O sublime e o problema da modernidade em Pedro Kilkerry

Current paper discusses manifestations of the sublime in Pedro Kilkerry´s poetry as one of the distinguishing characteristics within the Parnassian orientations predominant in his cultural context. The particular way that Kilkerry employs the sublime´s expedients demonstrates the dialogue of his poetry with Romantic ideals, whose traits in his lyrical stance are directly linked to Symbolist influence, far from traditional Parnassian models. The sublime in Kilkerry develops through an elliptical and suggestive language that demonstrates the impossibility of the ideal being directly expressed and shows the affinity of his poetic work with the idealist crisis that marks post-Romantic poetry and provides the basis on which the poetics of Modernity is structured. The poetry of Pedro Kilkerry develops within a complex zone of convergence between the models provided by the Parnassian aesthetic, Romantic idealism with an atavic presence to Symbolism, and the search for new answers to old idealistic concerns. The meeting of these three conflictive currents, perceptible in the manifestations of the sublime in Pedro Kilkerry´s poetry, demonstrates his lyrical sensitivity to the trends of Modernity.

Reflexões sobre o estabelecimento de vínculos afetivos interpessoais na atualidade

In studies about the subjectivation process in contemporaneity and the social context in which one is inserted nowadays, the contemporary world is often characterized by the ascension of the narcissism – or individualism – and consumerism as a baseline to all other recent changes. The excessive valorization of aesthetics; the influence of media and marketing and the culture of image; the loss of the “inner side” and inter-human interchanges; against the exacerbation of the superficial and external, appear as essential transformations to the new configuration of the so called “post-modern” subjectivation process, privileged and reinforced by capitalist society. Next to them, exists an individual discontent – a malaise in the individual’s life – usually associated to an interior emptiness and general dissatisfaction in face of idealizations and self-esteem fluctuations. This work tries to understand how individuals establish affective bonds and social relationships in this contemporary context, connecting the contemporary context and relevant concepts to this study, including the idea of romantic love, narcissism and the “state of helplessness” in psychoanalysis, subject’s development and a parallel discussion with social-historical texts. The study, of a theoretical character, is located in the intersection between "individual" and "society" – a subjectivity, therefore, formed internally, within the individual, and submitted directly to social influence – and analyzes the determinants and influences that they exert upon one and another, based on critical-reflective readings and textual analysis of works in the fields of sociology, psychosociology and psychoanalysis.

Via Láctea: História (parnasiana) de uma paixão

Poesias (1888), Olavo Bilac’s first book, contains Via Láctea, a collection of sonnets of love that, in frank rupture with the romantic sentimentalism, is characterized by neoclassical moderation and contention. Universalizing treatment of the themes results in concealment of the particular circumstances in which the poems were composed. It is intended in these few pages to evidence the links between these texts and known episodes of the courtship of the poet and Amélia de Oliveira, the sister of Alberto de Oliveira, with the goal of providing an understanding of Via Láctea as a “love diary” in which the painful stations of a frustrated passion were registered.

The present study is a reflection on the representation of the literary myth of Dom Juan in the work El estudiante de Salamanca (1836-1840), by Joseph de Espronceda. It highlights the most significant aspects of their recreation donjuanesca, since the classic elements taken from the founding work of Tirso de Molina to Romantic Titan which characterizes Dom Félix de Montemar.

Vias oblíquas da trasncendência: aspectos do idealismo em Augusto dos Anjos e Pedro Kilkerry

This essay analyzes the manifestations of the idealism of romantic orientation in the poetry of Augusto dos Anjos and Pedro Kilkerry, showing the points of contact between their oeuvres and demonstrating that many of the innovative aesthetic procedures of their poetry appear as a reaction to urgencies of an idealistic conception of poetry. Augusto dos Anjos and Pedro Kilkerry attest the anxiety of apprehension of connections with a super-sensible sphere in phenomenal reality. Although this takes a different form in each of the poets, it can refer to a common poetic ideal that transcends the concrete reality. To accomplish this, they use aesthetic procedures that modernize the language of the romantic sublime – Augusto dos Anjos uses a hybrid philosophical repertoire that marks his poetry with a tense and innovative prosaic language, and Pedro Kilkerry opts for the indirect representation, made by an evocative and metonymic language, that evidences the mystery of the transcendent ideal without deciphering it.

Through brief comments on famous texts of Randolph Caldecott, Rudyard Kipling and Christina Rossetti, we intend to show to the reader aspects of children’s literature written in the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901), in which authors inherited the Romantic idea that child and childhood are pure, close to nature in a way that the adult man is not. Moralizing texts, they taught children how to be an adult.

Les premières pièces de Victor Hugo ont été les responsables d'une véritable révolution dans l'histoire de las Litterature Française, mais elles n'ont pas eu une acceptation immédiate de la part de la critique, qui s'est partagée entre les partidaires des romantiques et, par conséquent, de nouvelles idées diffusées par le Cénacle et les classiques, les adversaires des jeunes écrivains qui ont embrassé les concepts hugoliens, Au Brésil, la réacrion a été postérieure, mais identique. Qualqu'on ne trouve pas dans les journaux des discussions à propos de la nouvelle école, des nouvelles idées ont été, au début, rejetées par les intellectuels brésiliens et, quelque temps plus tard, adoptées par les écrivains désirant créer un théâtre national basé sur les prinipes défendus par Victor Hugo, le porte-parole du mouvement romantique.

O artigo discute o desvio, realizado por Machado de Assis em Iaiá Garcia, das expectativas da narrativa sentimental e a comparação estabelecida entre os dois triângulos amorosos: Jorge, Estela e Luís Garcia, de um lado, e Estela, Jorge e Iaiá Garcia, de outro. Considerando a ação das paixões e do sistema escravocrata na conduta das personagens, aborda o confronto entre a convenção do amor paixão e a instituição do casamento como instrumento de ascensão social.

El arquitecto que murió dos veces. En Clarin: ARQ

Los arquitectos trascendemos a partir de nuestras obras y continuamos viviendo a través de ellas… Es así si no media una topadora y gente con poco conocimiento a cargo. Lo que comento tiene relación con el triste anuncio de ARQ (24/7/13) sobre la demolición de la comisaría en Santo Pipó, Misiones. Integrante del grupo formado por Boris Davinovic, Augusto Gaido, Francisco Rossi y Clorindo Testa, ordenados alfabéticamente, así figuran en los planos enviados al desarrollar el proyecto luego de ganar el concurso nacional de anteproyectos para puestos de salud y comisarías, es decir que aún no era el famoso arquitecto, antes incluso del Banco de Londres, la obra que lo proyectó nacional e internacionalmente. Los concursos organizados por la provincia fueron para consolidarse, ya que al ser Territorio Nacional no tenía contenedores arquitectónicos de suficiente jerarquía para alojar las funciones del poder provincial, salvo dos y ambos en Posadas: la Casa del Gobernador de Corrientes, de fin del siglo anterior y el edificio construido en 1944 para la Feria Nacional de Turismo y Yerba Mate que luego se reformulará para la Legislatura. Es así como estos concursos cubrirán el territorio provincial de obras destinadas a los más variados fines, pero con un lenguaje predominante y común. En ese cruce entre arquitectura y política, ¿por qué el lenguaje identitario de ese tiempo histórico fue el del Movimiento Moderno? En cierto sentido heroico apelaba a la construcción de un significado nuevo que dejando atrás las propuestas arquitectónicas del pasado se proyectara hacia el futuro interpelando las categorías fundacionales y alejándose de la tentación de extraer analogías de la impronta preliminar que habilitaba un eclecticismo romántico.
