Quan es parla d'educació, en termes econòmics i en les societats actuals, se'ns demostra la dependència que aquesta té de les formes d'organització de l'economia. Se'ns torna a recordar aquella correspondència -encara que no sempre exacta i sovint matisable- que apuntaven Bowles i Gintis entre el sistema socioeconòmic i els sistemes educatius, sobretot en els seus currículums ocults.

Educació ambiental i el valor de sentir allò que és comú

Raimon Pannikar deia, ja fa uns anys, que «no és possible un jo i un tu sense una tercera persona, i aquesta tercera persona existent en tot diàleg és sempre la matèria, l'espai, el temps, el cosmos, la terra». I Jo penso que és molt intel·ligent parlar d'una «tercera persona», d'un tercer element que en realitat és i no és una persona. En tot el que seguira intentaré explicar aixà que die, perquè em sembla quelcom interessant per a l'educació ambiental.

Des de l'Educació Ambiental es pot treballar de moltes maneres. En cadascuna d'elles hi ha una determinada interpretació del medi, de la seva definició i caracterització, de com cal abordar-ne l'estudi i el tractament, de l'abast de les accions educatives que s'hi refereixen, etc.

Deu anys de seguiment demogràfic i genètic d’Stachys maritima a Catalunya (2001-2010). Implicacions per a un pla de recuperació

Ten years of demographic and genetic monitoring of Stachys maritima in Catalonia (2001-2010). Implications for a recovery plan.- Stachys maritima is a species typical of the coastal dunes, with a wide distribution within the Mediterranean Basin. In spite of this, the species shows a clear regression. In Catalonia, it has been observed an important reduction of its populations since early 20th century, where it has disappeared from several localities in which it was relatively common (Tarragonès, Barcelonès). Herein we present the results of the demographic monitoring of the species during the last 10 years (2001-2010) in the known localities in Catalonia. Besides corroborating the disappearance (northern Sant Martí d’Empúries), the re-discovering (Llobregat Delta beach) and the detection of new populations (inner dunes of the Montgrí), a large year-to-year fluctuation of the monitored populations is stated; the possible reasons are discussed. In addition, the present work also includes the results of the allozyme diversity analysis of the new detected populations as well as the rediscoveries of the period 2004-2008, which were not included in a former study of genetic diversity carried out in 2002-2003. It is necessary to emphasize that the contribution of the new populations to the genetic diversity of Stachys maritima is very small, which can be attributed to their limited population size and /or to founder effects. Despite that the species is included in the Annex 2 (“En Perill d’Extinció”) within the Catàleg de Flora Amenaçada de Catalunya (Catalogue of Endangered Flora of Catalonia), and some “soft” conservation measures have been applied at local level (signposting of the beach accesses, environmental education, etc.) coupled with other more significant measures (e.g. translocation of individuals discovered in an artificial sandbank), it would be necessary the coordinated action and the scientific support of any initiative of conservation that could be carried out. The general frame to initiate actions of conservation should be the recovery plan of Stachys maritima, whose draft and application is mandatory in accordance to the Catàleg

Laboratório de resíduos químicos do campus USP-São Carlos: resultados da experiência pioneira em gestão e gerenciamento de resíduos químicos em um campus universitário

A novel and unique in a brazilian university experience for rigorous handling of chemical residues of research and teaching is described. The activities since 1998 of a laboratory for the adequate treatment and recovery of chemicals at the São Carlos Campus of the University of São Paulo are summarized. The necessity of environment conscience future professional is enhanced.

Educação ambiental na universidade: construindo possibilidades

Environmental education is a big challenge in this century and the University has an important role to play in it. This paper presents a practical experience of environmental education in the university teaching at the University of Bahia. That experience involves the creation of an interdisciplinary group that has been developing research and teaching activities with interdisciplinary perspectives. The paper also discusses a methodology proposed by this group aiming to include environmental education in science teaching using social and cultural approaches.

Letramento em química, educação planetária e inclusão social

From the different conceptions on scientific and technology literacy (STL), and reflections on globalization and social inclusion, this paper points out the responsibility of the chemists in social actions by their associations for supporting political actions to improving the quality of life, and to protecting the environment by sustainable development for changing the modern society. Supporting ideas for equity within the society between the nations, and giving examples from approaching of socioscientific issues of the textbook "Chemistry and Society", it demonstrated the role of the teachers and the chemistry professionals to realize the STL of the people in the planetary perspective.

Educação ambiental nas escolas da região de Ribeirão Preto (SP): concepções orientadoras da prática docente e reflexões sobre a formação inicial de professores de química

During short courses, 95 secondary school teachers from 49 state schools and 421 students from the Ribeirão Preto region (in Sao Paulo state, Brazil, with a population of 530,000) were asked to fill in different questionnaires. The points raised in the teacher's questionnaire were used as a guide to establish a continuous dialogue during the short courses. Most of the schools claimed to have some kind of environmental education (EE). Based on the questionnaires and dialogues we analyzed how the teachers' perceptions on EE reflect on the views secondary students hold about their own responsibility for preserving the environment. The role of universities in the preparation of chemistry teachers capable of effectively approaching EE is also discussed.

Avaluació del projecte Edubosc

L’objectiu principal del Projecte Edubosc és apropar el bosc a l’aula per donar a conèixer a l’alumnat d’educació primària d’entre 8 i 10 anys, la gestió forestal sostenible i la seva importància per als nostres boscos i el seu futur. Per tal d’aconseguir aquest objectiu, el Projecte Edubosc proposa dotze activitats de sensibilització forestal que tracten temes com la multifuncionalitat del bosc, la relació del bosc amb l’aigua, els principals productes del bosc, els oficis vinculats al bosc, la prevenció del risc d’incendis i la titularitat dels boscos. Són temes que els llibres de text no tracten. Aquest treball fa una observació sobre com funcionen les activitats a diverses escoles, a partir dels resultats d’enquestes al professorat i als alumnes. Aquests resultats serviran per proposar alternatives i incorporar noves modificacions al projecte

Gestão integrada de resíduos químicos em instituições de ensino superior

Since chemical residues management must be seriously considered at institutions of higher education and due to the relevance of this subject for students, this work proposes the involvement of the scientific community in the establishment of a program for management of chemical residues at universities, starting with a committee, to coordinate the process. The program should integrate the entire scientific community in an organized effort. The program involves legislative, educational and environmental management aspects, with environmental education as an important tool to integrate all the administrative areas of a chemistry department.

Es parteix d’un document del passat, s’hi descriuen diferents casos de sortides observades i s’hi proposa seguir els components de l’educació ambiental per aconseguir una reorientació i una renovació de les sortides escolars

Um panorama sobre a abordagem ambiental no currículo de cursos de formação inicial de professores de química da região sudeste

This work analysed the contents of 701 disciplines from 22 chemistry courses that prepare chemistry teachers in 16 public Universities in Southeastern Brazil. Only a small number (23) of disciplines showed an explicit relationship between human activities and the environment. A total of 11 theoretical and 193 experimental disciplines explored to some extent scientific and technological aspects related to the environment, but did not include their relationship with society. As the experimental disciplines supposedly include some kind of waste treatment, this may explain why secondary school chemistry teachers work mainly on recycling programs and waste issues at their schools. The aim of this work is to provide information on which to base a much needed discussion about how to better prepare our chemistry teachers to act as Environmental Educators at school, as the Brazilian Education Legislation requires.
