This article examines some aspects of the organization of multigrade schooling, taking as reference the state of Sergipe. It describes the profile, the conceptions and pedagogical practices of teachers working in multigrade classes in public schools. The data presented result from a statistical analysis of information collected by Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixiera (Inep) and from researches realized with public school teachers of Sergipe. The research has shown that the organization of multigrade schooling has different patterns and its central premise is the junction of years/grades, disregarding the age factor and inhibiting a possible pedagogical intervention, which considers the diversity of subjects and their lifetime. Therefore, it is necessary that teachers have a closer look at subjects of education in rural areas and build an educational intervention that goes beyond administrative aspects of formation of classes. The analysis of conceptions and practices of the teachers working in multigrade classes showed that the teaching work is obstructed by external determinations and by administrative barriers, inhibiting new reflections and practices that break up with the traditional logic of grades, permeated of excluding elements. The article aims to contribute to the dissemination of reflections and policies in the area of country education, especially for schools organized by multigrade schooling.

Cerca de um terço do total de doenças em adultos estão associadas a condições ou comportamentos que começaram na juventude. No Brasil, a porcentagem de Inatividade Física (IF) nos adolescentes varia entre 29% a 94%, que é um dado alarmante, pois esses adolescentes provavelmente serão adultos inativos fisicamente e com um risco maior de adquirirem uma doença de agravo não transmissível. Desse modo, o objetivo do estudo foi verificar a prevalência e os fatores associados à IF em escolares do Ensino Médio do município de Rio Claro- SP. Estudo do tipo transversal, de base populacional, realizado no primeiro semestre letivo de 2009 contou com a participação de 467 alunos (213 homens e 254 mulheres) das escolas particulares e estaduais do Ensino Médio do município de Rio Claro-SP. Para avaliar o de nível de Atividade Física (AF) dos adolescentes foi utilizado o Physical Activity Questionnarie-Children (PAQ-C). Foi aferido a circunferência de abdômen e calculado o Índice de Massa Corpórea (IMC). Os pais responderam um questionário para avaliar o nível de AF através do International Physical Activity Questionnarie (IPAQ) e o nível socioeconômico. Para verificar a associação entre as variáveis (sexo, nível socioeconômico, IMC e circunferência de abdômen) com o nível de AF dos adolescentes foi realizado a Regressão Logística e para verificar a associação entre o nível de AF dos adolescentes e dos pais foi realizado o Teste Qui-Quadrado. A prevalência de IF dos adolescentes foi de aproximadamente 83% e, dentre as variáveis analisadas, apenas sexo mostrou-se significante (p=0,00), sendo o sexo feminino com maior chance de IF.

After a long period of military dictatorship, the Brazilian people, following the redemocratization in the late 1980s, experimented the possibility of electing their political representatives. This experience of democracy and citizenship included in the electoral process, now, appear as one of the main challenges to make the Brazilian public schools more democratic and participative, through the election of school managers. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the historical aspects of the process of electing representatives in Brazil and the possibilities of direct elections for school managers. At first recovering the struggle of the Brazilian society in search of an effective political participation and, subsequently, pointing out the limits and possibilities of the introduction of direct elections for school managers as a mechanism to consolidate a more democratic school.

In present article, we present reflections on the process of closing public schools in the countryside in Brazil. Through bibliographical survey, as well as documental research, we carried out a retrospective analysis of the historical moment in which the implementation of policies of mass education directed to people living in rural areas occurs. We have also sought to raise socio-political-economic aspects of the moment in which the process of closing these schools is intensified. The results obtained suggest possible implications of this closure policy, in addition to indicating some of the challenges posed to the public policy of education in the country; for example, the Brazilian federal context and the budget limitations imposed to subnational governments with regard to the funding of school education, particularly in relation to small municipalities and/or municipalities with low tax revenues. This situation quite often occurs because these municipalities present reduced budgets, depending largely on transfers of financial resources from other spheres of the Government, either federal or state, the so-called intergovernmental budgetary transfers; namely, the Municipalities Participation Fund. Such issues demand the resumption of debates about the federative pact, in particular with regard to fiscal federalism, given that the financial capacity of each subnational government is crucial to the implementation of educational policies.

This paper analises data about public schools libraries from west of São Paulo State. By means of interviews with 110 school libraries co -ordinators and visits in loco, this text forms the school libraries profile. The main conclusion is the lack of dialogue between formal discourse and libraries school customs.

Although physical education is regulated by law and recognized as a mandatory component of basic education class, which includes high school, there are many reports that these classes do not actually happen. Such evidence shows the situation experienced by the author of this study, which brought this research to the attention. Therefore, the objective was to investigate and understand the perspective of students, physical education teachers, principals and coordinators forward their ideas to this reality, about the high school physical education in private schools. The research made use of qualitative approach, guided by an exploratory study. The technique was undertaken to collect the questionnaire with open and closed questions, involving 263 students enrolled in high school of four schools in two cities in the state of Sao Paulo and also the director, coordinator and professor of physical education of each one of these institutions, resulting in 12 education professionals. The categories of analysis were defined as: 1. Regarding physical education in high school, 2. The occurrence of physical rducation in high school, 3. Content and dynamic strategies developed in class 4. Student participation in class. The results show that despite, although some schools have physical education classes, there are still many students who do not take them. This reveals a double challenge to the area, which is: although it is essential that such a curriculum component is included in the grades (respecting the regional law legal system) that is not enough students that actually participate in it. As teachers, coordinators and directors recognize the importance of effective physical education, there are numerous of factors that deserve consideration to better understand this reality. Introdução: o trauma dentário na infância ocorre com grande frequência, em especial em ambientes escolares. Portanto, é importante que educadores e funcionários das escolas saibam o que fazer frente a essa fatalidade, pois, após sua ocorrência, a rapidez na intervenção do cirurgião-dentista é um dos fatores que determinará o prognóstico de sucesso no tratamento. Objetivo: o objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar o nível de conhecimento de professores de escolas públicas quanto ao tratamento emergencial em casos de traumatismo dentário. Métodos: quarenta professores de uma escola municipal e de uma creche foram entrevistados. O questionário abordava questões para identificação do perfil dos sujeitos, seu conhecimento acerca de primeiros socorros — incluindo traumas dentários —, qual tipo de traumatismo é mais frequente e quais são as condutas frente a esses traumatismos. Resultados: de um total de 40 entrevistados, 65% receberam treinamento de primeiros socorros, porém, apenas 52% receberam o treinamento do atendimento emergencial dos traumatismos dentários. Quarenta por cento já haviam presenciado casos de acidentes escolares envolvendo dentes, e a maioria dos entrevistados (55%) desconhecia a frequência com que isso ocorre. Um número significativo de pessoas tem dúvidas acerca da conduta correta a ser seguida quando da ocorrência de uma fratura coronária e da avulsão. Conclusão: conclui-se que o conhecimento dos professores sobre a conduta frente ao traumatismo dentário é inadequada. Programas educacionais, palestras explicativas e treinamentos devem ser realizados com esses profissionais, que são os primeiros a ter contato com casos de traumatismos dentários nas escolas.

This paper presents the aspects of an intercultural experience relative to the international partnership of teachingapprenticeship in public relations between the São Paulo State University (Brazil) and the University of Sevilla (Spain). The purpose is of reflecting on the interculturality and its importance for the graduation in public relations, presenting results of this academic experience. To this end, we seek to describe the partnership, discuss the influences of this teachingapprenticeship process and its intercultural experience.

As the Elementary School expanded quantitatively at the end of last century, a new social debate started on the quality of the education offered in public schools. Among many concerns and questions, there was the quality of literacy of the young people that finished the Basic Stage of Education. Federal documents drawn up over the last years, such as the National Pact for Literacy at the Right Age, defend that the obligatory literacy takes place until the end of the third grade of Elementary School. Based on this, it is intended that, at the end of the 5th school year of this education step, the students master the social practices of reading and writing that let them pursue their literacy process in the following school years. In this sense, the present study intended to observe and think over how the alphabetization (reading and writing technology acquisition) and literacy (using of written language in different social practices) processes happened at the end of the Elementary School I. In order to exploit to the full the meanings and conceptions involved in the presented theme, it was decided, methodologically, to elaborate a qualitative research, in where the adopted procedure was data survey and bibliographic research of authors that conceptualize, explain, relate and distinguish alphabetization from literacy. Next, it was performed a documental research based on laws and other Federal documents, from the State of São Paulo and from the municipality of Rio Claro-SP, observing the established discussion with the studied academic productions, as well as attributions given to the public school to perform the process of alphabetization and literacy. The visitation of these papers was also considered necessary for the understanding of expected knowledge, capabilities and skills of the student that finishes Elementary School I. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi verificar como a Praxiologia Motriz (PM) pôde contribuir na organizaçao do trabalho pedagógico dos professores do ensino fundamental das escolas públicas de Santa Maria, RS, sob o processo de ensino-aprendizagem dos Jogos Esportivos Coletivos de Invasao (JECI). A metodologia utilizada se pautou nos princípios da Pesquisa Participante, através de um estudo colaborativo com cinco professores-pesquisadores. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas, observaçoes das aulas, e registro das açoes em um diário de campo, buscando entender a realidade escolar onde os docentes atuam. Foram organizados encontros de formaçao sobre os JECI, buscando desenvolver a discussao sobre os elementos da estrutura e da lógica interna dessas manifestaçoes esportivas, pautados pelo CAI e pelos Universais Ludomotores. A partir dos conceitos da PM, como Lógica Interna, Interaçao Motriz, sistema de classificaçao e Comunicaçao Motriz, os pesquisadores debateram sobre as características destas práticas, como as relaçoes de Cooperaçao e Oposiçao que ocorrem de forma simultânea, eque deveriam estar presentes no processo de ensino-aprendizagem. Até o momento, podemos concluir que os encontros possibilitaram aos professores uma estruturaçao didático-pedagógica na criaçao de tarefas a partir dos critérios da lógica interna, utilizando princípios do Método Situacional, bem como a elaboraçao de um planejamento de conteúdos com base nesses conhecimentos
