Percepção da importância da participação de idosos em uma universidade aberta da terceira idade

Introduction: Aging is part of the natural human way. Aging is also synonymous with continuous gain experience. Aging, especially in our culture, unfortunately, can also be synonymous with exclusion, but not in relation to the UNATI Marília SP Open University of the Third Age, which has as main objective the integration through social interaction in academia, transforming experience and knowledge in quality of life in a constant learning. Objective: This article aims to report an investigation into the reasons attributed to the importance of an elderly attending the Open University of the Third Age in the vision of the elderly who attend. Material and Method: Bring a profile of the elderly by gender, age, marital status, education level, profession, financial aspects. The sample consisted of 52 elderly and the sampling method was convenience. Results: The results showed that the greater importance attached to participation was to gain more knowledge and be updated followed by meeting new people and making new friends, exercising the memory, healthy and interestingly filling free time and to improve quality of life. The participation of the elderly caused possibilities of making new friends, improvement in depression and motivation to acquire new knowledge. Conclusion: We conclude that the Open University of the Third Age can contribute to improvement of quality of life especially with regard to social interaction and cognitive aspect.

Tratamento da mordida aberta esquelética em adultos com a técnica Multiloop Edgewise Archwire

O tratamento da mordida aberta anterior em pacientes adultos apresenta muitas limitações. A terapia cirúrgica é a mais adequada para esses casos; no entanto, por razões psicológicas, alguns pacientes rejeitam essa forma de tratamento. Diante da necessidade de tratamento desses pacientes, esse artigo se propõe a apresentar um caso de mordida aberta anterior severa tratada com a técnica Multiloop Edgewise Archwire (MEAW). Ao final do tratamento foi atingida oclusão ideal, com função adequada e estética agradável, demonstrando que a técnica aplicada foi efetiva para a correção da mordida aberta anterior, sem cirurgia.

Melhor idade na rede: uma visão da inclusão digital do idoso : estudo do caso da Universidade Aberta à Terceira Idade da UNESP Bauru

In the information society, the use of Technologies has been incorporated to our quotidian. The use of personal computers and internet, however, does not reach to all the individuals, creating the problem of digital exclusion. Nowadays, many inclusion politics are being developed to diminish the digital abyss in society, in a way to enable a plural access to the internet. Between these initiatives, we highlight the projects of digital inclusion among the elderly, slice of the population that grows more each day and seek quality of life, social reinclusion and health. In this context, the open universities for the elderly bring to the aged courses and workshops, in order to encourage the activity in this age group. An example of this idea is the Unati of UNESP Bauru, that develops the project “Terceira Idade Digital”. Educação a distância: um estudo analítico das políticas governamentais com foco no projeto da Universidade Aberta do Brasil

The present study at the doctoral level, is in the initial phase of the Program Graduate School of Education UNESP, SP-Araraquara campus. That makes an analysis of government policies in distance education system through the Open University of Brazil (UAB). We present in this moment, the historical background of the creation and expansion of the system of the Open University of Brazil with emphasis on policies of expansion of higher education and also the degree in pedagogy courses offered by the partner universities of the University System in Brazil Open southeast. Among the main objectives of the study is to compare the Brazilian government policies of expansion of higher education with the management and characteristics of undergraduate courses in pedagogy. Partial results indicate a total 51 universities that offer degree courses in pedagogy at UAB system in Brazil, including 12 institutions in the Southeast.

Aparelho de Thurow modificado e aparelho ortodôntico fixo no tratamento da classe II com mordida aberta anterior

This work had aim to present two clinical cases with open bite Class II malocclusion that treated in the phase of the mixed dentition with the modified Thurow appliance and in the permanent dentition with fixed appliance. The dentoskeletal effects of these appliances were carefully analyzed with the aid of metallic implants inserted in both maxilla and mandible. The correction of the malocclusion and the improvement of the skeletal, dental and facial relationship were observed in both cases. The modified Thurow appliance followed by fixed-appliance as a two-phase treatment protocol revealed to be an effective treatment approach for the two young people that initially presented a Class II division 1 malocclusion associated to anterior open bite presented.

Trainer for Kids (T4K), um único aparelho para o tratamento de dois problemas verticais: mordida aberta anterior e mordida profunda

The Trainer for Kids is a prefabricated funcitonal appliance indicated for early treatment of the Class I malocclusion, crowding, anterior open bite, deep bite and oral habits (finger and/or sucking, atypic deglutition, tongue interposition and oral breathing). The aim of this paper is show two case reports treated with the T4K appliance being an anterior open bite and a deep bite.

Descrição do aparelho VABB (Vertically Activated Bite Block) para o tratamento da mordida aberta anterior

Nowadays, the correction of skeletal vertical dysplasia is considered a great challenge in Orthodontics. The skeletal open bite treatment presents limitations related to vertical growth pattern, the extension of open bite and especially the stability, which is very questioned. The treatment of skeletal open bite is mostly realized by the inhibition of vertical alveolar posterior development (relative intrusion) or absolute intrusion of posterior teeth, through vertical forces, generated by the action of masticatory muscles. The purpose of this article is to present a new appliance for the treatment of skeletal open bite, the VABB (Vertically Activated Bite Block) or modified Bite Block, whose action mechanism is to limit the vertical development of the molars, by the action of facial muscles and two bilateral expansion screws that provide a counterclockwise rotation of the mandible. It will also be presented a clinical case and the technical steps for the construction of this appliance.
