Überlegungen zur Positionsbestimmung der deutschen Zeitgeschichte

Die gegenwärtige Situation der deutschen Geschichtswissenschaft ist durch eine ungewöhnliche Offenheit gekennzeichnet. Die Krise der tradierten Großdeutungen schafft Raum für neue, konkurrierende Sinnkonstruktionen. Hinzu kommt eine Erweiterung der methodologischen Vielfalt. Vor allem die Zeitgeschichte ist von der Konkurrenz neuartiger 'Erinnerungsspezialisten' betroffen, die meist jenseits der professionalisierten Geschichtswissenschaft stehen. Auf diese Herausforderungen muss auch die Neugestaltung der Studiengänge reagieren. Generell sind die Chancen, die eine größere Pluralität bietet, zu begrüßen, doch ist auch das Risiko der Orientierungslosigkeit nicht zu unterschätzen. Für eine sinnvolle Neustrukturierung der Studiengänge sollte das Prinzip der Leistungsauswahl eine stärkere Bedeutung erhalten. Inhaltlich könnte das Thema einer "demokratisierten Geschichte der Deutschen in europäischer Perspektive" eine mögliche Richtung weisen.

Manner of Obtainment as a relative in a family of resultative constructions

The present paper examines the syntactic and semantic properties of a group of constructions which carry an idiomatic interpretation of obtainment. In Polish and German, the constructions under consideration consist of a verb with a directional particle followed by an object NP, as exemplified in (1a)-(1b). (1a) Adam wynurkował starego buta. (Polish) Adam wy- snorkeled old shoe. ‘Adam found an old shoe while snorkeling.’ (1b) Michael erboxte sich den Titel. (German) Michael er- boxed REFL the title. ‘Michael boxed his way to the (championship) title.’ Sentences containing these constructions will be assumed to have the same basic interpretation “Subject obtains/produces Object by V-ing”. A constructional analysis of the constructions will be proposed, as they pose licensing problems and their interpretation cannot be accounted for in terms of the individual conceptual structures of the lexical items composing the sentence. Unlike most accounts of verb particle constructions based on implicit or explicit assumptions of straightforward semantic composition, the present study proposes an analysis under which the semantic structure of verb particle combinations is not a compositional function of the verb and the particle/prefix alone. It is argued that the construction comes with its own subcategorization frame (separate from that carried by the verb) which is motivated by the meaning of the construction and its corresponding constructional subevent. Additionally, a crosslinguistic correlation will be shown to hold between a language’s ability to express event conflation (Talmy 1985, 2000) and the occurrence of some form of the construction in that language. This will be taken as an indication of the resultative nature of those types of directional phrases which involve the semantic interpretation of boundary crossing.

Grußwort der Prorektorin

In ihrem Grußwort erinnert die Rechtswissenschaftlerin und Prorektorin der Universität zu Köln, Prof. Dr. Barbara Dauner-Lieb, an die Worte des einstigen Kölner Oberbürgermeisters, Konrad Adenauer, aus dem Jahr 1919, mit denen er Völkerversöhnung und Völkerverständigung als besondere Aufgabe der damals gerade wiedereröffneten Universität zu Köln beschwört. Dauner-Lieb zeigt auf, in welcher vielfätigen Weise die Universität zu Köln heute diesem Anspruch genügt: Neben Austauschprogrammen, EU-geförderten Projekten und vielfältigen weiteren Projekten mit europäischen Fragestellungen weist sie insbesondere auf zwei Studiengänge hin, die an der Philosophischen und der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät gleichzeitig studiert werden und den Studierenden besondere Karriere-Chancen bieten: Der Deutsch-Französische Masterstudiengang Rechtswissenschaft und der Verbundstudiengang Europäische Rechtslinguistik. Sie erwähnt allerdings auch Projekte und Tendenzen der Europäisierung an den Universitäten, die sie mit großer Skepsis betrachtet, darunter den Bologna-Prozess als solchen. Dieser könne zu einem Werteverlust führen, ohne gleichzeitig neue Werte zu schaffen. Damit appeliert Dauner-Lieb an eine kritische Auseinandersetzung der Wissenschaft mit der Europäisierung.

myTU - Neue Ideen und Konzepte

myTU, eine persönliche Lernplattform für Smartphones, die seit 2011 an der Technischen Universität Bergakademie Freiberg im Einsatz ist, wird zukünftig mit neuen und erweiterten Funktionen ausgestattet. Ziel ist es eine generalisierte Lernplattform für alle Hochschulen anzubieten, die das BYOD-Konzept konsequent umsetzt. Ausgehend von der derzeitigen Struktur und Umfang des Projektes wird eine Verbindung mit OPAL geschaffen, das Layout und die Schnittstellen generalisiert, Funktionen erweitert und ein mehrstufiges Authentisierungskonzept entwickelt und integriert. Im Folgenden wird der Status Quo erläutert und neue Konzepte des Projektes vorgestellt.

Surface quality of profile extrusion dies manufactured by Selective Laser Melting

The design of plastics profile extrusion dies becomes increasingly more complex so that conventional manufacture processes reach their limit in the die manufacture. A feasible manufacture of arbitrarily designed dies is only possible by additive manufacturing. An especially promising process is hereby the Selective Laser Melting with which metal parts with series identical mechanical properties can be produced without the need for part specific tooling or downstream sintering processes. Disadvantegeous is, however, the relatively rough surface of additively manufactured parts. Against this background, the manufacturing of an profile extrusion die by Selective Laser Melting and the plastics profile surface quality, that can be achieved with such dies, is investigated. For this purpose, profiles are extruded both with an additively manufactured die and a conventionally milled sample of the same die geometry. In case of the additively manufactured die a concept for the surface finishing of the flow channel is required, which can be applied to arbitrarily shaped geometries. Therefore, two different reworking processes are applied only to the die land of the flow channel. The comparison of the surface roughnesses shows that the additively manufactured die with a polished die land delivers the same surface quality as the conventional die.
