Apontamentos críticos para o tratamento da questão ambiental na perspectiva da emancipação

The belief in the existence of an ecological crisis that would affect the future of the planet, is one of the factors that causes the appearance of ecological concern, resulting in the adoption of non-predatory consumer practices and more respectful relationships with non-humans beings. This study starts from the assumption of the existence of an environmental question, and aims to investigate some of the cultural causes of human predation and identify possible ways in which environmental question can be treated critically to search overcomes. Follows the reasoning that western society as a complex of social relations, the capitalism, as a mode of production utilities and rational right, are all consequences of the modern rationality, cognitive and moral logic that transforms people and nature in satisfaction instruments of individual interests. However, despite being identified as the causative root of environmental question, modern rationality takes with it enough to promote the development of ecological respect, necessary in confronting and overcoming the environmental question, as it will be applied as a principle in redefinition of the relationship of human beings with themselves and with nature. And modern rationality can also make capitalism more efficient in the use and reuse of materials so as to consume fewer resources on the planet to satisfy human needs.

The increasing degradation of the environment and the depletion of natural resources, caused by indiscriminate production practices, by current and unlimited human needs and also misconceptions that natural resources are inexhaustible, make current and future environment situation, a constant concern of national and world leaders. With the purpose to confront these issues and to qualify the cities on the environmental situation in the state of São Paulo, the Department of the Environment created, in 2007, the Program “Município VerdeAzul. This paper aims to the study this program of Unit Water Resources Management Pontal Paranapanema through specific analysis of data representing the efficiency of the program directives and a comparative study between two cities unit with discrepant scores and a survey of the possible causes of obtaining low scores for municipalities participating in the project. DNA viruses in human cancer: An integrated overview on fundamental mechanisms of viral carcinogenesis

The first experimental data suggesting that neoplasm development in animals might be influenced by infectious agents were published in the early 1900s. However, conclusive evidence that DNA viruses play a role in the pathogenesis of some human cancers only emerged in the 1950s, when Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) was discovered within Burkitt lymphoma cells. Besides EBV, other DNA viruses consistently associated with human cancers are the hepatitis B virus (HBV), human papillomavirus (HPV), and Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus (KSHV). Although each virus has unique features, it is becoming clearer that all these oncogenic agents target multiple cellular pathways to support malignant transformation and tumor development.
