Proparoxítonas no português arcaico: uma análise por meio da música e do texto das Cantigas de Santa Maria

This paper aims to conduct a study on proparoxytones in Medieval Portuguese through an innovative methodology based on the observation of coincidences and no-coincidences of musical and linguistic prominences of poetic texts with musical notation.. This methodology allowed us to verify the existence of a hundred and thirteen proparoxytones words in a corpus constituted by the first hundred Cantigas de Santa Maria. It was possible to locate the stressed syllable in 92,93% of the found words.

Variability of rainfall and temperature (1912-2008) parameters measured from Santa Maria (29 degrees 41 ' S, 53 degrees 48 ' W) and their connections with ENSO and solar activity

In this work, we analyze the long term variability of rainfall and temperature (1912-2008) of Santa Maria (29 degrees S, 53 degrees W) and its possible connection with natural influences such as solar activity and ENSO. Temperature and rainfall present similar frequencies as revealed by spectral analyses. This analysis shows a large number of short periods between 2-8 years and periods of 11.8-12.3, 19.1-21.0, and 64.3-82.5 years. The cross correlation for rainfall and temperature versus Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) have higher cross-power around 2-8 yr. Rainfall and temperature versus sunspot number (Rz) showed higher cross-power around the 11-yr solar cycle period. A high and continuous cross correlation was observed for Rz-22 yr versus rainfall and temperature. Furthermore, the power between 22-yr solar cycle and meteorological parameters was higher than that obtained with the 11-yr solar cycle, suggesting that the effect of Hale cycle on climate may be stronger than the Schwabe cycle effect. These results indicate that the variability of rainfall and temperature is closely related to the variation of the Southern Oscillation Index and solar activity, and that the El Nino Southern Oscillation and solar activity probably play an important role in the climate system over Southern Brazil. Taxonomical study on a sample of pulmonates from Santa Maria da Vitória, Bahia, Brazil, with description of a new genus and four new species (Mollusca: Orthalicidae and Megalobulimidae)

A sample of Pulmonata collected in Santa Maria da Vitória, interior of Bahia, Brazil, in Caatinga semi-arid environment, is studied taxonomically. From the five species, four are revealed as new, including a new genus. The new taxa are the Bulimulidae (1) Kora corallina gen. et sp. n. characterized by the elongated shell with aperture somewhat dislocated from the shell axis, and an oblique tooth in middle level of inner lip; (2) Spixia coltrorum, mainly characterized by an uneven spire, delicate sculpture and peristome with 4 equidistant teeth; (3) Anostoma tessa, mainly characterized by a broad spire and well-developed anal canal; and the Megalobulimidae (4) Megalobulimus amandus, mainly characterized by pointed protoconch sculptured by dense quantity of axial cords. Rhinus suturalis is the only previously known species, but its geographic distribution is expanded southwards to Bahia state. A discussion with respect to necessity for improving the study on the malacofauna from the interior region of the Brazilian Northeast and the importance for preservation of the Caatinga biome is also provided.

Cirrus clouds observation in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul during the experiment Chuva - Sul.

Cirrus clouds are an interesting point in the research of the atmosphere due their behavior and the effect on the earth radiation budget. They can affect the atmospheric radiation budget by reflecting the incoming solar radiation and absorbing the outgoing terrestrial radiation. Also, this cloud type is involved in the dehydration of the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere. So, it is interesting to increment the measurements of this type of clouds from the ground. During November and December 2012, through the CHUVA-SUL campaign, measurements with lidar in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul were conducted. The system installed in Santa Maria site (29.8 °S; 53.7 °W, 100 m asl) was a single elastic-backscatter lidar using the wavelength of 532 nm. Some days with cirrus clouds lidar measurements were detected. Four days with presence of cirrus cloud are showed in the present study. These days, 7, 8, 19 and 28 November 2012, was selected due the persistence of cirrus clouds over many hours. The raw retrieval lidar signals and inverted backscatter coefficient profiles were analyzed for the selected days. Base and top height was obtained by analysis of raw signal and backscatter coefficient. Extinction coefficient profiles were obtained by the assumption of the lidar ratio. Cirrus cloud optical depth (COD) values were calculated, from the integration of the extinction coefficient between the base and top altitudes of the cirrus clouds.

L'ethos del marchio "Barilla" nella comunicazione pubblicitaria francese: Un modello di valorizzazione del made in Italy.

L’elaborato propone un’analisi dettagliata della configurazione del discorso pubblicitario, inteso come il risultato di una duplice operazione: quella di produzione del messaggio, a opera del pubblicitario, utente di precise strategie discorsive, e quella di interpretazione, da parte del destinatario che completa il significato dell’enunciato attribuendogli le proprie peculiari connotazioni. Il corpus utilizzato consiste in una raccolta di spot pubblicitari prodotti dall’azienda Barilla per i telespettatori francofoni, ed è stato reperito presso l’Archivio Storico di Barilla nella sede di Parma. L’illustrazione e la descrizione di alcune pubblicità scelte come modelli forniscono la base per l’approfondimento di alcune problematiche linguistiche e traduttologiche; in particolare, viene posto l’accento sulla nozione di ethos discorsivo, collocabile nell'ambito dell’analisi del discorso, e su quella di stereotipo linguistico, considerato come veicolo culturale e strumento dotato di straordinaria forza assertiva e pertanto prediletto dalla comunicazione pubblicitaria. Tale forma di linguaggio merita di essere analizzata e studiata nella sua ricca complessità, dal momento che è da considerarsi come il più efficace e moderno mezzo di diffusione, incorporazione e assimilazione di valori e comportamenti culturalmente orientati.

Da un dialetto all'altro: napoletano e veronese nella traduzione della commedia "Grisù, Giuseppe e Maria" di Gianni Clementi

La tesina si occupa dell’adattamento di una commedia scritta in napoletano, Grisù, Giuseppe e Maria di Gianni Clementi, in dialetto veronese da parte di Daniele Marchesini. Si cercherà di mettere in luce i tratti caratteristici dell’originale e di descrivere e motivare la scelta del dialetto da parte dell’autore (in particolare il ruolo del dialetto rispetto alle altre “lingue” presenti nella commedia e di come queste lingue caratterizzino i personaggi) e di vedere come l’adattamento veronese riproponga, utilizzando un altro dialetto e altri riferimenti culturali, il medesimo rapporto fra dialetto e lingua italiana e in generale le altre lingue presenti nel testo originale.

Proposta di sottotitolaggio del social movie italy in a day

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the main translating issues related to the subtitling of the Italian social movie Italy in a day into English: Italy in a day is a crowdsourced film, comprising a selection of video clips sent by ordinary people, showing occurrences of everyday life on a single day, October 26th, 2013. My dissertation consists of four chapters. The first provides a general overview of audiovisual translation, from the description of the characteristics of filmic products to a summary of the most important audiovisual translation modes; a theoretical framework of the discipline is also provided, through the analysis of the major contributions of Translations Studies and the multidisciplinary approach proposed by the scholar Frederic Chaume. The second chapter offers insight into the subtitling practice, examining its technical parameters, the spatial and temporal constraints, together with the advantages and pitfalls of this translation mode. The main criteria for quality assessment are also outlined, as well as the procedures carried out in the creation of subtitles within a professional environment, with a particular focus on the production of subtitles for the DVD industry. In the third chapter a definition of social movie is provided and the audiovisual material is accurately described, both in form and content. The creation of the subtitling project is here illustrated: after giving some information about the software employed, every step of the process is explained. In the final chapter the main translation challenges are highlighted. In the first part some text reduction techniques in the shift from oral to written are presented; then the culture-specific references and the linguistic variation in the film are analysed and the compensating strategies adopted to fill the linguistic and cultural gap are commented on and justified taking into account the needs and expectations of the target audience.
