This paper focuses on a PV system linked to the electric grid by power electronic converters, identification of the five parameters modeling for photovoltaic systems and the assessment of the shading effect. Normally, the technical information for photovoltaic panels is too restricted to identify the five parameters. An undemanding heuristic method is used to find the five parameters for photovoltaic systems, requiring only the open circuit, maximum power, and short circuit data. The I–V and the P–V curves for a monocrystalline, polycrystalline and amorphous photovoltaic systems are computed from the parameters identification and validated by comparison with experimental ones. Also, the I–V and the P–V curves under the effect of partial shading are obtained from those parameters. The modeling for the converters emulates the association of a DC–DC boost with a two-level power inverter in order to follow the performance of a testing commercial inverter employed on an experimental system.

This paper presents a three-phase three-level fast battery charger for electric vehicles (EVs) based in a current-source converter (CSC). Compared with the traditional voltage-source converters used for fast battery chargers, the CSC can be seen as a natural buck-type converter, i.e., the output voltage can assume a wide range of values, which varies between zero and the maximum instantaneous value of the power grid phase-to-phase voltage. Moreover, using the CSC it is not necessary to use a dc-dc back-end converter in the battery side, and it is also possible to control the grid current in order to obtain a sinusoidal waveform, and in phase with the power grid voltage (unitary power factor). Along the paper is described in detail the proposed CSC for EVs fast battery charging systems: the circuit topology, the power control theory, the current control strategy and the grid synchronization algorithm. Several simulation results of the EV fast battery charger operating with a maximum power of 50 kW are presented.

This paper presents a novel concept of unidirectional bridgeless combined boost-buck converter for electric vehicles (EVs) battery chargers. The proposed converter is composed by two power stages: an ac-dc front-end converter used to interface the power grid and the dc-link, and a dc-dc back-end converter used to interface the dc-link and the batteries. The ac-dc converter is a bridgeless boost-type converter and the dc-dc converter is an interleaved buck-type converter. The proposed converter operates with sinusoidal grid current and unitary power factor for all operating power levels. Along the paper is described in detail the proposed converter for EV battery chargers: the circuit topology, the different stages describing the principle of operation, the power control theory, and the current control strategy, for both converters. Along the paper are presented several simulation results for a maximum power of 3.5 kW.

Aquest projecte es basa en l'estudi, disseny i avaluació d'antenes per a aplicacions RFID a la banda UHF. Les etiquetes RFID estan compostes per un xip i una antena que han de presentar una bona adaptació per a aconseguir màxima transferència de potència. Els dos objectius principals en els diferents fases de disseny de cada antena han estat optimitzar les seves dimensions, i incrementar l'ample de banda.

La finalitat d’aquest projecte ha estat la millora de la formació global dels estudiants. Concretament, mitjançant la creació d’un portafolis que contingui les diferents activitats que ha realitzat l’estudiant al llarg del curs es pretén potenciar tant les competències específiques com les competències transversals dels estudiants. Concretament, aquest objectiu s'ha assolit mitjançant el disseny i el desenvolupament de: 1. nou material docent corresponent a la presentació dels continguts de l’assignatura (apunts, presentacions, animacions,... ) amb el que s'ha pretès promoure el treball individual i la capacitat d’autoaprenentatge dels estudiants. 2. sesions dirigits que es realitzen en aules informàtiques amb el que s'ha volgut incrementar la motivació i desenvolupar un esperit crític dels estudiants 3. treballs tutelats que els estudiants realitzaran en grups, posteriorments pesentaran a la resta de companys i que finalment condueixen a la redacció d’un informe final. D'aquesta manera s'ha pretès desenvolupar les competències transversals dels estudiants

Treball de fi de carrera de Enginyeria Tècnica de Sistemes d'en Jordi Tejero. Consisteix en el desenvolupament d'una eina, força simplificada, per a gestionar les actuacions a domicili d'una empresa de serveis tècnics, com pot ser una lampisteria.El producte és una aplicació web desenvolupada integrament amb els recursos que proporciona el servidor d'aplicacions GlassFish v3, de Sun. En particular, empra EJB 3, Java Server Faces 2 i JavaDb (Derby) com a SGBD.A més de l'executable, el producte inclou el codi font Java, el projecte Eclipse amb que s'ha desenvolupat, la documentació JavaDoc, una breu guia pels usuaris i el resultat de les proves realitzades.A banda, s'hi publica la memòria del treball i una presentació virtual en Power Point.

RESUMO Objetivo Descrever o processo de construção e implementação da Webquest como estratégia pedagógica orientadora do estudo sobre as concepções pedagógicas, utilizando História em Quadrinhos (HQ). Método A primeira fase do estudo foi delineada como pesquisa aplicada de produção tecnológica. A segunda caracterizou-se como pesquisa exploratório-descritiva documental para análise das HQ no Curso de Licenciatura da EEUSP, em 2013. Resultados A Webquest proposta foi implementada, resultando em 18 HQ. Todas as concepções pedagógicas estudadas foram abordadas; foram utilizados os softwares indicados e o Power Point®, os enredos desenvolveram-se em diferentes cenários e a maioria das HQ contemplou os itens obrigatórios. Conclusão A utilização de diferentes recursos tecnológicos proporcionou o aprendizado, pela mobilização de múltiplas potencialidades, capacidades e interesses dos educandos, favorecendo a construção do aprendizado coletivo e colaborativo e fortalecendo características importantes e necessárias na formação profissional que influenciarão no perfil dos recursos humanos, em sintonia com as aspirações do mercado de trabalho.

We study analytically a thermal Brownian motor model and calculate exactly the Onsager coefficients. We show how the reciprocity relation holds and that the determinant of the Onsager matrix vanishes. Such a condition implies that the device is built with tight coupling. This explains why Carnot¿s efficiency can be achieved in the limit of infinitely slow velocities. We also prove that the efficiency at maximum power has the maximum possible value, which corresponds to the Curzon-Alhborn bound. Finally, we discuss the model acting as a Brownian refrigerator.

Paleoclimatic reconstructions coupled with species distribution models and identification of extant spatial genetic structure have the potential to provide insights into the demographic events that shape the distribution of intra-specific genetic variation across time. Using the globeflower Trollius europaeus as a case-study, we combined (1) Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphisms, (2) suites of 1000-years stepwise hindcasted species distributions and (3) a model of diffusion through time over the last 24,000 years, to trace the spatial dynamics that most likely fits the species' current genetic structure. We show that the globeflower comprises four gene pools in Europe which, from the dry period preceding the Last Glacial Maximum, dispersed while tracking the conditions fitting its climatic niche. Among these four gene pools, two are predicted to experience drastic range retraction in the near future. Our interdisciplinary approach, applicable to virtually any taxon, is an advance in inferring how climate change impacts species' genetic structures.

Through the City Energy Management Program, energy managers will directly work with up to 20 municipalities in Iowa to help identify opportunities to reduce energy costs in city-owned buildings, exterior lighting, and water/wastewater facilities. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää eri parametrien vaikutusta lastunmuodostukseen pyörösahattaessa jäätynyttä ja sulaa puuta. Tutkimuksessa vertailtiin erityisesti jäätyneen ja sulan puun eroja sahauksen kannalta. Lisäksi tutkittiin puruvuodon esiintymistä pyörösahauksessa. Tutkimuksen empiirisessä osassa tutkittiineri parametrien vaikutusta sahauksen maksimitehoon, lastujen kokojakaumaan sekälastunmuodostukseen. Lastunmuodostusta kuvattiin videokameralla erittäin nopealla suljinajalla ja syntyneitä videokuvia arvioitiin silmämääräisesti. Mittaustenperusteella havaittiin, että jäätyneen ja sulan puun eroavaisuudet pyörösahauksessa ovat melko pienet. Lisäksi saatiin määritettyä muiden käytettyjen muuttujien vaikutukset puun pyörösahauksessa. Tutkimuksessa havaittiin myös, että puun sisäisillä ominaisuuksilla on erittäin suuri vaikutus sahausprosessiin.
