diumal tides, suggesting rapid circulation of the hydrothermal fluids. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Reproduction and chromosome inheritance in triploid Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas Thunberg) were studied in diploid female x triploid male (DT) and reciprocal (TD) crosses. Relative fecundity of triploid females was 13.4% of normal diploids. Cumulative survival from fertilized eggs to spat stage was 0.007% for DT crosses and 0.314% for TD crosses. Chromosome number analysis was conducted on surviving progeny from DT and TD crosses at 1 and 4 years of age. At Year 1, oysters from DT crosses consisted of 15% diploids (2n = 20) and 85% aneuploids. In contrast, oysters from TD crosses consisted of 57.2% diploids, 30.9% triploids (3n = 30) and only 11.9% aneuploids, suggesting that triploid females produced more euploid gametes and viable progeny than triploid males. Viable aneuploid chromosome numbers included 2n + 1, 2n + 2, 2n + 3, 3n - 2 and 3n - 1. There was little change over time in the overall frequency of diploids, triploids and aneuploids. Among aneuploids, oysters with 2n + 3 and 3n-2 chromosomes were observed at Year 1, but absent at Year 4. Triploid progeny were significantly larger than diploids by 79% in whole body weight and 98% in meat weight at 4 years of age. Aneuploids were significantly smaller than normal diploids. This study suggests that triploid Pacific oyster is not completely sterile and cannot offer complete containment of cultured populations.

Sinking particulate material collected from Nansha Yongshu reef lagoon and the continental shelf of the East China Sea by sediment traps has been analyzed and studied for the first time using organic geochemical method. The results show that about half of the sinking particulate organic matter in the two study areas are consumed before reaching the depth of 5 m to the sea floor and the degree of this consumption in Yongshu reef lagoon is larger than that in the continental shelf of the East China Sea. The distributions of hydrocarbons and fatty acids indicate that the minor difference of biological sources of sinking particulate organic matter exists between Yongshu reel lagoon and the continental shelf of the East China Sea, but they mainly come from marine plankton. Stronger biological and biochemical transformations of sinking particulate organic matter are also observed and the intensity of this transformation in Yongshu reef lagoon is greater than that in the continental shelf of the East China Sea. It is found that the occurrence of C-25 highly branched isoprenoid (HBI) diene may be related to the composition of diatom species.

随着GPS(全球卫星定位系统)技术的成熟与发展,利用GPS技术进行车辆定位正地被广泛地应用。例如金融系统(运钞车)、公安部门(110报警车)、消防部门(119消防车)、急救中心(120救护车)等。但是,利用GPS进行车辆定位跟踪的传统方法是采用差分GPS技术。该技术的实现需要大量的资金投入,不适于我国目前的经济状况。寻求一种投资少并能实现基本功能的算法从工程角度讲,具有十分现实的意义。本文以“沈阳市消防通讯作战指挥系统”为背景,以单台GPS接收机动态定位模式为实现条件,对车辆定位的实现进行了详细的讨论。首先,建成立了WGS-84坐标系到BJ-54坐标系之间的坐标转换模型,其次,提出了一种基于类投影的地图匹配算法,最后基于该算法进行了实际车辆定位实验。从实验结果看,该算法基本实现了车辆定位的功能。

BACKGROUND: Most information about the lifetime prevalence of mental disorders comes from retrospective surveys, but how much these surveys have undercounted due to recall failure is unknown. We compared results from a prospective study with those from retrospective studies. METHOD: The representative 1972-1973 Dunedin New Zealand birth cohort (n=1037) was followed to age 32 years with 96% retention, and compared to the national New Zealand Mental Health Survey (NZMHS) and two US National Comorbidity Surveys (NCS and NCS-R). Measures were research diagnoses of anxiety, depression, alcohol dependence and cannabis dependence from ages 18 to 32 years. RESULTS: The prevalence of lifetime disorder to age 32 was approximately doubled in prospective as compared to retrospective data for all four disorder types. Moreover, across disorders, prospective measurement yielded a mean past-year-to-lifetime ratio of 38% whereas retrospective measurement yielded higher mean past-year-to-lifetime ratios of 57% (NZMHS, NCS-R) and 65% (NCS). CONCLUSIONS: Prospective longitudinal studies complement retrospective surveys by providing unique information about lifetime prevalence. The experience of at least one episode of DSM-defined disorder during a lifetime may be far more common in the population than previously thought. Research should ask what this means for etiological theory, construct validity of the DSM approach, public perception of stigma, estimates of the burden of disease and public health policy.

The task of nanofabrication can, in principle, be divided into two separate tracks: generation and replication of the patterned features. These two tracks are different in terms of characteristics, requirements, and aspects of emphasis. In general, generation of patterns is commonly achieved in a serial fashion using techniques that are typically slow, making this process only practical for making a small number of copies. Only when combined with a rapid duplication technique will fabrication at high-throughput and low-cost become feasible. Nanoskiving is unique in that it can be used for both generation and duplication of patterned nanostructures.

BACKGROUND: Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) are a major cause of morbidity and mortality among organ transplant recipients. Multicenter prospective surveillance data to determine disease burden and secular trends are lacking. METHODS: The Transplant-Associated Infection Surveillance Network (TRANSNET) is a consortium of 23 US transplant centers, including 15 that contributed to the organ transplant recipient dataset. We prospectively identified IFIs among organ transplant recipients from March, 2001 through March, 2006 at these sites. To explore trends, we calculated the 12-month cumulative incidence among 9 sequential cohorts. RESULTS: During the surveillance period, 1208 IFIs were identified among 1063 organ transplant recipients. The most common IFIs were invasive candidiasis (53%), invasive aspergillosis (19%), cryptococcosis (8%), non-Aspergillus molds (8%), endemic fungi (5%), and zygomycosis (2%). Median time to onset of candidiasis, aspergillosis, and cryptococcosis was 103, 184, and 575 days, respectively. Among a cohort of 16,808 patients who underwent transplantation between March 2001 and September 2005 and were followed through March 2006, a total of 729 IFIs were reported among 633 persons. One-year cumulative incidences of the first IFI were 11.6%, 8.6%, 4.7%, 4.0%, 3.4%, and 1.3% for small bowel, lung, liver, heart, pancreas, and kidney transplant recipients, respectively. One-year incidence was highest for invasive candidiasis (1.95%) and aspergillosis (0.65%). Trend analysis showed a slight increase in cumulative incidence from 2002 to 2005. CONCLUSIONS: We detected a slight increase in IFIs during the surveillance period. These data provide important insights into the timing and incidence of IFIs among organ transplant recipients, which can help to focus effective prevention and treatment strategies.
