Compact parallel optical modified-signed-digit arithmetic-logic array processor with electron-trapping device

A compact two-step modified-signed-digit arithmetic-logic array processor is proposed. When the reference digits are programmed, both addition and subtraction can be performed by the same binary logic operations regardless of the sign of the input digits. The optical implementation and experimental demonstration with an electron-trapping device are shown. Each digit is encoded by a single pixel, and no polarization is included. Any combinational logic can be easily performed without optoelectronic and electro-optic conversions of the intermediate results. The system is compact, general purpose, simple to align, and has a high signal-to-noise ratio. (C) 1999 Optical Society of America.

Classified one-step modified signed-digit arithmetic and its optical implementation

Based on the two-step modified signed-digit (MSD) algorithm, we present a one-step algorithm for the parallel addition and subtraction of two MSD numbers. This algorithm is reached by classifying the three neighboring digit pairs into 10 groups and then making a decision on the groups. It has only a look-up truth table, and can be further formulated by eight computation rules. A joint spatial encoding technique is developed to represent both the input data and the computation rules. Furthermore, an optical correlation architecture is suggested to implement the MSD adder in parallel. An experimental demonstration is also given. This dataset provides raw data of chemical analyses made during studies on seasonal variations of treated sewage effluent from Grasmere Treatment Unit in Cumbria. Measurements of sodium, calcium, potassium, magnesium and chloride ions were taken between 1974 and 1976.

This paper presents a large scale (1/10000) bathymetric chart along with the beach (s.l.) and shoreface schemes of Port-Bouet littoral. All these charts and maps contributed to identify the three morphological sub-areas which characterize the whole littoral area of Port-Bouet.

Choix d'une unité d'effort de pêche pour les flottilles sardinières sémi-industrielles et artisanales au Sénégal

Different catches per unit of effort available for industrial and artisanal sardinella fisheries of Senegal have been analysed and compared in order to determine whether they are acceptable indices of abundance. Among the four units of fishing effort studied (total number of sets, number of trips, time spent on fishing ground, searching time), the first and the second seem inadequate in the studied fleets. The two other units, particularly the searching time, allow the calculation of catches per unit of effort which best reflect variations in abundance, although they are not completely free of usual deficiencies.
