Una empresa que da servicios de asistencia a usuarios para una entidad bancaria gestiona y registra las incidencias que los empleados u oficinas puedan tener mediante un software CRM. Los empleados del banco no tienen acceso a dicho software, con lo que necesitan alguna forma de poder llegar a cierta información. Este proyecto rellena dicho hueco, estableciendo una conexión extremo a extremo de forma segura y eficaz. Por medio de ficheros XML se envían las solicitudes y las respuestas desde la intranet del banco (mediante un formulario de registro de incidencias) hasta los sistemas CRM.

The Office of Energy Independence presents Iowa’s second annual energy independence plan, which highlights accomplishments achieved thus far and makes recommendations for the coming year. This plan shows that Iowa has made significant progress in building the foundation for reaching energy independence in just the past year. Continued investment and further efforts will enable Iowa to push toward even greater advances, while creating new jobs and diversifying local economies. With those aims in mind, the state has been investing extensively in the new energy economy. One important example is the Iowa Power Fund, an annual appropriation from the Iowa General Assembly administered by the Office of Energy Independence. In less than one year, the Office has received more than 160 project applications totaling more than $308 million in requests. The projects approved thus far will help advance Iowa’s wind and solar industries, foster new energy efficiency practices, and develop the bio fuels industry for a more economically and environmentally sustainable future. Iowa’s position as a leader in the new energy economy is dependent on the success of the Power Fund, and on the success of this plan. This plan clearly states that Iowa must boldly pursue a strong position in the emerging energy economy worldwide.
The cost of inappropriateness of coagulation testing [I costi dell'inappropriatezza in coagulazione]

Background. Laboratory utilization has steadily increased with a corresponding increase in overall costs; several authors have attempted to measure the impact of inappropriateness on clinical outcomes but data are insufficient. The aim of the study is to assess the cost of inappropriateness of test-ordering behaviour for second-level coagulation tests (hemorrhagic diathesisand thrombophilia). Methods. We reviewed all second-level coagulation testrequests received by our department during a six months period. Clinicians must fill out a specific order form for these kind of tests, containing all informations deemed necessary for the laboratory specialist to evaluatethe appropriateness of the request. We identified all inappropriate requests and counted the numbers and types of all coagulation tests that were not performed during the period. An analysis of the laboratory activity costs was done in order to calculate the global costof each test in our department and to estimate the savings achieved. Results. On a total of 1664 second-level coagulationtest requests, we estimated 150 as completely inappropriate. We found an overall of 295 inappropriate testswhich were not performed. This resulted in an economic saving of 20.000 euro in 6 months. Conclusions. The analysis of cost of our intervention shows the urgent need for a definite and sustained reduction in inappropriate requests of second-level coagulation tests. Even though we estimated only the economic aspect of inappropriate testing, this is also associated with the overuse of diagnostic tests which entailsthe risk of generating erroneous results with potentialnegative consequences on patients' health.

El present projecte neix degut a la necessitat de dotar a un pàgina web de una estructura sòlida així com una millor resposta als usuaris. El projecte es pot fraccionar en 2 blocs, els quals son: -La creació de un clúster de alta disponibilitat de manera que assegurem que en cas de fallida de un dels servidors físics la web seguirà sent visible per al públic. -La creació de un clúster de balanceig de càrrega que s’encarrega de redirigir les peticions per a veure la web al node del clúster que sigui més ociós en aquell.

En aquest projecte crearem un sistema per automatitzar els diferents dispositius que podem trobar en una casa. En primer lloc dissenyarem el hardware que serà el sistema nerviós des del que controlarem els dispositius a través del port USB d’un ordinador. Aquest sistema nerviós serà el punt d’interconnexió entre els dispositius de la casa i l’ordinador central que els controlarà. A nivell de hardware, a més a més del mòdul d’entrades i sortides d’interconnexió amb els dispositius que hem esmentat, ens trobem amb la necessitat d’instal•lar un ordinador central i diferents aparells repartits per la casa per poder realitzar les nostres necessitats (accions dels diferents dispositius) des de qualsevol punt de la casa. Amb aquests requeriments haurem d’estudiar les diferents possibilitats per fer el nostre sistema el màxim d’eficaç possible. Finalitzat l’estudi del hardware necessari pel nostre projecte, el següent pas és dissenyar el software. Aquest software serà l’aplicació encarregada de controlar tot el maquinari que hem dissenyat anteriorment i rebrà el nom de DOMO HOGAR. Aquest estarà format per dos programes diferents, DOMO HOGAR SERVER i DOMO HOGAR TERMINAL, cadascun d’ells amb unes funcions específiques. DOMO HOGAR SERVER serà l’aplicació que residirà a l’ordinador central i que permetrà a l’administrador gestionar totes les parts de les que forma part el nostre sistema: dispositius, tasques, pre-condicions, etc... També des d’aquesta aplicació editarem el panell tàctil que mostrarem des dels diferents terminals de l’habitatge. Per últim, aquesta aplicació també s’encarregarà de resoldre les peticions que farem, tant de l’ordinador central com dels terminals, i gestionar les diferents sortides en funció de l’acció a realitzar. Paral•lelament ens trobarem l’aplicació DOMO HOGAR TERMINAL que residirà en cada un dels terminals que hi hagi a la casa. Aquesta aplicació s’inicialitzarà llegint la configuració del panell tàctil de la base de dades de l’aplicació servidor resident a l’ordinador central i reconstruint una rèplica d’aquest panell tàctil. Finalment des d’aquesta aplicació terminal podrem donar ordres que seran emmagatzemades a la llista de tasques pendents de l’ordinador central perquè les resolgui des de l’aplicació del servidor. DOMO HOGAR ha estat creat per facilitar i confortar la vida quotidiana de les persones agilitzant el nostre dia a dia i permetent-nos invertir el nostre temps en les coses realment importants.

One of the aims of the MEDEX project is to improve the knowledge of high-impact weather events in the Mediterranean. According to the guidelines of this project, a pilot study was carried out in two regions of Spain (the Balearic Islands and Catalonia) by the Social Impact Research group of MEDEX. The main goal is to suggest some general and suitable criteria about how to analyse requests received in Meteorological Services arising out of the damage caused by weather events. Thus, all the requests received between 2000 and 2002 at the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya as well as at the Division of AEMET in the Balearic Islands were analysed. Firstly, the proposed criteria in order to build the database are defined and discussed. Secondly, the temporal distribution of the requests for damage claims is analysed. On average, almost half of them were received during the first month after the event happened. During the first six months, the percentage increases by 90%. Thirdly, various factors are taken into account to determine the impact of specific events on society. It is remarkable that the greatest number of requests is for those episodes with simultaneous heavy rain and strong wind, and finally, those that are linked to high population density.

Using the lens of positive organizational ethics, we theorized that empathy affects decisions in ethical dilemmas that concern the well-being of not only the organization but also other stakeholders. We hypothesized and found that empathetic managers were less likely to comply with requests by an authority figure to cut the wages of their employees than were non-empathetic managers. However, when an authority figure requested to hold wages constant, empathy did not affect wage cut decisions. These findings imply that empathy can serve as a safeguard for ethical decision making in organizations during trying times without generally undermining organizational effectiveness. We conclude by discussing the implications of our research.

Purpose:To describe a novel in silico method to gather and analyze data from high-throughput heterogeneous experimental procedures, i.e. gene and protein expression arrays. Methods:Each microarray is assigned to a database which handles common data (names, symbols, antibody codes, probe IDs, etc.). Links between informations are automatically generated from knowledge obtained in freely accessible databases (NCBI, Swissprot, etc). Requests can be made from any point of entry and the displayed result is fully customizable. Results:The initial database has been loaded with two sets of data: a first set of data originating from an Affymetrix-based retinal profiling performed in an RPE65 knock-out mouse model of Leber's congenital amaurosis. A second set of data generated from a Kinexus microarray experiment done on the retinas from the same mouse model has been added. Queries display wild type versus knock out expressions at several time points for both genes and proteins. Conclusions:This freely accessible database allows for easy consultation of data and facilitates data mining by integrating experimental data and biological pathways.

One-on-one communication with driver’s license customers is the most valuable tool Driver Services employees use to help drivers stay independent and safe. Driver Services employees understand that a sense of remaining independent, in everything from running errands to shopping to visits with friends, family and doctors, depends on a driver’s license. There are times when Driver Services personnel, or even the drivers themselves, determine it’s time to stop driving. In those cases, people are given a free identification card. There are also times when the DOT must suspend a person’s driving privilege. This can be caused by vision problems, a medical condition or unsafe driving. If the driver cannot be relicensed, DOT personnel make the commitment to work with the individual by providing information about available transportation alternatives. We are providing this information to make the renewal process understandable and less stressful. We hope that by explaining why the DOT screens vision, requires medical information and requests drive tests, and describing how these all relate to highway safety, drivers will know what to expect. Personnel are available to answer questions or discuss concerns at any of the Iowa Department of Transportation or County Treasurer driver’s license sites. RESUME« L'insertion sociale plurielle des femmes cadres supérieurs en Suisse. Contribution à l'étude du bien-être subjectif au quotidien. Approche intégrative qualitative. »Depuis une quarantaine d'années, nombreux sont les travaux qui étudient les relations entre les différents milieux de vie au quotidien et, plus particulièrement, l'impact de leurs articulations singulières sur la santé. Nous y identifions deux axes principaux : l'un aborde ce phénomène selon une perspective de « conflit travail-famille » en termes de « stress », l'autre se focalise davantage sur la promotion du « bien-être » au travers d'une approche d'« équilibre travail-vie ». Or, l'ensemble de ces recherches considère comme «pathogènes» les désajustements, les contradictions et les tensions vécus au quotidien. Selon cette tendance, le « bien-être » apparaît comme un état d'équilibre ultime indépendant du contexte de vie du sujet. Toutefois, peu de recherches portent sur la dimension située du bien-être dans son rapport à l'activité concrète au sein des milieux deNotre étude s'intéresse à cette question auprès des femmes cadres supérieurs, selon une perspective critique et développementale en psychologie de la santé (Lyons & Chamberlain, 2006 ; Santiago-Delefosse, 2002,2011 ; Malrieu, 1989 ; Vygotski, 1985). En effet, cette population constitue un terrain privilégié pour comprendre le sens donné à l'activité à partir des contraintes, responsabilités et demandes perçues dans des contextes parfois contradictoires, et pour analyser le rôle de ces derniers dans un bien-être subjectif.En cohérence avec notre positionnement théorique, nous avons mené des entretiens qualitatifs focalisés sur l'activité quotidienne auprès de 20 femmes, et ceci en deux temps (T1-T2) (40 entretiens). Les résultats issus des analyses du contenu des discours permettent de définir le vécu de l'articulation des milieux de vie chez nos participantes, selon trois axes à la fois interdépendants et autonomes. Chaque axe se définit par une série de supports spécifiques jouant un rôle structurant dans leur bien-être subjectif. Ainsi, le premier axe se caractérise par des supports de maîtrise subjective, ainsi que par l'appropriation de contraintes sociales et corporelles, selon un rythme de l'activité soutenu. Le deuxième s'accompagne de supports qui favorisent la prise de distance au travers du relâchement du rythme et du lâcher prise de la maîtrise, par la création d'espaces personnels et sociaux « pour soi ». Enfin, le troisième porte sur le positionnement de soi par rapport à autrui en termes de « personnalisation ».Construits en rapport à la corporéité et à autrui au sein de contextes spécifiques, ces différents supports prennent leur sens au sein d'un système de pratiques global, unique pour chaque femme. Selon cette conception critique, le bien-être subjectif chez les femmes cadres se définit comme le fruit d'un processus mouvant issu des tensions vécues entre les trois axes de l'articulation des milieux de vie. Il est par conséquent social, corporel et psychologique.Nos résultats ouvrent des perspectives de recherche et d'intervention, notamment en santé et travail. Ces ouvertures sont orientées vers une approche intégrative en psychologie de la santé, c'est-à-dire, de la prise en compte dans des questions de santé et de bien-être du processus de construction du sujet en relation à son insertion sociale plurielle.ABSTRACT« Plural social participation among women senior managers in Switzerland. Contribution to the study of subjective well-being in everyday life. An integrative and qualitativeapproach.»For the last forty years, a large body of literature has studied the relationships between different social realms in everyday life and, more particularly, the impact of their singular intertwinements with health. We identify two main trends : The first one focuses on this phenomenon through the « work-family conflict » perspective in terms of « stress » whilst the second one is more concerned by the promotion of « well-being » through a « work-life balance » approach. However, both of these trends consider disadjustments, contradictions and tensions in everyday life as « pathogenic ». According to this conception, « well- being » appears as an ultimate state of balance which is indépendant from the subject's life context. Nevertheless, few studies have examined the situated dimension of well-being in its link to concrete activity in social realms.Our research is concerned with this issue among women senior managers from a critical and developmental perspective in Health Psychology (Lyons & Chamberlain, 2006 ; Santiago-Delefosse, 2002, 2011 ; Malrieu, 1989 ; Vygotski, 1985). In fact, this population represents a favourable field so as to study : how the meaning of daily activity is constructed accross different and often conflictive social realms ; to understand the many ways in which this population deals with perceived constraints, responsibilities and requests, and to analyse the role of situated plural activity in subjective well-being.Consitent with our theoretical framework, we have designed a qualitative method. We have conducted two-time (T1-T2) interviews with 20 women by focusing on their daily activity (40 interviews). The Thematic Content Analysis reveals that four different social realms are articulated among our participants through three main axes, which are at the same time interdependent and autonomous. Each one of these axis is defined by a certain number of specific supports that play an important role in these women's subjective well- being. The first axis is concerned by several supports that signify a « feeling of control » along with the appropriation of social and body constraints by means of a rapid pace of activity. The second one regards the use of supports that contribute to « put things into perspective » by means of the slowing down of the pace of activity and through letting go of the feeling of control. This mechanism includes the creation of personal and social spaces of « one's own ». The third axis is defined by the positioning of the self in regard to others through a process of « personnalization ».Developed in specific contexts through the intertwinnements between the body and social others, supports belonging to these axes acquire significance and meaning on the basis of their relationship to a global system of activities of which they are part. However, this articulation is uniquely defined for each participant. According to this critical approach, subjective well-being among women senior managers emerges as a meaningful and changing process, situated in a plural social context. This is, it appears as the result of conflictual interactions defining the three different axis that we have identified. Subjective well-being is hence a social, embodied and psychological phenomena that is closely linked to the articulation of different social realms. Our findings open new research and practice perspectives, especially concerning health and work issues. These perspectives convey an integrative approach in Health Psychology by considering health and well-being by taking into account the process of construction of the subject in regard to his or her plural social participation.

This thesis examines how oversight bodies, as part of an ATI policy, contribute to the achievement of the policy's objectives. The aim of the thesis is to see how oversight bodies and the work they do affects the implementation of their respective ATI policies and thereby contributes to the objectives of those policies using a comparative case study approach. The thesis investigates how federal/central government level information commissioners in four jurisdictions - Germany, India, Scotland, and Switzerland - enforce their respective ATI policies, which tasks they carry out in addition to their enforcement duties, the challenges they face in their work and the ways they overcome these. Qualitative data were gathered from primary and secondary documents as well as in 37 semi-structured interviews with staff of the commissioners' offices, administrative officials whose job entails complying with ATI, people who have made ATI requests and appealed to their respective oversight body, and external experts who have studied ATI implementation in their particular jurisdiction. The thesis finds that while the aspect of an oversight body's formal independence that has the greatest impact on its work is resource control and that although the powers granted by law set the framework for ensuring that the administration is properly complying with the policy, the commissioner's leadership style - a component of informal independence - has more influence than formal attributes of independence in setting out how resources are obtained and used as well as how staff set priorities and utilize the powers they are granted by law. The conclusion, therefore, is that an ATI oversight body's ability to contribute to the achievement of the policy's objectives is a function of three main factors: a. commissioner's leadership style; b. adequacy of resources and degree of control the organization has over them; c. powers and the exercise of discretion in using them. In effect, the thesis argues that it is difficult to pinpoint the value of the formal powers set out for the oversight body in the ATI law, and that their decisions on whether and how to use them are more important than the presumed strength of the powers. It also claims that the choices made by the commissioners and their staff regarding priorities and use of powers are determined to a large extent by the adequacy of resources and the degree of control the organization has over those resources. In turn, how the head of the organization leads and manages the oversight body is crucial to both the adequacy of the organization's resources and the decisions made about the use of powers. Together, these three factors have a significant impact on the body's effectiveness in contributing to ATI objectives.
