Introduction: Some losses resulting from aging can be minimized with the practice of resistive exercises. Objective: To analyze the effects of resistive exercises on flexibility, mobility, muscle strength and balance in the elderly. Method: Twenty elderly individuals were divided between an activity group (AG, n=10; 66.1±6.35 years) and a control group (CG, n=10; 65.4±7.54 years). Mobility, flexibility, muscle strength and balance were evaluated. The AG participated in the training for 13 weeks (one-hour sessions, twice a week). The Wilcoxon non-parametric test (intra-group analysis) was used to analyze the data. A significance level of 5% (p<0.05) was adopted. Results: After training, the AG presented better mobility, lower limb muscle strength, and balance, but no difference in flexibility. Conclusion: The present study allows us to conclude that resistive exercises were able to improve mobility, lower limb muscle strength and balance in elderly individuals.

In heavy machining industries, a critical point that must be taken into account is setup. Because the characteristics of machine tools and parts to be machined, usually pieces robust and large, the preparation of these parts must be made accurately for machining has a good result as planned. As a result of the difficulty raised in the setup machining of heavy parts, companies in this segment seek alternatives to reduce the unproductive time caused by setup and optimize machining processes. One way was found that these companies create operating instructions that describe and standardize the operation between its employees, as well as deploy a control machining times to measure the unproductive time caused by the setup. This work studied a new system for the realization of centering and alignment of Rotating Deck R-9350 in CNC Milling Machine PAMA Speedram 3000, in Liebherr Brazil company. The part Rotating Deck R-9350 is a critical part in which its machining in PAMA Milling Machine is made in three phases and their setup times are quite high and involve stopping the machine. It has been tested and proposed a solution to the realization of this part of the setup without the use of the machine, but of the measuring instrument three-dimensional Laser tracker, with which the machine continued to work, while he was in the centering and alignment of other parts. It was noted that the instrument technically attended the need and it was possible to perform this operation more accurately

This project aimed at discussing about the possibility of transforming a corporate blog into an Intranet tool. The objective is to make the internal communication more interactive by bringing the employee closer to the organization through conversing in a less formal environment. In the first series of discussions, issues such as how the organizational communication works as a whole, which communications vehicles are normally used to reach the target group and the role of public relations in the organizational communication, were conducted aiming the discussion around the internal communication and the personnel, one of the objectives of this paper. Following these discussions, the focal points was around digital communication and its possibilities in the organization, as well as talking about and discussing the blog and the Intranet. Finally a theoretical discussion was conducted concerning the possibilities of turning this corporate blog into an Intranet tool and the reasons why public relations should manage this new communications tool

To compare the effect of acupuncture and occlusal splint in the treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in female patients.Method: Forty-eight female patients (mean age of 39.3±6.8 years) with diagnosed pain in muscles or joint according to RDC/TMD criteria were attended at UNESP - Aracatuba Dental School. Including criteria were reported pain in the chewing muscles and/or in the temporomandibular joint measured by a visual analogue scale (range from 0 to 10) and a reported reduction of the maximum mouth opening. Excluding factors were major occlusal problems, systemic diseases, pregnancy and age below 18 years. After randomization, the first group was treated with acupuncture performed by instructed dentist. The second group was treated with occlusal splint. The outcome variables were assessed at baseline (prior to the first treatment session) and after 1, 3 and 6 months. Primary criteria of success were improvement of mouth opening and pain reduction.Result: Acupuncture group exhibited chewing pain decrease from 5 (at baseline) to 1, 2 and 1 after 1, 3 and 6 months, respectively. In the splint group, chewing pain decreased from 4 to 2, 1 and 2 after 1, 3 and 6 months, respectively. The mouth opening (in mm) increased from 28 (at baseline) to 42, 44 and 46 after 1, 3 and 6 months, respectively in the acupuncture group. In the splint group, mouth opening improved from 29 to 40 after 1 month, and to 43 and 42 after 3 and 6 months. A significant pain reduction was noted for both groups when compared to the baseline (p<.001; Wilcoxon test). Acupuncture group had a significant clinical improvement of opening mouth (Mann-Whitney). Conclusion: The present outcomes suggest a positive association among acupuncture and occlusal splint on the reduction of chewing pain. Acupuncture was more effective in the mouth opening increase.

Mesoclemmys heliostemma (Testudines: Chelidae) was described based on five vouchered specimens and nine live specimens from the western Amazon basin. Some authors questioned its status as a valid species, suggesting that it represents a junior synonym of M. raniceps. Here, we report on eight additional specimens from eastern Peru and northern Brazil, and provide descriptive statistics of morphological characters for hatchlings, juveniles, and adults of M. heliostemma, M. raniceps, and M. gibba. We also test for group differences through univariate and multivariate statistical analyses, and discuss some advantages of this methodology. Our data suggest that all three taxa are morphologically divergent, and that M. heliostemma is a valid species.

Aims: to compare the performance of undergraduate students concerning semi-implanted central venous catheter dressing in a simulator, with the assistance of a tutor or of a self-learning tutorial. Method: Randomized controlled trial. The sample consisted of 35 undergraduate nursing students, who were divided into two groups after attending an open dialogue presentation class and watching a video. One group undertook the procedure practice with a tutor and the other with the assistance of a self-learning tutorial. Results: in relation to cognitive knowledge, the two groups had lower performance in the pre-test than in the post-test. The group that received assistance from a tutor performed better in the practical assessment. Conclusion: the simulation undertaken with the assistance of a tutor showed to be the most effective learning strategy when compared to the simulation using a self-learning tutorial. Advances in nursing simulation technology are of upmost importance and the role of the tutor in the learning process should be highlighted, taking into consideration the role this professional plays in knowledge acquisition and in the development of critical-reflexive thoughts and attitudes. L’obiettivo di questa relazione è presentare i risultati raggiunti dalle attività di marketing svolte al fine di promuovere e valutare la piattaforma e-commerce di BF Servizi, azienda che opera come intermediario nella fornitura di servizi all’interno del contesto fieristico di Bologna Fiere. A fine del 2009 BF Servizi ha commissionato a Gecod lo sviluppo di un sistema informativo per le gestione integrata di tutti i processi rilevanti per il business aziendale. A ottobre 2010 viene completato e presentato uno dei moduli previsti dall’intero progetto: la piattaforma e-commerce. Questa si differenzia dagli altri sistemi di commercio online in quanto è stata progettata specificatamente allo scopo di permettere la prenotazione di servizi da parte delle aziende che partecipano alle manifestazioni svolte presso i padiglioni di Bologna Fiere. Le sue particolarità sono quindi sia l’utenza, che configura la creazione di relazioni B2B, sia la tipologia di articoli offerti, non prodotti ma servizi, sia l’ambiente, le fiere svolte a Bologna. A seguito di questo rinnovamento BF Servizi ha ritenuto opportuno adeguare al nuovo contesto anche le proprie tecniche di marketing introducendo, come strumento da usare per la loro attuazione, il web. All’interno dell’organico dell’azienda però non era presente una figura che avesse le competenze per poter integrare, ai normali canali usati per le iniziative di marketing, le opportunità offerte da Internet e che quindi potesse utilizzarle per raggiungere gli obiettivi prefissati per tali attività e cioè la promozione della piattaforma e-commerce e la misurazione del suo gradimento da parte dell’utenza. Le mie conoscenze maturate in ambito universitario hanno apportato quel contributo necessario alla loro realizzazione. La prima decisione è stata la scelta di quale tra le tecniche di web marketing fosse la migliore per le promozione della piattaforma e-commerce di BF Servizi. La disponibilità di un voluminoso numero di indirizzi email dei loro clienti e prospect ed una generale bassa alfabetizzazione informatica degli stessi ha portato a individuare quale soluzione più adeguata la tecnica dell’email marketing. La comunicazione ai clienti per mezzo email era già prevista ma senza che vi fosse ne una pianificazione ne un'analisi dei risultati. Era quindi necessario formalizzare un vero e proprio piano di marketing e successivamente migliorarne le performance. L’assenza di strumenti adeguati alla sua realizzazione ha richiesto che prima venisse svolto un benchmark del settore basato sul confronto di funzionalità, costi e facilità d'uso. Il servizio ESP di Mailchimp è risultato il vincitore in quanto assicurava una maggiore tutela della privacy, una migliore gestione dello spam e strumenti più efficaci per la creazione e l'analisi delle campagne email. Per la valutazione del gradimento della piattaforma e-commerce da parte degli utenti è stato deciso di progettare un’apposita indagine sottoforma di Usability Test e Online Survey. Per il primo è stato necessario l’utilizzo di un apposito servizio per la condivisione dello schermo in quanto in era impossibile far ritrovare il test e l’osservatore nel medesimo luogo. Per l’Online Survey, grazie ad un piccolo Benchmark, è stato deciso di utilizzare SurveyGizmo. All’interno dell’organico dell’azienda non è presente una figura di importanza strategia quale il Web Marketing Manager che abbia la responsabilità di coordinare tutte le attività legate alla vendita o al lancio di un prodotto o di un servizio. L’attività di marketing viene svolta da una figura interna all’azienda (il Responsabile Marketing) che si avvale della collaborazione sia di Gecod, per quanto riguarda l'area informatica, sia di BitBang per quanto riguarda alcune attività di web marketing. La realizzazione delle due attività ha fortemente risentito di questa frammentazione dei compiti, è stato infatti opportuno adeguare le pianificazione alle esigenze di Gecod. Nonostante questo i dati conseguiti dall'attività di email marketing sono stati utili a capire l'efficacia e l'efficienza di questa tecnica nel contesto di BF Servizi. Anche le informazioni raccolte durante l'indagine sono state sufficienti per poter dare un valore all'usabilità della piattaforma e-commerce. La pianificazione iniziale di un piano di email marketing richiede che vengano svolte varie verifiche per valutare la qualità ed inoltre richiede periodo medio-lungo per poter essere reso ottimale. Era quindi già chiaro sin dall'inizio come uno degli obiettivi fosse quello di progettare una buona base su cui apportare successive modifiche. Le prime campagne realizzate sarebbero state utili a ricavare le informazioni necessarie per correggere il piano di marketing. La tipologia di relazione che si instaura tra BF Servizi e i suoi clienti è particolare, la gran parte di essi infatti non vi mantiene un rapporto continuativo durante l’anno ma lo esaurisce in un unico momento poco prima del manifestarsi dell’evento fieristico. L'attenzione dei clienti verso le comunicazioni di BF Servizi è elevata solo in questo periodo e la pianificazione delle campagne ha dovuto tener conto di questo aspetto. Sono state realizzate le campagne solo per gli espositori che partecipavano agli eventi fieristici di Marca 2011, Artefiera 2011 e Fishing Show 2011, cioè le manifestazioni che si sono svolte durante il mio periodo di lavoro in azienda. Le performance delle campagne sono state buone e i dati raccolti hanno permesso di identificare quali siano gli aspetti da migliorare per poter renderle ancora migliori.

Die Forschungsarbeit siedelt sich im Dreieck der Erziehungswissenschaften, der Informatik und der Schulpraxis an und besitzt somit einen starken interdisziplinären Charakter. Aus Sicht der Erziehungswissenschaften handelt es sich um ein Forschungsprojekt aus den Bereichen E-Learning und Multimedia Learning und der Fragestellung nach geeigneten Informatiksystemen für die Herstellung und den Austausch von digitalen, multimedialen und interaktiven Lernbausteinen. Dazu wurden zunächst methodisch-didaktische Vorteile digitaler Lerninhalte gegenüber klassischen Medien wie Buch und Papier zusammengetragen und mögliche Potentiale im Zusammenhang mit neuen Web2.0-Technologien aufgezeigt. Darauf aufbauend wurde für existierende Autorenwerkzeuge zur Herstellung digitaler Lernbausteine und bestehende Austauschplattformen analysiert, inwieweit diese bereits Web 2.0-Technologien unterstützen und nutzen. Aus Sicht der Informatik ergab sich aus der Analyse bestehender Systeme ein Anforderungsprofil für ein neues Autorenwerkzeug und eine neue Austauschplattform für digitale Lernbausteine. Das neue System wurde nach dem Ansatz des Design Science Research in einem iterativen Entwicklungsprozess in Form der Webapplikation LearningApps.org realisiert und stetig mit Lehrpersonen aus der Schulpraxis evaluiert. Bei der Entwicklung kamen aktuelle Web-Technologien zur Anwendung. Das Ergebnis der Forschungsarbeit ist ein produktives Informatiksystem, welches bereits von tausenden Nutzern in verschiedenen Ländern sowohl in Schulen als auch in der Wirtschaft eingesetzt wird. In einer empirischen Studie konnte das mit der Systementwicklung angestrebte Ziel, die Herstellung und den Austausch von digitalen Lernbausteinen zu vereinfachen, bestätigt werden. Aus Sicht der Schulpraxis liefert LearningApps.org einen Beitrag zur Methodenvielfalt und zur Nutzung von ICT im Unterricht. Die Ausrichtung des Werkzeugs auf mobile Endgeräte und 1:1-Computing entspricht dem allgemeinen Trend im Bildungswesen. Durch die Verknüpfung des Werkzeugs mit aktuellen Software Entwicklungen zur Herstellung von digitalen Schulbüchern werden auch Lehrmittelverlage als Zielgruppe angesprochen.

The aim of this work is to assess the effectiveness of a project carried out in the Autonomous Province of Trento to promote language learning among young people. The project consisted in a television quiz show featuring games in Italian, English and German. Eight classes from five high schools took part in the game show, which was aired between November 2014 and January 2015 by the local channel Trentino TV. Since multilingualism has been part of the European Union policy, legislation and practices for many decades, the first chapter of this dissertation offers an overview of the main EU language education policies which seek to promote language learning among all citizens. It then focuses on the commitment of the EU and its member States to find new strategies to show the benefits of language learning outside formal education, also using both old and new media. Some TV and radio shows on multilingualism broadcast in Italy and in other EU countries are also briefly described. The second chapter is devoted to Uno Two Drei, the quiz show created by the Autonomous Province of Trento and Trentino TV to promote the learning of English and German among students while enhancing their personal growth and development. The role of everyone involved in the project is outlined, as well as the concept and planning phases and the realization stage. The third chapter focuses largely on the impacts of the initiative on the target group, namely 17-year-old students. Opinions of the participants were first collected in January, when a final meeting was held between the organizers and the schools. Since the researcher has managed the German part of the project, in the following months a questionnaire was administered to the 48 students who played in the German team and to their teachers as well. From both the meeting and the questionnaires it has emerged that the main goals of the initiative were achieved: generally speaking, students have been motivated to study languages and learn new things, the bonds between them have been strengthened and their sense of solidarity has been enhanced.

Objective High rates of suicide have been described in HIV-infected patients, but it is unclear to what extent the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has affected suicide rates. The authors examined time trends and predictors of suicide in the pre-HAART (1988—1995) and HAART (1996—2008) eras in HIV-infected patients and the general population in Switzerland. Method The authors analyzed data from the Swiss HIV Cohort Study and the Swiss National Cohort, a longitudinal study of mortality in the Swiss general population. The authors calculated standardized mortality ratios comparing HIV-infected patients with the general population and used Poisson regression to identify risk factors for suicide. Results From 1988 to 2008, 15,275 patients were followed in the Swiss HIV Cohort Study for a median duration of 4.7 years. Of these, 150 died by suicide (rate 158.4 per 100,000 person-years). In men, standardized mortality ratios declined from 13.7 (95% CI=11.0—17.0) in the pre-HAART era to 3.5 (95% CI=2.5—4.8) in the late HAART era. In women, ratios declined from 11.6 (95% CI=6.4—20.9) to 5.7 (95% CI=3.2—10.3). In both periods, suicide rates tended to be higher in older patients, in men, in injection drug users, and in patients with advanced clinical stage of HIV illness. An increase in CD4 cell counts was associated with a reduced risk of suicide. Conclusions Suicide rates decreased significantly with the introduction of HAART, but they remain above the rate observed in the general population, and risk factors for suicide remain similar. HIV-infected patients remain an important target group for suicide prevention.
