Purpose provides a moral compass for young people to apply their strengths and virtues in their lives. Deepen the studies about youth purpose may contribute to the design of new and more efficient moral education strategies, aiming the development of greater citizenship awareness, social justice and youth engagement in the construction of a society based on democracy, justice and social solidarity. This research paper explores the identification of life goals, the beyond the self or self-oriented purpose in life, a meaningful engagement in purposeful activities and the well-being and satisfaction with life in Brazilian youth engaged and not engaged in social and community issues.

The training of the dentist should be aligned with the demands of social needs. For this to happen, contents related to the main problems faced by the population, such as domestic violence, must be addressed in their education. The present study aims to evaluate the degree of knowledge of dentists in relation to domestic violence, as well as verify that the Curriculum Grades of five private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and five state HEIs are in accordance with what is required in Curriculum Matrices established for undergraduate dentistry. It is a cross-sectional study with the application of a questionnaire to dentists of Basic Units of a small municipality in the interior of São Paulo and analysis of the Political-Pedagogical projects and curricular matrices of the HEIs. It was found through this research that only 9.1% of dentists know how domestic violence cases are recorded, 20% are familiar with the legislation and all the professionals are not aware of the records of notifications of violence. With respect to the curricula, between 86.37% and 94.12% of the curriculum content is focused on technical disciplines. A lack of professional efforts in addressing the problem in what refers to the identification and reporting of cases and, the lack of awareness of the legislation on the subject was found. There was also the need to adapt the curricula of the HEIs towards an approach of the subject, seeking to adequate them by the demand of the society with regard to the responsibility of the dentist in the treatment, notification and prevention of the phenomenon.

Buscou-se cartografar as instituições de assistência social que atendem à infância e à adolescência consideradas em situação de risco pessoal e social, em um município do interior do estado de São Paulo, utilizando o instrumental da análise institucional. O papel de membro do Conselho Municipal dos Direitos da Criança e do Adolescente e do Conselho Municipal de Assistência Social facultou a realização de uma análise documental nos arquivos desses Conselhos, relativa às entidades assistenciais cadastradas, tais como organizações governamentais, organizações não-governamentais e outros estabelecimentos filantrópicos. Os resultados indicam que, no universo da Assistência Social, a constelação criança/adolescente orbita em torno do astro-rei socioeducativo. Todas as atividades desenvolvidas nas entidades parecem recobertas por esse significantemestre, que conota dimensões pedagógicas e terapêuticas, educativas e corretivas, de vigilância e de prevenção, promovendo controle e normalização.

Este artigo discute a trajetória intelectual e política de Paulo Egídio. Autor praticamente esquecido pelos trabalhos que reconstituem a história do pensamento social no Brasil, Paulo Egídio foi um importante divulgador da sociologia entre o final do século XIX e o início do século XX em São Paulo, tendo produzido uma obra pioneira sobre Durkheim e desenvolvido cursos livres da disciplina. O artigo busca também apresentar alguns aspectos de sua atividade política como senador nos primeiros momentos da República, quando teve destacada participação no debate sobre a criação de uma rede de instituições de controle social e, em particular, sobre a construção de uma nova penitenciária para o estado de São Paulo.

A current trend in the agricultural area is the development of mobile robots and autonomous vehicles for precision agriculture (PA). One of the major challenges in the design of these robots is the development of the electronic architecture for the control of the devices. In a joint project among research institutions and a private company in Brazil a multifunctional robotic platform for information acquisition in PA is being designed. This platform has as main characteristics four-wheel propulsion and independent steering, adjustable width, span of 1,80m in height, diesel engine, hydraulic system, and a CAN-based networked control system (NCS). This paper presents a NCS solution for the platform guidance by the four-wheel hydraulic steering distributed control. The control strategy, centered on the robot manipulators control theory, is based on the difference between the desired and actual position and considering the angular speed of the wheels. The results demonstrate that the NCS was simple and efficient, providing suitable steering performance for the platform guidance. Even though the simplicity of the NCS solution developed, it also overcame some verified control challenges in the robot guidance system design such as the hydraulic system delay, nonlinearities in the steering actuators, and inertia in the steering system due the friction of different terrains. Undocked institutions widely dilate the scope of time-space distancing, since the separation between these elements is crucial for the extreme dynamism of modernity. This separation is the prime condition of the process of disembedding, in which the displacement of social relations of local contexts of interaction and its redesign through indefinite extensions of time and space are favored. Therefore, there are two types of dislocated mechanisms intrinsically involved in the development of social modern institutions: symbolic tokens and expert systems. These mechanisms depend on reliability. Within this context, this present paper sees the professional life cycle of the teacher in the perspective of the expert system. It also sees the work stability of public servants in the symbolic token perspective, more specifically public teachers in Brazil. This paper also attempts to propose some reflections on what a disembedding in Brazilian education would mean and on how an eventual impasse between teachercentrism and studentcentrism would affect this process if necessary or desired, from one would understand by modernity.
