Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar ao leitor a síntese de um estudo que compara a realidade de escolas do ensino fundamental, verificando as determinações da lei n.º 9394/96 e suas condições de aplicação envolvendo análise de dados teóricos e observações em campo empírico referentes a aspectos como aplicação de recursos financeiros, implementação de novas propostas pedagógicas, atuação de organismos multilaterais e formação profissional dos professores.

Anísio Teixeira e a Psicologia: o valor da mensuração

This article analyzes the ideas and the work of Anísio Teixeira in the 1920s and 1930s, focusing on his views about the value of measurement for educational reform in Brazil. Considering that the thinking and practices of Teixeira should be understood in the context in which it was developed, the study presents the history of the presence of psychological knowledge in education, with special attention to the entrance of the Psychometrics in the New School movement. The paper concludes that, by defending the use of measurement, Teixeira has remained true to the goal of the New School that required to diagnoses scientifically the school universe, which was necessary to respond to the growing demand for schooling and the educational disabilities of the Brazilian educational institutions.

Mediação como processo semiótico: em busca de bases conceituais

In the context of the studies in the Information Science, the information not just depends on meaning, but the social bows are current of this. The research in development analyse conceptual elements to answer the question about the semiotic foundations of the information mediation processes. This paper aim to know and analyse the semiotic foundations of the information mediation processes in the Information Science context. It presents concepts and reflections regarding the relationship of the information mediation process Charles Peirce's Semiotics, especially, the discussion about the semiotic bases to information mediation process. It discusses the information mediation as a specialization of the communication process, developed, fundamentally, for the human action trying to solve communication and technical problems in sociocultural order.

2 '-Deoxyguanosine, 2 '-deoxycytidine, and 2 '-deoxyadenosine adducts resulting from the reaction of tetrahydrofuran with DNA bases

A recent study showed that tetrahydrofuran (THF), a widely used solvent, is carcinogenic in experimental animals. Despite its carcinogenic activity, there is a paucity of information regarding cellular toxicity, biomolecular damage, and genotoxicity induced by THF. We describe here the structural characterization of adducts produced by the reaction of oxidized THF with 2'-deoxyguanosine (dGuo-THF 1 and dGuo-THF 2), 2'-deoxyadenosine (dAdo-THF), and 2'-deoxycytidine (dCyd-THF). Adducts were isolated from in vitro reactions by reverse-phase HPLC and fully characterized on the basis of spectroscopic measurements. The stable derivatives obtained by the reduction of adducts with NaBH4 ( the case of dGuo-THF 1, dCyd-THF, and dAdo-THF) and the stable adduct dGuo-THF 2 were used as standards for optimization of chromatographic separations for adduct detection in DNA through HPLC/ESI/MSMS. Using this methodology, we successfully detected the four adducts in calf thymus DNA reacted with oxidized THF. The present study also provides evidence that rat liver microsomal monooxigenases oxidize THF to the reactive electrophilic compounds that are able to damage the DNA molecule, as indicated by a significant increase in adduct dGuo-THF 1 level when NADPH was added to the THF/ microsomes/dGuo incubation mixtures. Our data point to DNA-THF adducts as possible contributing factors to the toxicological effects of THF exposure.

A NEURAL NET FOR EXTRACTING KNOWLEDGE FROM NATURAL-LANGUAGE DATA-BASES

The present paper introduces a new model of fuzzy neuron, one which increases the computational power of the artificial neuron, turning it also into a symbolic processing device. This model proposes the synapsis to be symbolically and numerically defined, by means of the assignment of tokens to the presynaptic and postsynaptic neurons. The matching or concatenation compatibility between these tokens is used to decided about the possible connections among neurons of a given net. The strength of the compatible synapsis is made dependent on the amount of the available presynaptic and post synaptic tokens. The symbolic and numeric processing capacity of the new fuzzy neuron is used here to build a neural net (JARGON) to disclose the existing knowledge in natural language data bases such as medical files, set of interviews, and reports about engineering operations.

Variabilidade genética e filogeografia de populações de Prochilodus lineatus (Pisces: prochilodontidae) das bacias dos rios Paraguai-Paraná e da bacia Amazônica: bases para programas de conservação e de psicultura

A espécie Prochilodus lineatus, considerada um migrador por excelência, possui intensa ocorrência durante a migração reprodutiva. São peixes de elevado valor econômico e a sua adaptação em cativeiro os tornam altamente interessantes para desenvolvimento de programas de piscicultura. O monitoramento regular das variações genéticas nos estoques é importante em programas de conservação, evitando o declínio da variabilidade genética, essencial para a conservação das espécies. No entanto, os poucos dados moleculares populacionais para Prochilodus lineatus justificam a presente proposta. Nesse sentido, tivemos como objetivo caracterizar a variabilidade genética e estabelecer as relações filogeográficas entre 6 populações de P. lineatus das bacias dos rios Paraguai (2 do rio Paraguai e 3 do rio Cuiabá, MT) e Paraná (1 do rio Mogi-Guaçu, SP), num total de 34 indivíduos. Outros 16 indivíduos dos rios: da Prata, Uruguai, Paraná, Bermejo, Paraguai, Amazonas e Madeira, cujas sequências foram obtidas do National Center for Biotechnology Information (Genbank), foram analisados, totalizando assim, 50 indivíduos. Como grupo externo foi utilizado Salminus brasiliensis. O estudo foi realizado através das análises das sequências do gene mitocondrial ATPase 8/6. O interesse do uso de um gene mitocondrial está na vasta literatura que esse possui em análises filogenéticas e na confiança que existe nos dados gerados de tais análises. O gene citado foi completamente sequenciado (842pb), as análises filogenéticas foram conduzidas pelos métodos “Neighbor Joining (NJ)”, “Minimum Evolution (ME)” e “Máxima Parcimônia (MP)”, com 1000 réplicas de bootstrap no programa MEGA 5.0. Para análises filogeográficas as sequências foram analisadas no programa TCS e no programa Arlequin. Os resultados auxiliarão em uma melhor compreensão da história evolutiva, migração... All the time, organizations are seeking ways to relate to their audiences, in order to become stronger institutionally and merchandising. In the era of information technology contacts occur increasingly in virtual form, minimizing the face-to-face. Thus, this study contextualizes the trade fairs as a way to bring business relations / public interest in a real environment and provides the friendly atmosphere, much as in a short time, the company with a large amount of their customers, potential customers, partners, suppliers, and other audiences that may be interesting. However, shows that for the success of these events is a necessary strategic planning, so that subsequent implementation is possible to measure the results. It also envisions the trade fairs getting a new format, that is, their commercial character to give the space for the relational as a way to bring more awareness to organizations and to strengthen ties with their audiences. This beneath the optics of Public Relation as the appropriate professional to manage relationships and therefore be the strategist of the company's participation in a trade fair

Mensuração das dimensões cardíacas pelo método VHS (Vertebral Heart Size) em cães

It is imortant to be able to evaluate the cardiact size . In 1995, was proposed by Buchanan and Bücheler a new way to measure the dimensions of the cardiac silhouette. This study aims to gather several studies of the cardiac dimensions by VHS method in the right lateral recumbency of of different breeds of dogs in a single work, facilitating the assess to information. Deep chest breeds have a smaller mean VHS value than the barrel chest breeds, showing that there is a variation of the VHS values acoording to the thoracic conformation of each breed, which indicates that there is a need to recognize the specific VHS values according to the breed standard to not to interpret the cardiac measurement in a wrong way through not compatible reference values for the animal. There is the individual variation that should be taken into accont at the time of measurement. The VHS is a helper method to a radiographic evaluation of the heart, and the ultrasonography remains the gold standard for the evaluation of the cardiac chambers and other changes of the heart

O “valor” da mensuração de resultados para as relações públicas estratégicas

This paper has as purpose the demonstration of the importance to measure the results of the communication acts for the strategic public relations, by the reflection and theoretical intakes. The term strategic is very in focus nowadays, in all the areas of expertise, and it presupposes the evaluation of results as an essential part of the planning. Because of that, in addition to the survey of the concepts and bibliographical studies area, it is present an analysis of the strategic public relations specifically on this process. And a case that completes the discussion about the organizations’ concern in relation to the quality of relationships established between them and their audiences, the predominant factor for the effectiveness of communication

Bases para criação de um Centro de Voluntariado na UNESP - Guaratinguetá

Volunteering is seen as a form of citizen participation enabling to involve, mobilize, engage and articulate people and institutions around issues of collective interest. Both for the volunteer and for the community involved, voluntary action can promote learning, new experiences and interaction with people previously unknown, as well as create opportunities for professional and personal growth. (CENTRO DE VOLUNTARIADO DE SÃO PAULO, 2012). This work starts from a survey conducted in 2006 by Carvalho, who detected the interest of members of the campus community Guaratinguetá UNESP in performing volunteer work. Its objective is to continue the work mentioned and think of ways to support volunteering in the Guaratinguetá Engineering College, mainly through the creation of connections between stakeholders (individuals and institutions). For this, focused Volunteer Centers and their functional models. Such a center could be the ideal facilitator of relationships between volunteer candidates that integrate FEG / UNESP community and institutions interested in the collaboration of these people. The work highlighted the benefits that voluntary action can bring to those involved in it, and the role that a Volunteer Center at UNESP Guaratinguetá may play, in the promotion and expansion of social activities already undertaken. The study also indicates the need for a validation of the proposals presented here and later detailing way of acting of the Centre in its institutional placement and maintenance costs
