Espirito Santo : a industrialização como fator de desautonomia relativa

A monografia e uma análise histórico-dialética, de 1535 a 1976, procurando mostrar como o Estado do Espírito Santo formou-se e consolidou-se como região periférica e subdesenvolvida e como ele se integraria agora ao capital ismo nacional, a partir da implantação, em seu território, de alguns projetos industriais de vulto os chamados Grandes Projetos de Impacto. Partindo de uma análise sobre a formação do Centro Ocidental e do Estado brasileiro visa a entender o processo de transformação do Espírito Santo. Mostra, então, as formações do Centro Ocidental e do Estado Nacional. Para o primeiro, evidencia a viagem do sistema capital ista, da democracia 1iberal e do liberalismo econômico ao pluralismo político e à estrutura econômica oligopolica. Na formação do segundo, fica patenteada a evolução do Estado intervencionista/autoritário brasileiro, enxertado pela tentativa liberal da Repúb ica Velha e pela tentativa de implantação de um Estado Racional-Legal no Estado Novo. Assim, fica explícita a especificidade dependente-associada do capital ismo brasileiro, da fase primário-exportadora à fase industrial, e pode-se concluir que o Espírito Santo reproduziu as fases centrais, articulando-se sempre defasadamente aos centros nacionais e internacionais. Tornando patente a interdependencia do Estado do Espírito Santo em relação aos centros inter e in tra nacionais, a monografia passa a descrever o seu processo de formação econômica, social e política, procurando dar conta de suas peculiaridades. Chega à conclusão que a histórica capixaba pode ser dividida em quatro fases. Essencialmente baseadas numa economia de subsistência e, posteriormente, numa economia primário-exportadora, as três fases chamadas regionais litoranea, serrana e pioneina - configuram o ritmo e a direção da ocupação e degradação do território estadual e a marcha do café. A fase atual é de mudanças. são previstas, principalmente, a partir do momento em que os Grandes Projetos começarem a operar, transformações rápidas e desconcertantes, em função dos seis bilhões de dólares de investimentos que serão efetuados num Estado em que o orçamento não cobre sequer as despesas de pessoal. Na medida em que a implantação destes Grandes Projetos poderia reforçar o potencial de ingerência do Governo Federal na esfera estadual, além de trazer para o palco um novo foco de poder, o das corporações estrangeiras envolvidas, contribuir-se-ia para a marginalização dos poderes público e privado capixabas e o Espírito Santo correria o risco de perder sua já reduzida autonomia. Assim, seria configurado um processo iminente de marginalização estadual, tratado na monografia como processo de desautonomia relativa. O trabalho caracteriza esse processo com a análise das transformações potenciais que advirão'em decorrência da operação dos empreendimentos, indicando os riscos que o Estado enfrentará. Segundo ele, as principais mudanças dizem respeito à elevação substancial da Renda Interna Estadual, ao agravamento da concentração individual, espacial e setorial da renda, ao excessivo' adensamento demográfico na area metropolitana da Grande Vitória e ao estímulo à implantação de inúmeras indústrias complementares e satélites.

Memory and obl ivion are this work guidance. We aim to denounce the relat ionship between the chi ld and violence, and as it is a memorialist ic text , we see the importance of f ict ion for this type of narrat ive to be sustained. I aim thereby show the tone of this report humanizing memories, its deep and decisive meaning, through the memories concepts by Le Gof f , by Seligmann-Silva and by Ecléa Bosi. I t is also through the theories of Jeanne Marie Ganegbin that I just ify the concept of remembering and forget t ing, and also it is also according the concepts of Eliane Zagury that I give support to the importance of autobiography as a a mean of expressing the reported memor ies. Final ly, in Infância, there is no room for fantasy. The lyricism that overwhelms, throughout each chapter, commands the author's imaginat ion. The need to invent gives way to the need to test ify, to denounce. And this t ransit ion occurs gradually, slow as Gra c il ia n o s c h i ld li f e , d u e to such humiliat ion and submission

Atomic-scale characterization of diamond surfaces and fullerene self-assembly

In this thesis, elemental research towards the implantation of a diamond-based molecular quantum computer is presented. The approach followed requires linear alignment of endohedral fullerenes on the diamond C(100) surface in the vicinity of subsurface NV-centers. From this, four fundamental experimental challenges arise: 1) The well-controlled deposition of endohedral fullerenes on a diamond surface. 2) The creation of NV-centers in diamond close to the surface. 3) Preparation and characterization of atomically-flat diamondsurfaces. 4) Assembly of linear chains of endohedral fullerenes. First steps to overcome all these challenges were taken in the framework of this thesis. Therefore, a so-called “pulse injection” technique was implemented and tested in a UHV chamber that was custom-designed for this and further tasks. Pulse injection in principle allows for the deposition of molecules from solution onto a substrate and can therefore be used to deposit molecular species that are not stable to sublimation under UHV conditions, such as the endohedral fullerenes needed for a quantum register. Regarding the targeted creation of NV-centers, FIB experiments were carried out in cooperation with the group of Prof. Schmidt-Kaler (AG Quantum, Physics Department, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz). As an entry into this challenging task, argon cations were implanted into (111) surface-oriented CaF2 crystals. The resulting implantation spots on the surface were imaged and characterized using AFM. In this context, general relations between the impact of the ions on the surface and their valency or kinetic energy, respectively, could be established. The main part of this thesis, however, is constituted by NCAFM studies on both, bare and hydrogen-terminated diamond C(100) surfaces. In cooperation with the group of Prof. Dujardin (Molecular Nanoscience Group, ISMO, Université de Paris XI), clean and atomically-flat diamond surfaces were prepared by exposure of the substrate to a microwave hydrogen plasma. Subsequently, both surface modifications were imaged in high resolution with NC-AFM. In the process, both hydrogen atoms in the unit cell of the hydrogenated surface were resolved individually, which was not achieved in previous STM studies of this surface. The NC-AFM images also reveal, for the first time, atomic-resolution contrast on the clean, insulating diamond surface and provide real-space experimental evidence for a (2×1) surface reconstruction. With regard to the quantum computing concept, high-resolution NC-AFM imaging was also used to study the adsorption and self-assembly potential of two different kinds of fullerenes (C60 and C60F48) on aforementioned diamond surfaces. In case of the hydrogenated surface, particular attention was paid to the influence of charge transfer doping on the fullerene-substrate interaction and the morphology emerging from self-assembly. Finally, self-assembled C60 islands on the hydrogen-terminated diamond surface were subject to active manipulation by an NC-AFM tip. Two different kinds of tip-induced island growth modes have been induced and were presented. In conclusion, the results obtained provide fundamental informations mandatory for the realization of a molecular quantum computer. In the process it was shown that NC-AFM is, under proper circumstances, a very capable tool for imaging diamond surfaces with highest resolution, surpassing even what has been achieved with STM up to now. Particular attention was paid to the influence of transfer doping on the morphology of fullerenes on the hydrogenated diamond surface, revealing new possibilities for tailoring the self-assembly of molecules that have a high electron affinity.

Bundesweite Befragung der Absolventinnen und Absolventen des Jahres 2011 im Studiengang BSc Psychologie

Mit Ablauf des Sommersemesters 2011 wurden Bachelor-Absolventen bereits an mehr als 2/3 der psychologischen Universitätsinstitute in Deutschland verabschiedet. Es war daher an der Zeit, sich ein genaueres Bild von den Erfahrungen und den Plänen der Absolventen zu machen und natürlich auch etwas über die Erfüllung dieser Pläne zu erfahren. Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychologie1 hat daher erstmals eine Absolventenbefragung durchgeführt, mit der unter anderem, neben studiumsbezogenen Themen, Fragen beantwortet werden sollten wie zum Beispiel: Wie viele Studierende streben einen Masterabschluss in Psychologie an? Wie groß waren die Schwierigkeiten, einen Masterstudienplatz zu erhalten? Wie groß ist der Wunsch, den Ort nach dem Bachelorabschluss zu wechseln? Welche Erfahrungen haben diejenigen gemacht, die direkt auf den Arbeitsmarkt streben? Die Befragung fand im Februar/März 2012 statt und richtete sich an Bachelorabsolventen und -studierende des Jahrgangs 2008. Deren Regelstudienzeit endete mit dem Sommersemester 2011. Die Meinungen und Erfahrungen der beiden großen Teilgruppen-erstens derjenigen, die ihr Studium regelgemäß beendet hatten, zweitens derjenigen, die sich zum Zeitpunkt der Befragung im siebten Semester befanden-waren von Interesse.

Zusammenhänge zwischen sozialer Unterstützung und Suizidalität bei homo- und bisexuellen Personen

Der Beitrag untersucht Zusammenhänge zwischen sozialer Unterstützung und Suizidalität bei 615 homo- und bisexuellen Personen in der Schweiz. In einer Internetumfrage wurden dazu Suizidgedanken, Suizidpläne und Suizidversuche, sowie diverse Aspekte sozialer Unterstützung und die soziale Belastung erfragt. Obwohl homo- und bisexuelle Personen hohe Werte sozialer Unterstützung und niedrige Werte sozialer Belastung aufwiesen, zeigten sich hohe 12-Monats- und Lebenszeitprävalenzen bezüglich Suizidgedanken, -plänen und -versuchen. Alle Aspekte sozialer Unterstützung waren mit der Suizidalität in den letzten zwölf Monaten assoziiert, wobei die Zusammenhänge mit der sozialen Integration (r = -.34) und der sozialen Belastung (r = .39) am stärksten ausfielen. Selbst bei Kontrolle der depressiven Stimmung und des Alters teilnehmender Personen blieben die soziale Unterstützung (OR = .61) und die soziale Belastung (OR = 2.13) prädiktiv für die Suizidalität in den letzten zwölf Monaten. Personen, die viel soziale Unterstützung wahrnahmen (> 1 SD über dem Mittelwert) berichteten fünfmal weniger Suizidalität als solche mit geringer sozialer Unterstützung (> 1 SD unter dem Mittelwert). Personen, die viel soziale Belastung in ihrem Umfeld wahrnahmen (> 1 SD über dem Mittelwert), zeigten im vergangenen Jahr 14-mal häufiger Suizidalität als Personen, die geringe soziale Belastung erlebten (> 1 SD unter dem Mittelwert).

Improved VMAT planning for head and neck tumors with an advanced optimization algorithm

OBJECTIVE In this study, the "Progressive Resolution Optimizer PRO3" (Varian Medical Systems) is compared to the previous version "PRO2" with respect to its potential to improve dose sparing to the organs at risk (OAR) and dose coverage of the PTV for head and neck cancer patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS For eight head and neck cancer patients, volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) treatment plans were generated in this study. All cases have 2-3 phases and the total prescribed dose (PD) was 60-72Gy in the PTV. The study is mainly focused on the phase 1 plans, which all have an identical PD of 54Gy, and complex PTV structures with an overlap to the parotids. Optimization was performed based on planning objectives for the PTV according to ICRU83, and with minimal dose to spinal cord, and parotids outside PTV. In order to assess the quality of the optimization algorithms, an identical set of constraints was used for both, PRO2 and PRO3. The resulting treatment plans were investigated with respect to dose distribution based on the analysis of the dose volume histograms. RESULTS For the phase 1 plans (PD=54Gy) the near maximum dose D2% of the spinal cord, could be minimized to 22±5 Gy with PRO3, as compared to 32±12Gy with PRO2, averaged for all patients. The mean dose to the parotids was also lower in PRO3 plans compared to PRO2, but the differences were less pronounced. A PTV coverage of V95%=97±1% could be reached with PRO3, as compared to 86±5% with PRO2. In clinical routine, these PRO2 plans would require modifications to obtain better PTV coverage at the cost of higher OAR doses. CONCLUSION A comparison between PRO3 and PRO2 optimization algorithms was performed for eight head and neck cancer patients. In general, the quality of VMAT plans for head and neck patients are improved with PRO3 as compared to PRO2. The dose to OARs can be reduced significantly, especially for the spinal cord. These reductions are achieved with better PTV coverage as compared to PRO2. The improved spinal cord sparing offers new opportunities for all types of paraspinal tumors and for re-irradiation of recurrent tumors or second malignancies.

En una evaluación retrospectiva de las actitudes que guiaron al grupo de Orígenes, Cintio Vitier propone una fórmula que procura describir el gesto a la vez disruptivo y conciliador del movimiento liderado por José Lezama Lima: se trataría de una "atípica vanguardia sin vanguardismo". Suprimiendo el "ismo" final, Vitier desea subrayar lo que define como la "catolicidad incorporativa (...) llevada por Lezama hasta sus últimas consecuencias posibles en el mundo contemporáneo" ("La aventura de Orígenes", 1991). Se trataría de constituir una propuesta estética y cultural superadora de parricidios generacionales, exclusiones y negaciones. Sin embargo, si Orígenes no abre su primer número con un manifiesto, sí lo hace manifestándose contra todo ademán beligerante y efímero, a favor de lo "esencial" y perdurable en el arte: "Como no cambiamos de piel con las estaciones, no tenemos que justificar en extensos alegatos una piel de camaleón". Sin embargo Lezama lleva adelante su propuesta integradora contra ciertas actitudes propias de la generación anterior -la relacionada con la revista de avance.¿Habría que coincidir entonces con la fórmula de Vitier respecto de una "vanguardia sin vanguardismo" en el grupo de Orígenes, y más específicamente, en la poética de Lezama? ¿Cuáles son las posibles contradicciones en los planteos lezamianos? Estas son algunas preguntas que guiarán las reflexiones de esta comunicación.

La presencia de Cansinos Assens en las letras de Jorge Luis Borges

Rafael Cansinos Assens, figura determinante en el nacimiento del "ismo" español en épocas de vanguardias europeas, el ultraísmo, y Jorge Luis Borges, introductor de los principios del movimiento en la Argentina, traban amistad en el año 1920, cuando este último comienza a participar en las tertulias organizadas por el escritor sevillano en el Café Colonial de Madrid. Y dicha relación se intenta recuperar, en este trabajo, no como mención a los escritores en un plano eminentemente biográfico, sino como integrante de la producción escrita de Jorge Luis Borges en la década del 20 del siglo pasado. En este sentido se destacan, entre otros, algunos textos borgeanos como "Ultraísmo" de 1921, "La traducción de un incidente", "Definición de Cansinos Assens" y "A Rafael Cansinos Assens" de 1924, "Las luminarias de Hanukah" de 1926 y "R. Cansinos Assens" de 1927.
