Partiendo del concepto de metfora cognitiva, que complementa al ms conocido de metfora literaria, y analizando la base conceptual que a ambas subyace, pretendemos un cuidadoso anlisis de los textos de poesía pica y lrica arcaicas, sin olvidar la importancia fundamental del contexto cultural en que estos surgen, para obtener una mejor comprensin de la forma en que los griegos conceptualizaban el sentimiento amoroso.

Discute los mtodos ms usuales de reconstruccin de las cuentas nacionales y sobre las principales propiedades de los estimados; luego, los compara con similares de pases europeos y Amrica Latina. Explica los procedimientos usados en la reconstruccin de la demografa y la Contabilidad Nacional del Per colonial y del Per republicano. Finalmente, propone una agenda de investigacin para mejorar la calidad de los estimados.

Este artculo trata sobre todo del marco legal del arbitraje comercial internacional en Amrica Latina y el Caribe y la influencia de la Comisin de las Naciones Unidas para el Derecho Mercantil Internacional en las leyes de arbitraje adoptadas por la mayora de los pases de la regin, que han adoptado un modelo normativo moderna del arbitraje comercial internacional. Tambin incorpora informacin sobre el marco jurdico en vigor para el arbitraje internacional en Amrica Latina y el Caribe. Por ltimo, muestra el esfuerzo importante en estos pases para superar las tendencias nacionales e idiosincrasias formalistas en esta materia. A pesar de la resistencia negativa por los pases de la regin y de la defensa de un cierto particularismo en la actualidad no existe una actitud hostil hacia el arbitraje comercial internacional.

O trabalho pretende analisar as mudanas scio-espaciais no municpio de Balsas-MA, decorrentes da introduo de novos elementos culturais, inseridos a partir da instalao da agricultura moderna. Dessa forma, a pesquisa emprica (trabalho de campo) realiza-se na rea do municpio de Balsas, envolvendo os segmentos da populao classificados como populao tradicional (composta pelos habitantes anteriores chegada da soja), e a populao migrante (formada pelas pessoas instaladas na rea aps a insero da soja), A bibliografia terica sobre os conceitos chave que fundamentam o trabalho, se apoia no referencial que contempla, prioritariamente, os autores e respectivas temticas como: espao, relaes sociais, territorialidade, identidade, cultura, bem como os conceitos complementares como: globalizao, papel do Estado e fronteira. O enfoque analtico sobre o municpio de Balsas deu-se por entender que este representa o marco inicial do processo de produo da soja e que, conseqentemente, apresenta maiores singularidades em termos de transformaes scio-espaciais e culturais, dada a sua funo dentro do processo produtivo regional. Os resultados parciais obtidos atravs de entrevistas realizadas com os atores selecionados e observaes in loco dos pesquisadores, revelam dentre outros aspectos, que uma das mudanas mais significativas, que se refletem no plano fsico a da (re)configurao scio-espacial da zona urbana do municpio de Balsas no perodo de 1990 a 2010. Nesse contexto, o deslocamento do centro comercial e administrativo localizado, anteriormente, na rea antiga da cidade, para a que se expandiu, figura como uma modificao espacial mais reconhecida tanto pela populao tradicional como dos imigrantes. Referente s mudanas scio-culturais observadas destacam-se aquelas relacionadas aos hbitos de alimentao, vesturio, lazer, dentre outros, da populao local.

El presente acercamiento es el resultado del rastreo bibliogrfico inicial llevado a cabo por la Lnea de Estudios Internacionales (LINEI) del centro de investigaciones socio-jurdicas de la universidad Libre de Colombia. Es el resultado del anlisis y compendio de lo referente al eje de modernidad. Presenta una sntesis del paradigma global y del paradigma eurocntrico de la lectura a la modernidad para abrir discusiones sobre la posibilidad de articular el paradigma otro.

The Eating Disorder Risk Composite (EDRC) comprises the Drive for Thinness, Bulimia, and Body Dissatisfaction subscales of the Eating Disorder Inventory, Third Edition (EDI-3, Garner, 2004). Past research conducted with Latina college women (LCW) has found older versions of the EDRC subscales to be reliable, but the EDI-3's EDRC factor structure has yet to be studied among LCW. The present study investigated the pattern of responses to and the factor structure of the EDRC in LCW. It was hypothesized that eating pathology would be present and that a factor analysiswould find some discrepancies between the original factor structure of the EDRC and the factor structure from LCW. Analyses of data on a 6-point Likert scale indicate that drive for thinness and body dissatisfaction are far more prevalent than is bulimic symptomology in LCW. Principal Axis Factoring with promax rotation was used to extract three factors very similar to the original EDRC. Some discrepancies in the item loadings were observed, most notably that half of the items from the original Body Dissatisfaction subscale did not load together on one factor. Overall, the EDRC appears to be a goodmeasurement of eating- and body-related phenomena among LCW. Implications, limitations, and future directions are discussed.

The Gesture of Exposure On the presentation of the work of art in the modern art exhibition The topic of this dissertation is the presentation of art works in the modern art exhibition as being the established and conventionalized form of art encounter. It investigates the possibility of a theorization of the art exhibition as a separate object for research, and attempts to examine the relationship between the art work and its presentation in a modern art exhibition. The study takes its point of departure in the area vaguely defined as exhibition studies, and in the lack of a general problematization of the analytical tools used for closer examination of the modern art exhibition. Another lacking aspect is a closer consideration of what happens to the work of art when it is exposed in an art exhibition. The aim of the dissertation is to find a set of concepts that can be used for further theorization The art exhibition is here treated, on the one hand, as an act of exposure, as a showing gesture. On the other hand, the art exhibition is seen as a spatiality, as a space that is produced in the act of showing. Both aspects are seen to be intimately involved in knowledge production. The dissertation is divided into four parts, in which different aspects of the art exhibition are analyzed using different theoretical approaches. The first part uses the archaeological model of Michel Foucault, and discusses the exhibition as a discursive formation based on communicative activity. The second part analyses the derived concepts of gesture and space. This leads to the proposition of three metaphorical spatialities the frame, the agora and the threshold which are seen as providing a possibility for a further extension of the theory of exhibitions. The third part extends the problematization of the relationship between the individual work of art and its exposure through the ideas of Walter Benjamin and Maurice Blanchot. The fourth part carries out a close reading of three presentations from the modern era in order to further examine the relationship between the work of art and its presentation, using the tools that have been developed during the study. In the concluding section, it is possible to see clearer borderlines and conditions for the development of an exhibition theory. The concepts that have been analysed and developed into tools are shown to be useful, and the examples take the discussion into a consideration of the altered premises for the encounter with the postmodern work of art.

Idyll or Reality? Albert Edelfelt, Gunnar Berndtson and the ambivalent breakthrough of modernity Albert Edelfelt (1854-1905) and Gunnar Berndtson (1854-1895) have much in common. In this dissertation, I study their paintings of local peasants and fishermen and of the gentrys summer in the county of Uusimaa in southern Finland, in the context of Nordic history of ideas. The breakthrough of modernity, with its attention on debating social problems, provides a novel angle into the oeuvres of the two artists. My focus is on the paintings which emerge in the collision of the public discussion of social matters and the values of the artists manorial milieu. The artists relation to the public discussion is scrutinized through two of the main topics: the question of the common people and democracy, and the question of equality between men and women. My dissertation is a contextual study which is based on the analysis of the artworks of Edelfelt and Berndtson, on their letters, and on the study of drama and fiction of their time. The notion libert, egalit, fraternit is linked to the breakthrough of modernity. Both artists were aware of the ideal of equality. They used the means and the themes of contemporary art in their presentations, but their pictures contain the ideal of an earlier epoch: the hardworking, but still complacent common people. This conception of the common people is also reflected in the poems of J. L. Runeberg. Women of the late 19th century challenged womans primary role as wife and mother. In Edelfelts and Berndtsons depictions of the gentry enjoying summer, women and children have the main role. Notwithstanding the debate of the breakthrough of modernity they depicted women almost without exception as good mothers. Their paintings often depict lazy days in the sunshine, which were, in reality, rare moments for the mistress of the house. Edelfelts and Berndtsons subjects from the Uusimaa countryside coincide with the topics of the breakthrough of modernity, but both the pictures of the common people and the depictions of the gentry enjoying summer, are a retouched picture of reality, often an idyll, in which the public discussion of social matters is evident only materially or not at all.

Resumen: El hispanista francs Georges Cirot fue el primero en emplear el trmino maurofilia literaria (maurophilie littraire) en 1938 para referirse a la representacin del valor y la nobleza de los moros en la literatura espaola del siglo XVI. Pero como seal Ramn Menndez Pidal (1957, 202), ya en los siglos XIV y XV los castellanos se haban sentido atrados por los musulmanes de Granada, por su extica civilizacin, su lujo en el vestir, la esplndida ornamentacin de sus edificios y su modo de cabalgar, armarse y combatir. Francisco Mrquez Villanueva (1984, 117-118) indic que aunque la literatura maurfila del siglo XVI fue elaborada bajo el signo avanzado del humanismo cristiano, cuyas caractersticas fueron el inconformismo y la sensibilidad para toda suerte de realidades en divergencia del mundo oficial, las races de la maurofilia literaria se encuentran en el viejo romancero fronterizo y morisco elaborado en el siglo XV. En su opinin, el Romancero fue la patria de la maurofilia pura y es donde encontramos un cuadro de referencias temticas hecho de toponimia y onomstica, armas, indumentaria, policroma y cabalgadas tendiente a caracterizar al moro como un ser refinado y superior. Para Mara Rosa Lida (1960, 355), en cambio, la imagen caballeresca del moro se remonta a don Juan Manuel, pues en sus obras aparecen las cortes musulmanas como centros de molicie refinada y suntuosa. En efecto, en el Libro de los estados se afirma el valor del moro como guerrero y en el Conde Lucanor aparecen una serie de reyes moros magnnimos y discretos. Sin embargo, el rabe como personaje sabio o ejemplar figura ya en una de las fuentes del Conde Lucanor, la Disciplina clericalis, obra compuesta a principios del siglo XII por el judo converso Pedro Alfonso. Por otra parte, el anlisis de la representacin de los moros en textos picos, Avengalvn en el Poema de mio Cid y Almanzor en la Los siete infantes de Lara, nos permite descubrir un importante e insoslayable antecedente de la maurofilia de los ltimos siglos de la Edad Media

Resumen: En este trabajo, sostenemos que Amrica Latina est atravesando un ciclo de protesta ambiental, como resultado de dos fuerzas opuestas. Por un lado, el aumento del apetito global por los recursos naturales alimentos, fibras, minerales, energa ha intensificado la presin sobre el ambiente en la regin. Tras dcadas de globalizacin neoliberal, las empresas transnacionales son actores clave en estos procesos. Por otro lado, la sociedad civil y los movimientos sociales estn bien organizados y son muy activos en trminos de la respuesta a los riesgos sociales y ambientales derivados de los mismos, tanto en trminos de los recursos materiales como de los discursivos de que disponen. Nuestro anlisis se sita en la confluencia de tres perspectivas tericas: la teora de los sistemas mundiales, la poltica contenciosa y la resistencia a las tecnologas.
