Self-adaptive optical systems for long-distance flying optics

The focusing characteristics of long-distance flying optics were studied systemically for TEMmn Gaussian beams. The results show that the ABCD law of parameter q can be extended to Gaussian modes of any order when waist radius w in the imaginary part of parameter q is replaced by Rayleigh range Z(R) of a certain resonator in the equation. The difference between the real focal length and the geometric focal length, defined as Delta f, was calculated for laser applications. A novel self-adaptive optical system was demonstrated for precisely controlling the focusing characteristics of long-distance flying optics, Theoretical analyses and experimental results were consistent. Passively Q-switched Yb : YAG laser with Cr4+: YAG as the saturable absorber

By using a continuous-wave Ti:sapphire laser as a pumping source, we demonstrated a passively Q-switched Yb:YAG laser at room temperature with Cr4+:YAG as the saturable absorber. We achieved an average output power of as much as 55 mW at 1.03 mum with a pulse width (FWHM) as short as 350 ns. The initial transmission of the Cr4+:YAG has an effect on the pulse duration (FWHM) and the repetition rate of the Yb:YAG passively Q-switched laser. The Yb:YAG crystal can be a most promising passively Q-switched laser crystal for compact, efficient, solid-state lasers. (C) 2001 Optical Society of America.

Diffraction at 8-keV x-rays of Bragg-Fresnel optics

The basic elements of Bragg-Fresnel multilayer optics are multilayer gratings. In this paper, the fabrication process for the simplest Bragg-Fresnel multilayer optics is given; the diffraction measurements at 8-keV x rays of multilayer gratings are presented; and the measurement results in the diffraction spectrum are analyzed and discussed in detail. Aristóteles, «Poética» 1454a 24, y la tragedia del siglo IV

[ES] La cualidad de "semejantes", el requisito que Aristóteles señala han de poseer los personajes de la tragedia en «Poét.» 1454a 24, ha recibido fundamentalmente dos interpretaciones distintas. Una, la que supone que tal semejanza lo es con el hombre ordinario, está bien asentada dentro de la argumentación general de la «Poética»; la otra, que relaciona el concepto con el prototipo mítico, requiere más aclaraciones que la anterior si se pretende que pueda ser aristotélica. De ello nos ocupamos en el presente artículo, poniendo en relación la práctica contemporánea, la tragedia del siglo IV, con las opiniones de Aristóteles en la «Poética».

Ungewohnliche Gewichsabnahme von Dorsch im 2. Jahresquartal in Bornholm Becken (ICES-Gebeit 25) und der Arkonasee (ICES-Gebiet 24)

Cod captured by commercial fi shery in the Bornholm Basin in quarter 2 of 2001 were not suitable for the mechanical processing due to low condition and weight. The absolute mean weight of cod captured by the commercial fishery in the Arkona Sea and Bornholm Basin in the same quarter during the last fi ve years was studied to describe its development. The results of a GLM (Generalized Linear Model) analysis showed similar development of body weight in the Bornholm Basin and in the Arkona Sea between 2007 and 2011. The mean weight of cod in the Bornholm Basin increased from 2007 to 2008 in both areas followed by a relative stable weight until 2009 and a decrease until 2011. In the Arkona Sea the mean weight of cod 2009 has decreased in comparison to 2008, then have increased 2010 slightly and last have decreased in 2011. The analyses showed that the weight of cod is signifi cantly infl uenced by length, age and maturity of individuals.
