L'accessibilitat dels webs de les universitats catalanes

L'estudi vol detectar quin és el grau d'accessibilitat dels webs de les universitats catalanes. Els indicadors utilitzats són els presents en el nivell de prioritat 1 de les Pautes d'accessibilitat al contingut del web, versió 1.0 -WCAG- del World-Wide WebConsortium, acompanyats per altres de complementaris. Com a principal resultat s¿obté que només una de les 43 pàgines analitzades compleix els llindars d'accessibilitat.

The agency continually strives to improve processes and align the organization in such a way to provide effective, demand driven products and services. Iowa Workforce Development‟s administrative, labor services, workers‟ compensation, labor market information, and the unemployment insurance service staff are located in Des Moines. Additionally, the agency maintains a statewide delivery system of 55 field offices in conjunction with our workforce partners. Through a comprehensive Web site, Iowa Workforce Development provides customers access to major services such as posting résumés; access to a statewide job bank; labor services information, unemployment claim information and filing options; and labor market information, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Development of LRFD Procedures for Bridge Pile Foundations in Iowa Volume III: Recommended Resistance Factors with Consideration of Construction Control and Setup, TR-584, 2012

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) mandated utilizing the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) approach for all new bridges initiated in the United States after October 1, 2007. As a result, there has been a progressive move among state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) toward an increased use of the LRFD in geotechnical design practices. For the above reasons, the Iowa Highway Research Board (IHRB) sponsored three research projects: TR-573, TR-583 and TR-584. The research information is summarized in the project web site (http://srg.cce.iastate.edu/lrfd/). Two reports of total four volumes have been published. Report volume I by Roling et al. (2010) described the development of a user-friendly and electronic database (PILOT). Report volume II by Ng et al. (2011) summarized the 10 full-scale field tests conducted throughout Iowa and data analyses. This report presents the development of regionally calibrated LRFD resistance factors for bridge pile foundations in Iowa based on reliability theory, focusing on the strength limit states and incorporating the construction control aspects and soil setup into the design process. The calibration framework was selected to follow the guidelines provided by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), taking into consideration the current local practices. The resistance factors were developed for general and in-house static analysis methods used for the design of pile foundations as well as for dynamic analysis methods and dynamic formulas used for construction control. The following notable benefits to the bridge foundation design were attained in this project: 1) comprehensive design tables and charts were developed to facilitate the implementation of the LRFD approach, ensuring uniform reliability and consistency in the design and construction processes of bridge pile foundations; 2) the results showed a substantial gain in the factored capacity compared to the 2008 AASHTO-LRFD recommendations; and 3) contribution to the existing knowledge, thereby advancing the foundation design and construction practices in Iowa and the nation.

Usabilidad de una biblioteca online con diseño centrado en el usuario

This thesis deals the aspects of usability and design of a web from a user's point of view. The thesis will examine the elements comprised in the development of a web (the human and technological aspects and how the interact). It will explain in depth how to approach these issues correctly or incorrectly, how to avoid dealing with them incorrectly and how to find a happy medium, which is as they say where the virtue lays. The thesis is completed with the practical example of a creation of a web site (the MARK'S SCIENCE on-line library).

An international registry on autoinflammatory diseases: the Eurofever experience.

OBJECTIVE: To report on the demographic data from the first 18 months of enrollment to an international registry on autoinflammatory diseases in the context of the Eurofever project. METHODS: A web-based registry collecting baseline and clinical information on autoinflammatory diseases and related conditions is available in the member area of the PRINTO web-site. Anonymised data were collected with standardised forms. RESULTS: 1880 (M:F=916:964) individuals from 67 centers in 31 countries have been entered in the Eurofever registry. Most of the patients (1388; 74%), reside in western Europe, 294 (16%) in the eastern and southern Mediterranean region (Turkey, Israel, North Africa), 106 (6%) in eastern Europe, 54 in Asia, 27 in South America and 11 in Australia. In total 1049 patients with a clinical diagnosis of a monogenic autoinflammatory diseases have been enrolled; genetic analysis was performed in 993 patients (95%): 703 patients have genetically confirmed disease and 197 patients are heterozygous carriers of mutations in genes that are mutated in patients with recessively inherited autoinflammatory diseases. The median diagnosis delay was 7.3 years (range 0.3-76), with a clear reduction in patients born after the identification of the first gene associated with autoinflammatory diseases in 1997. CONCLUSIONS: A shared online registry for patients with autoinflammatory diseases is available and enrollment is ongoing. Currently, there are data available for analysis on clinical presentation, disease course, and response to treatment, and to perform large scale comparative studies between different conditions.

EasyStrata: evaluation and visualization of stratified genome-wide association meta-analysis data.

The R package EasyStrata facilitates the evaluation and visualization of stratified genome-wide association meta-analyses (GWAMAs) results. It provides (i) statistical methods to test and account for between-strata difference as a means to tackle gene-strata interaction effects and (ii) extended graphical features tailored for stratified GWAMA results. The software provides further features also suitable for general GWAMAs including functions to annotate, exclude or highlight specific loci in plots or to extract independent subsets of loci from genome-wide datasets. It is freely available and includes a user-friendly scripting interface that simplifies data handling and allows for combining statistical and graphical functions in a flexible fashion. Nou portal d'accés als materials en obert de la UdG : DUGi 2.0

La Biblioteca de la Universitat de Girona és l'encarregada de coordinar els repositoris digitals de la Universitat. A l'inici el repositori neix de la necessitat de difondre i preservar tota la recerca de la Universitat, però mica en mica el projecte va creixent i es creen diferents repositoris per a diferents tipus de continguts. Així es creen els repositoris DUGiDocs, DUGiMedia i DUGiFonsEspecials.L'objectiu d'aquest PFC és desenvolupar un portal web amb un sistema d'indexació que permeti la cerca per diferents criteris com, per exemple, autor, matèria i títol. L'entorn ha de tenir un disseny agradable per a l'usuari final i ha de permetre obtenir les dades del repositori que se li indiquin. També ha de ser capaç de detectar els possibles duplicats en els criteris de cerca i notificar-ho a l'administrador

Virtuaalitilan suunnitteluja toteutus nuorisotyön tueksi

Tämän diplomityön tarkoituksena on suunnitella ja toteuttaa nuorisotyön tarpeisiin soveltuva virtuaalitila, jossanuoret voivat keskustella ongelmistaan oikean nuorisotyöntekijän kanssa. Ensin tutkitaan olemassa olevien virtuaalimaailmojen nykyistä tilaa, sekä luodaan katsaus virtuaalisuuteen ja mallintamiseen liittyviin perustekniikoihin. Olemassa olevien virtuaalimaailmojen ja niiden ominaisuuksien pohjalta suunnitellaan uusi, täysin nuorten auttamiseen tarkoitettu virtuaalitila. Tämän työn tarkoituksena ei ole tutkia nuorten auttamisen sosiaalista problematiikkaa, vaan tekniikoita, joilla auttaminen tehdään mahdolliseksi. Työn käytännöllisenä osuutena toteutettiin suunniteltu monen käyttäjän virtuaalitila, jossa käyttäjät voivat kommunikoida keskenään, keskustella nuorisotyöntekijän kanssa tai pelata ajanvietteeksi tarkoitettua junapeliä. Virtuaalitilan toteutuksessa käytettiin hyödyksi kolmiulotteista mallinnusta, Lingo-skriptikieltä, sekä Macromedian tarjoamaa monen käyttäjän palvelinta. Kaikki toteutetut osat koottiin yhdeksi sovellukseksi, joka julkaistiin Shockwave-elokuvana www-sivustolla.
