E-learning means learning via electronic means and is therefore an all-embracing term covering learning via an electronic device. The "expectations" and "realities" for each of the delivery mechanisms within the electronic arena vary greatly for not just the learners themselves, but also the site providers. Because of this, each of these learning systems has vastly different design principles, which is not always understood by those unfamiliar with technology. What is appropriate for a CD-ROM off-line system is generally inappropriate for an on- line internet system. So when designing an e-learning system it is important to understand how the information is to be accessed by the learner. This paper will identify and suggest some ways to avoid e-learning's pitfalls and reap its rewards.

In this paper we consider two computer systems and the dynamic Web technologies they are using. Different contemporary dynamic web technologies are described in details and their advantages and disadvantages have been shown. Specific applications are developed, clinic and studying systems, and their programming models are described. Finally we implement these two applications in the students education process: Online studying has been tested in the Technical University – Varna, Web based clinic system has been used for practical education of the students in the Medical College - Sofia, branch V. Tarnovo

Presented is webComputing – a general framework of mathematically oriented services including remote access to hardware and software resources for mathematical computations, and web interface to dynamic interactive computations and visualization in a diversity of contexts: mathematical research and engineering, computer-aided mathematical/technical education and distance learning. webComputing builds on the innovative webMathematica technology connecting technical computing system Mathematica to a web server and providing tools for building dynamic and interactive web-interface to Mathematica-based functionality. Discussed are the conception and some of the major components of webComputing service: Scientific Visualization, Domain- Specific Computations, Interactive Education, and Authoring of Interactive Pages.

The paper discusses facilities of computer systems for editing scientific and technical texts, which partially automate functions of human editor and thus help the writer to improve text quality. Two experimental systems LINAR and CONUT developed in 90s to control the quality of Russian scientific and technical texts are briefly described; and general principles for designing more powerful editing systems are pointed out. Features of an editing system being now under development are outlined, primarily the underlying linguistic knowledge base and procedures controlling the text.

Михаил Константинов, Весела Пашева, Петко Петков - Разгледани са някои числени проблеми при използването на компютърната система MATLAB в учебната дейност: пресмятане на тригонометрични функции, повдигане на матрица на степен, спектрален анализ на целочислени матрици от нисък ред и пресмятане на корените на алгебрични уравнения. Причините за възникналите числени трудности могат да се обяснят с особеностите на използваната двоичната аритметика с плаваща точка.

The article presents a new method to automatic generation of help in software. Help generation is realized in the framework of the tool for development and automatic generation of user interfaces based on ontologies. The principal features of the approach are: support for context-sensitive help, automatic generation of help using a task project and an expandable system of help generation.

The European Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation project “Teacher training to improve attractiveness and quality of management education through the simulation tool ‘Emerald Forest’” which emphases on using the computer simulation tool for increasing attractiveness of teaching and learning in economics is presented in this paper. This paper presents an innovative approach for enhancing digital libraries functionalities. An innovative distributed architecture involving digital libraries for effective and efficient knowledge sharing was developed. In the frame of this architecture semantic services were implemented, offering multi language and multi culture support, adaptability and knowledge resources recommendation, based on the use of ontologies, metadata and user modeling. New methods for teacher education using digital libraries and knowledge sharing were developed. These new methods were successfully applied in more than 15 pilot experiments in seven European countries, with more than 3000 teachers trained.
