É um trabalho de interdisciplinaridade entre o Direito e a Psicologia Social dentro da temática da discriminação trabalhista. Será apresentada a visão da Psicologia Social sobre preconceitos automáticos (“Implicit Bias”), assim como será discutida qual seria a melhor solução para o problema exposto. Ações afirmativas é o remédio mais adequado para combater preconceitos automáticos. O trabalho mostra a visão da Psicologia Social sobre a melhor forma de introduzir e conduzir as Ações afirmativas no mercado de trabalho. Será também feita uma análise jurídica constitucional e infraconstitucional das Ações afirmativas no mercado de trabalho, procurando entender se o ordenamento constitucional acolhe estas políticas no Brasil, bem como investigar o interesse do Estado em legislar para tornar tais iniciativas uma realidade.

In order to understand what is the situation of entities that serve children and adolescents today, as well as the institutional plot that comprises these institutions, we aimed to formulate a set of paradigmatic possibilities that would allow us to understand the configuration of the dialectical field of various pulses, in which these entities are located. We detected the subjects we associate with counterparts paradigms of Charity, of Human Promotion, of Philanthropy, of assistentialist government patronage, of Social Work as a State Policy, and finally, another set of events that we propose to designate as the paradigm of Citizen Subjects we associate with the ethical perspective of People Education. These paradigmatic possibilities range from the simply various and contrasting ones, including the similar and competing ones, to the dialectically contradictory ones. Its spectrum oscillates between tutelage and citizenship. The characterization of these didactic paradigms can provide us a compass that is required in a highly complex social field, allowing us to understand the variety of ethical effects promoted by these paradigms in the social field.

Building on the foundations of French Discourse Analysis and Social Psychology's developments on the issue of stereotypes, this paper analyzes the images of women available in works of self-help for women. With this purpose in mind, we have especially taken into account aphorizing enunciations present in works of this kind currently circulating in the market. The analysis shows the contradiction inherent to the self-help discourse for women, which proposes to women a pattern of behavior consistent with their emancipation, but, at the same time, contributes to keeping certain female stereotypes associated with their traditional roles.

This study investigated Social Care as an institution that creates mechanisms for the production of subjectivity in the care of children and adolescents. For this, we used some analytical coordinates, both conjectural and structural, models of care for mapping care in confrontation in the field of Social Care. It was concluded that there was two contradictory paradigms, in the dialectical sense, organizing social care, one being the philanthropic mode and the other the socioeducative mode. The first, which is hegemonic in the field, corresponds to a care entity still organized from philanthropic care and is guided by a minority age logic, articulated by a discourse of criminalizing the lower classes. It is informally based on the legal concept of irregular situations, which would develop preventive, repressive, correctional and moralizing care practices. The construction of a socioeducative mode implies socioeducative care that aims for an effective increase in the rights of children and adolescents, based on their status as subjects and citizens, through democratic, dialogic, participatory, multi-disciplinary and fundamentally emancipatory institutional practices.

Este artigo apresenta o movimento construcionista como uma perspectiva crítica em Psicologia Social que propõe compreender os processos de institucionalização que tornaram certos acontecimentos essencializados. Para tanto, enfoca o estudo das práticas discursivas, considerando a linguagem como prática que provoca efeitos. Essa perspectiva possibilita estudos que focalizam acontecimentos na interface entre os usos da linguagem e as condições de sua produção e veiculação. O movimento indica que é necessário direcionar pesquisas para os regimes de verdade que as práticas discursivas sustentam ou rompem e, também, para as relações de poder que controlam, selecionam e organizam os enunciados.

O presente trabalho, eminentemente voltado à metodologia de pesquisa em psicologia social, organiza-se em torno de três objetivos: definir em maiores detalhes algumas das principais características da etnografia, realizar um breve percurso histórico acerca das suas origens como prática cientificamente legitimada e, finalmente, discutir a sua atual utilização. De maneira conclusiva, enfatiza não apenas os limites, mas também as possibilidades da prática etnográfica, sustentando que a experiência de estranhamento que tradicionalmente a caracterizou continua trazendo em si mesma tanto o dinamismo quanto o potencial crítico necessários para manter em movimento o pensamento sobre ou, se preferirmos, com a diferença.

A etnografia pode ser definida como um método de pesquisa qualitativa que visa a descrição e o entendimento integrativo de fenômenos socioculturais presentes em grupos ou comunidades particulares de acordo com os próprios termos e atitudes daqueles que os vivenciam cotidianamente. Ao se voltar especificamente para esta dimensão ao mesmo tempo metodológica e ética da etnografia, o presente artigo adota como objetivo principal a realização de uma reconstituição histórica direcionada à reapropriação desta modalidade de estudos de campo por parte da Psicologia Social norte-americana e brasileira. Para tanto, focaliza um momento e uma instituição específicos: a primeira metade do século XX e a Escola Sociológica de Chicago, a qual aparece pensada aqui a partir de aspectos da vida e da obra de três dos seus principais representantes: Robert Park, George Mead e Donald Pierson. De maneira conclusiva, o artigo debate algumas das especificidades da prática etnográfica e, unindo passado e presente, defende a pertinência da sua utilização na contemporaneidade da pesquisa psicossociológica.

Os indicadores sociais se tornaram imprescindíveis no elenco de variáveis dos estudos epidemiológicos a partir da constatação de que a determinação dos agravos à saúde é complexa e multidimensional. Nessa perspectiva, a desigualdade social vem ocupando destaque como um fator explicativo das condições de saúde das populações. O objetivo é discutir as diferentes concepções que norteiam a seleção dos indicadores utilizados nos estudos epidemiológicos e abordar os efeitos psicossociais nos seres humanos acarretados pela desigualdade social. Foi realizada uma revisão da literatura acerca dos estudos epidemiológicos que utilizaram os indicadores de desigualdade social e capital social para uma melhor compreensão dos problemas de saúde, bem como uma investigação no campo da sociologia e da psicologia social. De acordo com a pesquisa pode-se constatar que há controvérsias sobre o efeito da desigualdade social na saúde humana pelo fato desses indicadores serem baseados, majoritariamente, pela renda e capacidade de consumo dos indivíduos. Da mesma forma, os indicadores de capital social em nível cognitivo e estrutural são muito limitados para compreender o dinamismo das relações sociais. Nesse sentido, são necessários mais estudos para a construção de indicadores sociais que contemplem a complexidade das sociedades modernas.

O campo da Psicologia Social é apresentado como território fértil, na contemporaneidade, para constituir-se como um laboratório para a produção em Ciências Humanas, uma vez que, no século XX, cada vez mais o social foi em direção ao psicológico. Neste campo, nosso embate dá-se no modo como entendemos o hífen pressuposto na integração psicossocial. A autora propõe que, entre o psicológico e o social, o hífen domina, pois ele é a própria essência relacional que é inerente a cada um dos elementos. Sugere que o modelo para entender o homem e suas circunstâncias proposto por Freud imbrica de forma indissociável o psicológico e o social, a ontogênese e a filogênese, com uma potência que teve impacto sobre todo o campo das Ciências Humanas. A Psicanálise é um instrumento hermenêutico para colaborar na elucidação dos fenômenos sociais. A autora utiliza imagens construídas por Freud e Walter Benjamin e poemas de Carlos Drummond de Andrade para fortalecer o entendimento do hífen psicossocial tanto em sua ação multidimensional quanto em sua organização.

The current study integrates system justification theory with research on mental illness stigma. Stereotypes of both low- and high-status groups in society can be a means of satisfying the system justification motive, or the motive to view societal inequalities as justified (as reviewed in Jost, Banaji, & Nosek, 2004). Corrigan, Watson, and Ottati (2003) proposed that system justification theory may be able to explain the origins of particular stereotypes of people with mental illness, such as dangerousness and incompetence. The primary goal of the present study was to investigate whether the stigmatization of people with mental illness – a specific form of stigmatization of a lowstatus group – can be at least partially attributed to a broader motive to justify societal inequalities. To test this, the current study included both an experimental manipulation of the perceived legitimacy of the social system and a measure of system-justifying beliefs. Stigmatization of individuals with mental illness was measured with both explicit selfreport measures (semantic differentials and the Attribution Questionnaire) and an implicit measure (a computer-based Implicit Association Test). The relationships between participant characteristics, such as personal experience with mental illness, and stigma were also investigated. Consistent with past research demonstrating only modest correlations between explicit and implicit stigma, greater self-reported fear toward a person with a chronic mental illness was weakly associated with increased implicit bias against mental illness in favor of physical disability. There was little support for the involvement of system justification in explicit stigma. Participants with personal experience with mental illness were less likely to self-report fear and avoidance of a person with a chronic mental illness. These findings have implications for stigmareduction efforts.

BACKGROUND: Social cognition is an important aspect of social behavior in humans. Social cognitive deficits are associated with neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders. In this study we examine the neural substrates of social cognition and face processing in a group of healthy young adults to examine the neural substrates of social cognition. METHODS: Fifty-seven undergraduates completed a battery of social cognition tasks and were assessed with electroencephalography (EEG) during a face-perception task. A subset (N=22) were administered a face-perception task during functional magnetic resonance imaging. RESULTS: Variance in the N170 EEG was predicted by social attribution performance and by a quantitative measure of empathy. Neurally, face processing was more bilateral in females than in males. Variance in fMRI voxel count in the face-sensitive fusiform gyrus was predicted by quantitative measures of social behavior, including the Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS) and the Empathizing Quotient. CONCLUSIONS: When measured as a quantitative trait, social behaviors in typical and pathological populations share common neural pathways. The results highlight the importance of viewing neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders as spectrum phenomena that may be informed by studies of the normal distribution of relevant traits in the general population. Cezary Trutkowski (Poland). Social representations of Politics. Mr. Trutkowski is an assistant in the Institute for Social Research of the University of Warsaw and worked on this research from August 1997 to July 1999. Research into social representations requires the use of various methods to show the phenomenon from different angles. In contrast with the contemporary trend towards the measurement of attitudes in opinion surveys, Trutkowski examined social representations of politics in order to study the problem of political participation. He thus aimed to study a problem which he sees as social in nature from a really sociological perspective. His research revealed a very distinctive difference between the social representations of politics shared by politicians and by the general public. The former consider politics in general as struggle for power which can be used to pursue their own vision of social order. They perceive political activity as a kind of homage to be paid to the greater idea that they pursue. At the same time, politicians admitted that politics is very often treated by political actors as a means of gaining personal profit, becoming purely a fight for the power to rule. According to voters, politicians should be treated as employees on a contract, the duration of which depends on their performance. Politics is therefore not a homage to an idea but a service to citizens. They did however admit that this is wishful thinking in Poland today. A content analysis of electoral campaigns confirmed the dark side of the representation of politics: politicians spend the campaign making promises and presenting visions on television, and quarrelling and fighting in everyday activities that were reported by the press. Trutkowski sees his research as a contribution to the foundations of a new approach to studying mass phenomena. By reviving some forgotten ideas of Durkheim and the Chicago School and incorporating the theory of social representations with a new methodological programme, he believes that it is possible to build a more social social psychology and sociology.

This paper examines the mitigating effect of social accounts on retaliatory behavior in a miniultimatum game setting. Results from games with 108 German high school students support the hypothesis that an ex ante informational and sensitive message can decrease an individuals’ negative perception of an unfair offer and increase the acceptance of the outcome. Furthermore, the moderating effect of gender on retaliatory behavior is investigated. We show that an informational and sensitive message makes more of a difference for women in accepting unfair distributions than it does for men.
