The purpose of this work is to study the incorporation of hydrogen production (Case A) and the process of gasification of sugarcane bagasse associated with combined cycle gas turbine and steam turbine (Case B) for Distillery Pioneers process. These technologies can be used to improve the energy supply in the sugarcane mill. Initially the processes for obtaining sugar and ethanol from sugarcane is discussed, with a theoretical introduction to hydrogen, the process of steam reforming and gasification of biomass (bagasse) by inserting a turbine associated with the recovery boiler gas. Subsequently makes up the energy and exergy analysis of the incorporation of the above technologies. In end stage makes it an ecological analysis considering or not the carbon cycle (photosynthesis), to determine the levels of emissions of pollutants, carbon dioxide equivalent, indicators of pollution and ecological efficiencies associated with technological developments proposed. It is concluded that hydrogen production by steam reforming of ethanol and gasification of bagasse are viable alternatives from the point of view of technical and environmental applications in the biofuels industry, contributing to the development of the sector in the country

When handling soil conservation practices isn’t applied correctly, they cause problems at the level of structure, cohesion and fertility in soils and lack of water availability. In the case of this monograph, conducted in a rural property located at Álvares Machado City, identified that most areas are intended for use activities of beef cattle and dairy and subsistence agriculture, which historically addition to withdraw native flora, resulting in problems such as compaction and increase soil exposure to climatic agents, generating a serious frame of erosion problems. In the case of water from rainfall, the soil exposed, causes the “splash” effect and therefore when it becomes runoff carries the spalled particles mainly for low land areas. Without the vegetation, especially trees or shrubs species, the velocity of runoff increases, initiating the appearance of furrows, which consequently may become a kind of ravine erosion and gully, which makes invalid any area in your surroundings... The Golfinho Field is located in the offshore region of the Espírito Santo Basin. Its importance is linked to the current average production about 19,000 barrels of oil per day, in turbidite reservoirs , giving it the nineteenth placement among the largest oil fields producing of Brazil. By interpretation and correlation’s methods based on 2D seismic sections and geophysical well logs, the study of tectonic-sedimentary evolution of major Golfinho Field’s reservoirs, which are located in Maastrichtian , aims understand and characterize the geological model of the area for the purpose of identify the main structures and types of reservoirs, improving the geological understanding of the area and using this knowledge at similar sets, that may present exploratory success in similar cases. By structural contour maps and geological cross-sections generated since time-depth conversion , the results defined for the geological model of the area , two distinct tectonic styles: a distensinal tectonics style , characterized by grabens and horsts , which belongs to rift phase, and a salt tectonics style, characterized by salt domes , listric faults and folds rolllover folds type, which belongs to marine phase . The interpretation of seismic sections and subsequent analysis of the main deformations present in the Maastrichtian reservoirs rocks ( turbidites ) showed that the northern region of the field is the most affected by salt tectonics . As for reservoirs, it was concluded to be associated to tectonics formed by rollover folds type, being older than listric faults

Air pollution is an environmental issue worldwide and frequently cause negative effects on population health and ecosystems on cities. The relationship between climate and atmospheric pollution can be used as a surrogate to the intensity of air pollution. The present and quantity of some gases can be used as indicators to air quality: particulate matter (PM), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Among those gases, CO has its major source within the cities, where automobiles are the main emitter. But measure pollutant concentration are challenging, sometimes because the lack of good equipments due to high costs and of the large variability of models that varies in precision, way of measure and distribution of sellers. Modeling are useful when there are an intend to evaluate air pollution, its sources and evaluate scenarios. This work aims to use CAL3QHCR model developed by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to generate predictive surfaces of CO concentration distribution on a site within Campinas city, located in São Paulo state, Brazil. CAL3QHCR model use data urban automobile circulation to generate spatial results for CO distribution. We observed that the pollution concentration was lower on our modeling than the concentrations measured by Companhia Ambiental do Estado de São Paulo (CETESB), the main environmental company on the São Paulo state. Also the correlation between average estimates of our model and the measure by CETESB was weak, indicating that the model used on this study need to be or better parameterized, or the scale we measured of CO emissions need to be rescaled. Although the model failed to correlate to CETESB data, maybe one that explore the estimated emissions distributed within the sites to understand spatial distributions of CO on the regions. Also, the generated information can also be used to other studies, and come to be useful to explain heat island

A contaminação do solo por metais potencialmente tóxicos constitui um dos principais problemas ambientais. Por meio da lixiviação e percolação das águas, esses metais podem ser mobilizados e vir a contaminar mananciais superficiais e subterrâneos, comprometendo sua qualidade. A biodisponibilização desses metais para as plantas e, a partir dessas, para o homem é outro desfecho negativo dessa situação. O cádmio é um elemento tóxico. Os teores encontrados nos solos costumam não oferecer riscos. Porém, esses teores são potencializados pela utilização de fertilizantes. O níquel pode ser carcinogênico em doses elevadas. Sua presença em fertilizantes fosfatados proporciona maiores concentrações do metal no solo. É amplo o registro sobre efeitos do excesso desses metais, tanto em plantas, quanto em animais e no ser humano. O manganês é um dos elementos mais abundantes na crosta terrestre e se encontra largamente distribuído em solos, sedimentos, rochas, água e materiais biológicos. Contrariamente aos dois metais anteriores, esse micronutriente é um elemento essencial ao ser humano. Sua carência causa inúmeras enfermidades, por outro lado, seu excesso também. Nesse caso, poucos são os relatos sobre o assunto. Nesse estudo foram utilizados métodos de extração de metais de fertilizantes e se constatou que, quando presentes, os metais cádmio e níquel apresentaram concentrações proibitivas o que é motivo de preocupação e demonstra a falta de controle sobre a indústria de insumos agrícolas. Para o manganês não há parâmetros orientadores com limites de teores, mas com certeza, são necessários trabalhos nesse sentido para se evitar seu consumo indiscriminado.

In regarding to the high prevalence of traumatic dental injuries in primary teeth and the possible disturbances on developing permanent successor germs, an early diagnosis and an adequate establishment of treatment planning are very important to minimize the damage caused by the trauma. Sequelaes can affect the coronal portion (white or yellow-brown discoloration associated or not with enamel hipoplasia, dilacerations of the crown), the root portion (dilaceration, duplication or cessation of root formation) or the whole successor permanent tooth (odontoma sequestration or disturbances of permanent successor eruption). The aim of this study is to make a literature review of the developmental disturbances of permanent teeth followed by traumatic injuries to theirs primary predecessors and to present cases reports to advise the dentists, their patients and parents about the damage that developing permanents teeth can undergo.

A articulação coxofemoral em cães tem sido, ao longo dos anos, a mais frequentemente lesionada, principalmente de forma traumática, por acidentes automobilísticos ou atropelamentos. O tratamento de escolha para resolver a luxação coxofemoral é o método por redução fechada. Entretanto, na generalidade dos casos, esta técnica não se mostra suficiente para correta estabilização articular, pois há outras afecções envolvidas ou a cronicidade da lesão impede uma manobra efetiva. Sendo assim, recorre-se à cirurgia para correção da luxação. Diversas são as técnicas cirúrgicas praticadas para tal enfermidade. O pino transarticular é um procedimento usado há muito tempo. Essa técnica requer aceitável coaptação articular e é recomendada em casos de grave lesão capsular. Porém, seu uso é discutível por causar lesões degenerativas na articulação ou migração do implante. Dessa forma, a sutura extra-articular vem sendo estudada por apresentar uma estratégia alternativa que não prejudica as estruturas da região operada e por vir demonstrando resultados satisfatórios. Nas situações de luxação recorrente, necrose asséptica da cabeça do fêmur e fraturas de cabeça e colo femoral ou acetabular, a colocefalectomia deve ser empregada. Considerada como técnica de salvamento, esta pode ser utilizada após insucesso dos outros métodos para correção da articulação coxofemoral. Vários estudos foram selecionados para que seus resultados fossem analisados. Assim conclui-se que não existe uma técnica ideal. Todas apresentam adequada congruência articular, porém os implantes metálicos exibem grandes possibilidades de complicação pós-operatória, a sutura extra articular fornece boa estabilidade e poucas lesões locais e a colocefalectomia fica sendo como o último recurso, caso ocorra falha...

Children learn very early which groups are stigmatized and how they should be treated. They learn formally and informally, by listening and watching people and the world around them. The construction of children's representations about disabilities starts with access to information on the subject, which may come from their caregivers, media, school etc. This work is part of a monograph that examined the effects of an educational program involving strategies for non-disabled children on conceptions and attitudes concerning mental disability. This paper refers to the initial characterization of these children and their access to information on disability, and to identifying previous access, source and memory of such information. The study included 40 children from two classrooms of the first grade of a public school in Marília, SP. The children were interviewed using an individual semi structured questionnaire. Many children said they did not have access to information on the subject. Among those who had previous access to the information, the television was the most frequent source of information, and characteristics of the deficiencies, relations with diseases and encouragement of solidarity were among the contents reminded by them. The data emphasize the need for the media to expand concerns with the content presented to the public, for parents and teachers to become more involved with the issue, seeking to be informed and revise their own conceptions, in order to transform the subject into something that is part of daily school and family environment.
