Dentre as várias espécies de café, Coffea arabica L. destaca-se pela sua ampla importância comercial relacionada ao consumo da bebida e à produção de óleo. O grão de café possui grande quantidade de compostos fenólicos bioativos - destacando-se os com atividade antioxidante e fotoprotetora - e após a extração do óleo há sobra de grande quantidade de subprodutos, denominado torta. O objetivo desse trabalho é produzir um extrato a partir da torta de café selecionando o melhor solvente extrator, avaliando o teor de compostos fenólicos e o potencial antioxidante, para o emprego como ativo cosmético em formulações desenvolvidas, com análise in vitro para quantificação do Fator de Proteção Solar (FPS) dessas. Os extratos foram previamente produzidos por sonicação utilizando solventes de diferentes polaridades, e o extrato escolhido foi produzido em maior escala por maceração e realizado também extração exaustiva com o solvente escolhido (extrato etanólico 70%, v/v). Na determinação do teor de fenólicos totais foi utilizado o método com o reagente Folin-Ciocalteu. Foi avaliado também o rendimento (m/m) dos extratos e atividade antioxidante pelo método do radical DPPH. O extrato apresentou boa atividade antioxidante e alto teor de compostos fenólicos em comparação com outras plantas consideradas referências nessas propriedades. Para o preparo das formulações foram utilizados matérias primas aprovadas pela ANVISA, e as quantidades dos filtros solares químicos empregados para obtenção de Fator de Proteção Solar (FPS) teórico próximo de 30, utilizou-se como ferramenta o BASF - Sunscreen Simulator. As formulas desenvolvidas e preparadas foram analisadas com o equipamento Optometrics SPF 290S, capaz de fazer a determinação do FPS por análise in vitro. This paper aims the preparation, characterization and study of luminescence, particularly as for the cerium ion action as activator or sensitizer, in diphenylphosphinate of lanthanum compounds trivalent ions cerium-, europium-, and/or terbium-doped. The following compounds were prepared and studied: i) La1-(x+y)CexEuy(DFF)3; ii) La1-(x+y)CexTby(DFF)3; iii) La1-(x+y+z)CexEuyTbz(DFF)3, with x = 10%, y = 5% e z = 5%. The diphenylphosphinate of lanthanum, Ln[(Ph2)PO2]3, are complexes obtained by the mixture of lanthanides chlorides with diphenylphosphinic acid, ethanol medium. These compounds make white powders, crystalline, insoluble in normal temperature and pressure, and are chemically and thermally stable. When doping with Ce3+, Eu3+ and/or Tb3+, the compounds present characteristic luminescence. Luminescent materials are made of a host matrix incorporated with few amounts of ions called activators, which are able to present luminescence after being excited by UV light or high energy radiation, and sensitizer ions, which have the role of absorbing excitation energy and transfer it to the activator, for it to emit luminescence radiation. The infrared vibrational spectroscopy indicates that the coordination occurs by the oxygens of phosphorile group with ΔνPO of about 40 cm-1 compared to the free ligand. The X Ray difractograms of compounds Eu- and/or Tb-doped are similar, but they present profile of diffraction different observed by Stucchi and col. In previous papers, indicated an influence of Ce in the crystalline phase formation of these matrices. In luminescence spectrums, the excitation that can be made by the levels of ligand in 273 nm, or cerium ion in area between 300 and 400 nm were observed. In the emission spectrum, with excitation in 273 nm, is possible to observe the emission of Ce3+ below 400 nm and the Eu3+ in 592, 611 and 617 nm, and the...as a sensitizer to.

The aim of this work was to analyze the acute oral toxicity and the effects on intestinal motility of the extract obtained through decoction 20% (m/v) of Endopleura uchi, popularly known as "uxi-amarelo", a native plant from the Brazilian Amazon. The plant is used indiscriminately against several diseases: arthritis, cholesterol, diabetes, ulcers, myomas, and intestinal illnesses in general, among others. The present results show that there were no significant alterations in intestinal motility and that the extract does not present signs of toxicity, showing its safety for consumption purposes.

Eriocaulaceae species are popularly known as sempre-vivas. This family comprising approximately 1.200 species divided into 10 genera, with high endemic levels. Paepalanthus genus has high incidence in the Espinhaço Range region and the report of biological activities. Despite the large number of previous studies with Eriocaulaceae species, Paepalanthus geniculatus has no studies about their scapes, which demonstrates the need for new research to identify their chemical and biological composition. The aim of this work was to study the chemical composition of P. geniculatus ethanolic extract seeking the isolation and identification of metabolites and evaluate the radical scavenging activity of the extract and isolated substances. P. geniculatus were collected in Serra do Cipó-MG in 2013 (Voucher: SANO 3193) and the scapes were dried, crushed and the powder was percolated with ethanol. With the etanolic extract it is carried out a fractionation by gel permeation chromatography, yielding fractions analyzed by TLC assay. The fraction J89 (45,6 mg) was purified by semipreparative HPLC-PDA, resulting in the isolation of substance S1. The fractionation was also performed by medium pressure liquid chromatography, yielding fractions analyzed by TLC assay. The fraction number 4 (92,6 mg) were purified by semipreparative HPLC-PDA resulting in the isolation of substances S2 and S3. The substances S1 and S3 were analyzed by mono and twodimensional NMR, resulting in the identification of 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (protocatechuic acid) and the flavonoid 6-hydroxyquercetin-7-O-β-Dglucopyranoside. The substance S2 were identified by comparison with standards, were it was possible to determine the presence of the flavonoid 6-hydroxy-7- methoxyquercetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside.
