State dependent volume isotope shift analysis of the low lying states of Ba I and Ba II

Relativistic multi-configuration Dirac-Fock wavefunctions, coupled to good angular momentum J, have been calculated for low lying states of Ba I and Ba II. The resulting electronic factors show good agreement with data derived from recent high-resolution laser spectroscopy experiments and results from a comparison of muonic and optical data.

Cyberbullying : una nova forma d'intimidació i assetjament. 'Cyberbullying : una nueva forma de intimidación y acoso'.

En los últimos años ha surgido una nueva forma de agresión, a menudo denominada 'cyberbullying', donde la agresión se produce a través de los medios informáticos, y más específicamente a través de los teléfonos móviles i de internet. No se trata de una experiencia cara a cara yeso concede al acosador cierta invisibilidad y anonimato. Se describe una breve historia de la investigación en estos términos dentro y fuera del Reino Unido, así como la metodología, la incidencia, la relación entre el uso de internet y la participación como cyber-acosador o cyber-víctima, las variables de edad, sexo, etc. establece también relación entre el acoso tradicional y el cyberacoso, el impacto del cyberacoso, la conciencia del problema por parte de los adultos, su comunicación. Finalmente, expone las conclusiones y el trabajo que desarrollaran tanto en investigación como en la práctica para prevenir e intervenir en el cyberbullyin, o cyberacoso.

Análisis de la movilización indígena promovida por el consejo regional indígena del Cauca-(C.R.I.C), como herramienta política y social para la restitución de los derechos de los pueblos indígenas del departamento del Cauca, en el marco de la Minga Social y Comunitaria.(2006-2010)

El análisis de este estudio se centra en describir el proceso que vivió la movilización indígena a través de la Minga de Resistencia Social y Comunitaria; que inició con diversas mingas a partir del año 2006 y se consolidó en el año 2009. Esta movilización tiene como fin exigir la restitución de los derechos de los pueblos indígenas del Departamento del Cauca. La Minga, se convierte en una herramienta política y social que a partir de la movilización empieza a estructurarse e involucrar a otros sectores de la sociedad.

Who am I? An identity crisis Identity in the new museologies and the role of the museum professional

Whilst the title of this essay suggests more than one “new museology”, it was rather a licence poétique to emphasize the two major theoretical movements that have evolved in the second half of the 20th Century[1]. As a result of the place(s)/contexts where they originated, and for clarity purposes, they have been labelled in this essay as the “Latin new museology” and the “Anglo-Saxon new museology”; however they both identify themselves by just the name of “New Museology”. Even though they both shared similar ideas on participation and inclusion, the language barriers were probably the cause for many ideas not to be fully shared by both groups. The “Latin New museology” was the outcome of a specific context that started in the 1960s (de Varine 1996); being a product of the “Second Museum Revolution”(1970s)[2], it provided new perceptions of heritage, such as “common heritage”. In 1972 ICOM organized the Santiago Round Table, which advocated for museums to engage with the communities they serve, assigning them a role of “problem solvers” within the community (Primo 1999:66). These ideas lead to the concept of the Integral Museum. The Quebec Declaration in 1984 declared that a museum’s aim should be community development and not only “the preservation of past civilisations’ material artefacts”, followed by the Oaxtepec Declaration that claimed for the relationship between territory-heritage-community to be indissoluble (Primo 1999: 69). Finally, in 1992, the Caracas Declaration argued for the museum to “take the responsibility as a social manager reflecting the community’s interests”(Primo 1999: 71). [1] There have been at least three different applications of the term ( Peter van Mensch cited in Mason: 23) [2] According to Santos Primo, this Second Museum Revolution was the result of the Santiago Round Table in Chile, 1972, and furthered by the 1st New Museology International Workshop (Quebec, 1984), Oaxtepec Meeting (Mexico, 1984) and the Caracas Meeting (Venezuela, 1992) (Santos Primo : 63-64)

Divinyldisiloxane and divinylsilane complexes of rhodium(I)

Reaction of the tetrakis(cyclooctene)rhodium(I) complex [{Rh(C8H14-c)2(μ-Cl)}2] with the appropriate divinyldisiloxane molecules (ViSiR2)2O (R=Me or Ph) yields, by displacement of the cycloctene ligands, the complexes [{Rh(ViSiR2)2O(μ-Cl)}2] (R=Me (1) or Ph (2)). These react further with a tertiary phosphine PR3 to give cis-[Rh{(ViSiR2)2O}(PR′3)Cl] (R′=Ph or C6H4Me-p). The complex cis-[{Rh(Vi2SiMe2)(μ-Cl)}2] (7) was similarly prepared by the displacement of ethylene from [{Rh(C2H4)2(μ-Cl)}2] by the divinyldimethylsilane Vi2SiMe2. X-ray molecular structures of the crystalline complexes 1, 2 and 7 show a distorted square planar Rh(I) environment, the CH2CH groups being orthogonal to this plane; 1 and 2 have the Rh–(ViSiR2)2O metallacycle in the chair conformation, but differ in the nature of the central Rh(Cl)RhCl core, which is planar for 1 and puckered for 2, but each of 1 and 2 is the rac-diastereoisomer, whereas 7 has the meso-configuration. In solution 1 and 2 exist as a mixture of isomers, probably the rac- and meso-pairs as established by multinuclear NMR spectral studies. A series of saturation transfer NMR spectroscopic experiments showed that the divinyldisiloxane ligands in [{Rh(ViSiPh2)2O(μ-Cl)}2] underwent a dynamic process involving the dissociation, rotation and then reassociation of the vinyl groups.

Implementation of a new urban energy budget scheme in the MetUM. Part I: Description and idealized simulations

This paper describes the formulation of a new urban scheme, MORUSES (Met Office–Reading Urban Surface Exchange Scheme) for use in the Met Office Unified Model. The implementation of the new scheme ensures that (1) the new scheme offers more flexibility in the parametrization of the building properties, and hence provides a more realistic representation of the fluxes; (2) the bulk outputs are in satisfactory agreement with previous observational studies; and (3) the impact of the new scheme on the energy balance fluxes is similar to the impact of the current urban scheme when set up to mimic it. As well as having a better physical basis, MORUSES also gains in flexibility in applications and adaptations to different urban materials as well as urban planning. The new scheme represents the urban area as a composition of two tiles, a canyon and a roof, using a simple 2D geometry. Sensitivity analysis to canyon geometry and thickness of the roof canopy emphasizes the gain in flexibility captured by the new scheme.
