Neural Networks have been successfully employed in different biomedical settings. They have been useful for feature extractions from images and biomedical data in a variety of diagnostic applications. In this paper, they are applied as a diagnostic tool for classifying different levels of gastric electrical uncoupling in controlled acute experiments on dogs. Data was collected from 16 dogs using six bipolar electrodes inserted into the serosa of the antral wall. Each dog underwent three recordings under different conditions: (1) basal state, (2) mild surgically-induced uncoupling, and (3) severe surgically-induced uncoupling. For each condition half-hour recordings were made. The neural network was implemented according to the Learning Vector Quantization model. This is a supervised learning model of the Kohonen Self-Organizing Maps. Majority of the recordings collected from the dogs were used for network training. Remaining recordings served as a testing tool to examine the validity of the training procedure. Approximately 90% of the dogs from the neural network training set were classified properly. However, only 31% of the dogs not included in the training process were accurately diagnosed. The poor neural-network based diagnosis of recordings that did not participate in the training process might have been caused by inappropriate representation of input data. Previous research has suggested characterizing signals according to certain features of the recorded data. This method, if employed, would reduce the noise and possibly improve the diagnostic abilities of the neural network.
Conceptual Model and Security Requirements for DRM Techniques Used for e-Learning Objects Protection
Resumo:
This paper deals with the security problems of DRM protected e-learning content. After a short review of the main DRM systems and methods used in e-learning, an examination is made of participators in DRM schemes (e-learning object author, content creator, content publisher, license creator and end user). Then a conceptual model of security related processes of DRM implementation is proposed which is improved afterwards to reflect some particularities in DRM protection of e-learning objects. A methodical way is used to describe the security related motives, responsibilities and goals of the main participators involved in the DRM system. Taken together with the process model, these security properties are used to establish a list of requirements to fulfill and a possibility for formal verification of real DRM systems compliance with these requirements.

This article describes the process of prototyping adaptive online learning using the authoring tool for developers, which is based on ontologies. The article also gives a brief overview of contemporary situation and describes modern trends of evolution e-learning courses and present standards in this area. It also describes architecture of system VITA II.

The paper represents a verification of a previously developed conceptual model of security related processes in DRM implementation. The applicability of established security requirements in practice is checked as well by comparing these requirements to four real DRM implementations (Microsoft Media DRM, Apple's iTunes, SunnComm Technologies’s MediaMax DRM and First4Internet’s XCP DRM). The exploited weaknesses of these systems resulting from the violation of specific security requirements are explained and the possibilities to avoid the attacks by implementing the requirements in designing step are discussed.

It is proposed to use one common model of computer for teaching different parts of the informatics course, connected with both hardware and software subjects. Reasoning of such slant is presented; the most suitable themes of the course, where it is practical, are enumerated. The own author's development (including software support) – the educational model of virtual computer "E97" and compiler from Pascal language for it – are described. It is accented, that the discussed ideas are helpful for any other similar model.

This work proposes a model for planning of education based on resources and layers. Each learning material or concept is determined by certain characteristics: a layer and a list of resources and resource values. Models of studied subject domain, learner, information and verification unit, learning material, plan of education and education have been defined. The plan of education can be conventional, statical, author’s and dynamic. Algorithms for course generation, dynamic plan generation and carrying out education are presented. The proposed model for planning of education based on resources and layers has been included in the system PeU.

Organizations are seeking new, integrated systems that enable rapid changes through early identification of opportunities and problems, tracking of progress against plans, flexible allocation of resources to achieve goals, and consistent operations. Total Quality Management (TQM) is an overall business strategy. It means that all activities of the company will be focused on satisfying all stakeholders of the company. TQM can be realised by using the EFQM model. The EFQM model is a tool that organizations may use as a framework for self-evaluation that enables an organization to identify its strengths and areas for improvement and the extent to which its operations and results are in line with the characteristics of an excellent organization. We focus on a training organisation or to the learning department of an organization. So we are limiting the EFQM model to the training /learning activities. We can apply EFQM perfect on the level of an activity (business line) of a company. We selected the main criteria for which the learner can play the role of assessor. So only three main criteria left: the enabling resources, the enabling processes and the (learning) results for the learner. We limited the last one to “learning results” based on the Kirkpatrick model.

In the paper learning algorithm for adjusting weight coefficients of the Cascade Neo-Fuzzy Neural Network (CNFNN) in sequential mode is introduced. Concerned architecture has the similar structure with the Cascade-Correlation Learning Architecture proposed by S.E. Fahlman and C. Lebiere, but differs from it in type of artificial neurons. CNFNN consists of neo-fuzzy neurons, which can be adjusted using high-speed linear learning procedures. Proposed CNFNN is characterized by high learning rate, low size of learning sample and its operations can be described by fuzzy linguistic “if-then” rules providing “transparency” of received results, as compared with conventional neural networks. Using of online learning algorithm allows to process input data sequentially in real time mode.

The paper proposes a 3D model which could be used as a tool for increasing the effectiveness of e-learning. It also offers an approach for applying this 3D model for increasing the effectiveness of e-learning. This approach has methodical value in line with the idea for dynamic adjustment of the individual learning profile of each student in order to increase the personalization level in the e-learning process.
