Fundação Casa. a mútua descoberta da realidade do outro

In this paper we present a report of a project developed with young people who were in detention on the CASA Foundation, former FEBEM in Araraquara, in the period in which the activity occurred. Our goal with the project was twofold: that our presence at the Foundation supports the young people in that institution with leisure and social reintegration, and to enable students to make experience of new strategies for teaching undergraduate and citizenship training. The project developed there was entitled "The Art of Storytelling" and, and despite its catchy title, actually had a much less ambitious goal, which was not just enable artists to exercise the storytelling, but chiefly to raise awareness that our worldview and our inner lives are made up by micronarratives, which not only place us in the universe into which we belong and also creates our own identity. Having this perspective as a starting point and following the theoretical assumptions of Paulo Freire, for whom the learning process is interactive and based on the exchange of experiences, we held five meetings and the experience was enriching, both for students and for the Foundation´s youngs that took part in this activity.

Rui Barbosa: mito, memória e esquecimento

The remembrance of Rui Barbosa has always involved the maintenance of myths fabricated during his lifetime while a reappraisal of his intellectual, literary and political dimensions has been forwarded. Current essay discusses from several bibliographical samples on Brazilian social thought the manner the memory of the lawgiver from Bahia has been appropriated civically and intellectually. A qualitative and quantitative contrast was established between Barbosa���s works published and referred to and those by Joaquim Nabuco, Sílvio Romero and Gilberto Freyre. Oscillations in the evaluation of Barbosa���s works occurred during the 20th century that brought about a decrease in their value and about the memory on the historical subject.

Frederico Barbosa���s poetry builds an intricate and amazing maze of words and meanings in which negativity and emptiness concepts emerge to be the expressing voice of the lyric subject. This article aims to follow the routes of this poetry in terms of its poetic and linguistic procedures, of giving shape to its critical point of view on poetry itself and on the fears and edges of humanity.

Amélia Beviláqua que era mulher de verdade: a memória construída da esposa de Clóvis Beviláqua

Based on Clovis Bevilaqua’s four biographies which present three stigmas of the character - being the son of a priest, engaged in a large grammatical legal controversy with Rui Barbosa in making the Civil Code of 1917 and married to a wife of exotic modes - we discuss the built memory of Amelia Carolina Freitas Bevilaqua, who is marked as a pioneer of the feminist movement in Brazil and also upstart writer who aspired to join the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Among other negative adjectives, she was sloppy, not vain and misaligned in dress, futile or adulterous.

A escola primária como tema do debate político às vésperas da República

Este artigo discorre sobre o pensamento pedagógico de Rui Barbosa expresso em seus pareceres sobre a Reforma do ensino primário e várias instituições complementares da instrução pública e outros trabalhos extraídos de suas Obras Completas. Trata-se de indagar qual era a perspectiva do ideário liberal sobre educação em finais do Segundo Império no Brasil e qual a possível repercussão desse debate para as discussões travadas sobre educação durante a vigência da Primeira República.
