Radiotherapy is a branch of medical physics related to the treatment of malignant neoplasm, being an important instrument in the fight against cancer, when combined with the effort of a multidisciplinary team, composed of, physicians, physicists, nurses and technicians. Every year more than 3.5 million new cases of cancer are recorded in the world, being the prostate cancer responsible for approximately 25% of this amount (INCA and IARC, 2008). In this type of cancer, radiotherapy is a method indicated for treatement. The technological advance in this area over years has allowed a greater accuracy in the tumor location, more conformation of the radiation beam around the tumor, reducing the dose in healthy tissues and a consequent dose increase on treatment (Bedford et al., 1999). A radiotherapy planning, in which the physicist develops an important role, is composed of several steps, including choosing the best configuration of treatment beams. This choice has a close relationship with success of therapy and is critical to achieve the best distribution of dose inside the tumor and expose the least as possible the healthy tissue to radiation. In this work, two options for setting up camps in the first phase in a treatment of prostate cancer were simulated in computer planning: 4 fields orthogonal or “Box” with gantry angles in 00, 1800, 2700 e 90° and 4 fields angled or “X” (1350, 450, 3150 e 2250). The percentage of the rectal volume exposed to 40, 50, 60, 72 and 76 Gy should be limited to 60, 50, 25, 15 and 5% respectively (Greco et al., 2003). The femoral toxicity have limited dose by 70% of the total dose prescribed in a prostate treatment (Bedford et al., 1999). The planning of 27 patients with prostate adenocarcinoma submitted to 3D conformal radiotherapy were accompanied. As a result, it was assessed that the best TCP (tumor control probability)... Este trabalho discute sobre como a habitação social vem sendo desenvolvida no Brasil e apresenta uma proposta de loteamento urbano para as classes sociais menos favorecidas economicamente na cidade de Presidente Prudente. A idéia do projeto é a de comparar um loteamento com vias ortogonais, lotes privados e espaços de lazer públicos bem separados, com uma proposta cujas unidades habitacionais estariam dispostas de forma a criar áreas verdes integradas ao convívio social. Para isso foram considerados aspectos sociais, econômicos, formais e funcionais. A elaboração do trabalho começou com estudos sobre o tema e com levantamento bibliográfico, quando nasce essa inquietação sobre habitação social no Brasil, verificou-se a carência de bons projetos arquitetônicos em uma relação quantitativa. A partir daí, foram analisadas diversas pesquisas e propostas que relacionam a urbanização brasileira e a forma como ela se apresenta com relação a unidades habitacionais, com interesse social, ou seja, para pessoas de baixa renda, com foco na cidade de Presidente Prudente (São Paulo). De acordo com esses estudos, foi feito um levantamento de possíveis áreas de implantação de um loteamento onde foi constatada a existência de um terreno não edificado, em uma área com infra-estrutura e dentro do perímetro urbano. Esta área de aproximadamente 100 mil metros quadrados foi escolhida para a realização do trabalho de comparação das diferentes formas de produção do espaço urbano

Códigos esféricos n-dimensionais gerados por grupos comutativos em dimensão par, n = 2m, podem ser determinados pelo quociente de reticulados m-dimensionais, quando os vetores que geram o sub-reticulado são mutuamente ortogonais [4]. Apresentamos a construção de sub-reticulados nestas condições, a partir do reticulado hexagonal, A2. Comparamos a distância mínima do código esfé- rico construído através do quociente destes reticulados com o limitante da distância mínima estabelecido em [5].

Employing the method of least squares and quadratic B-spline polynomials, different statistical models were tested to identify the most appropriate to model the mean trajectories of live weight and carcass yield of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Data of live weight (8,758) and carcass yield (2,042) of tilapias with ages between 106 and 245 days were obtained from 72 families derived from 36 males and 72 females. The sex and tank variables were considered as classificatory and the coefficients of quadratic polynomials B-spline of two to five intervals of the same size were used as covariables. According to most fit criteria used, the models with quadratic B-spline polynomial with five intervals of the same size presented the best adjustments. The increase in number of intervals of B-spline polynomial improved the fit of the polynomials to the data. The inclusion of classificatory effects from sex, tank, the interaction of these effects and the quadratic polynomial B-spline nested in this interaction indicated that, over time, each sex, grown in different tank, presented different mean trajectory, necessitating the inclusion of nesting time in the interaction sex x tank in order to avoid the under or overestimation of breeding values of the selection candidates in breeding programs of this species.

The Areado Group of the Sanfranciscana Basin is a Lower Cretaceous continental sedimentary system that is correlated to the Brazilian Pre-Salt beds. The Aerado Group is composed of Abaeté, Quiricó and Três Barras formations. Paleocurrent data for the Areado Group were previously presented, although not systematically which prevented significative interpretations on the basin paleogeography. This work attempts to systematically evaluate paleocurrent data, aiming to recognize depositional environment and paleogeographic reconstruction, based on the sedimentary facies and paleocurrents measurements along vertical profiles. Fluvial paleocurrents of the Abaeté Formation indicate paleoflows towards NW whereas aeolian palecurrents of the Três Barras Formation show paleowinds towards SW. The depositional systems interpreted for the Areado Group were: braided river, alluvial fan, lacustrine, playa lake, fluvial-deltaic and aeolian. The combined analyses of facies and paleocurrents allowed a reliable paleogeographic reconstruction of the basin, with paleodip towards northwest, paleowinds towards south-southwest and source-area located at southeast. These results indicate that paleowinds were orthogonal to paleostream, but parallel to depositional strike of the basin. The interpreted depositional systems characterize a desert environment during the Abaeté sub-basin times. The association of dunes and wet interdunes followed by large scale dunes and dry interdunes suggests a decrease in humidity towards the top of the Três Barras Formation, with a dry aeolian system onlapping the basement. The observed decrease of humidity in Sanfranciscana Basin may reflect local or regional paleoclimatic changes during the opening of the South Atlantic, but this assumption is only tentative

The objective of the study was to analyze the features of the relief through the variables: maximum altitude (HM); mean altitude (Hmd); minimum altitude (Hm); altitude range (H); average slope length (CVm); minimum length of run-off (Cd) and average steepness of circular samples (I) of the Capivara River Watershed – Botucatu (SP). A total of 4 circular samples were obtained per unit of soil (Quartzipsamment alfisol oxisol - RQ, Udox - LVA and Udorthent - RL). Multivariable analysis and aerial color photographs of 2000, Brazilian Chart and Soil Chart of Botucatu city-SP were used for data analyses. Soil differentiation was performed using the Student-t Test for analyzes of orthogonal contrasts among means of the three soils and analysis of groupings and major components. The grouping analysis of the variables of relief differentiated 75% of LVA and 100% of RL and RQ soil circular samples. The most efficient parameters of relief for differentiation of soils according to their order of importance were as follows: HM, Hm, Hmd and H.
