Frontonasal dysplasia: clinical evaluation on audiological and brainstem electrophysiological profiles

Frontonasal dysplasia (FND) is a rare malformative complex affecting the frontal portion of the face, the eyes and the nose; it may occur singly or associated with other clinical signs. No systematic studies describing hearing in this condition were found. AIM: To evaluate hearing sensitivity and sound stimulus conduction from cochlea to brainstem in patients with clinical signs of FND. METHODS: 21 patients with isolated or syndromic FND were submitted to a clinical (otological/vestibular antecedents and otoscopy) and instrumental (pure tone and speech audiometry, tympanometry and brainstem auditory evoked response) hearing evaluation. DESIGN: A clinical, cross-sectional observational prospective study. RESULTS: Hearing thresholds were normal in 15 (70%) patients, abnormal in 5 (25%), mostly with conductive hearing loss; one patient did not cooperate with testing. The tympanometric curve was type A in 30 (72%) ears, type C in 5 (12%), type As in 4 (9%) and type B in 3 (7%). The auditory brainstem response (ABR) showed no abnormalities. CONCLUSION: Patients with FND showed no abnormalities in the auditory system from cochlea to brainstem in this study. Mild conductive hearing loss found in some is probably related to cleft palate. Further evaluation of hearing pathways at higher levels is recommended.

Levantamento e censo de primatas em fragmentos florestais de mata atlântica na região de Sousas e Joaquim Egídio, Campinas, SP

A Mata Atlântica, um dos biomas mais ameaçados do mundo, possui alta biodiversidade e endemismos, restando apenas 7% de sua área original, e por isso considerada um hotspot. O município de Campinas está incluído no domínio vegetal de Mata Atlântica com transição para Cerrado, onde restam menos de 3% de floresta estacional semidecidual. A fragmentação de áreas naturais, a caça ilegal e a introdução de espécies exóticas são as principais causas de extinção de espécies. Neste estudo buscou-se identificar a riqueza e a densidade populacional de primatas em dez fragmentos de mata na região da Área de Proteção Ambiental de Sousas e Joaquim Egídio, área de ocorrência do sagüi-do-tufo-preto (Callithrix penicilatta), do macaco-prego (Cebus nigritus) e dos ameaçados, segundo a IUCN (2007), sagüi-da-serra-escuro (Callithrix aurita), sauá (Callicebus nigrifrons) e bugio-ruivo (Alouatta guariba clamitans). Os fragmentos variam entre dois e 24ha com formatos variados e de diferentes composições de capoeiras e matas secundárias, numa matriz agrícola, composta de pastagens, silvicultura e culturas perenes e anuais. O levantamento foi feito entre maio de 2007 e outubro de 2008 através de contagens absolutas dos grupos, diferenciados pelo local dos reavistamentos, composição sexual e etária. Cada avistamento foi georreferenciado com um GPS Garmin Camo Etrex®. Por serem territoriais, sauás foram atraídos através do uso de playbacks. A comunidade de primatas da Mata Ribeirão Cachoeira (245ha), maior remanescente local, é composta por cinco espécies. Sagüi-detufo- preto e bugio foram avistados em seis fragmentos e sauás em dois. Em cinco, foram observados grupos de Callithrix jacchus (sagüi-comum), exóticos na região. Em três fragmentos foram encontrados grupos mistos ou híbridos de Callithrix jacchus e C. penicillata. A arqueogenealogia como ferramenta de pesquisa no campo da atenção psicossocial

The aim of this paper is present the archeogenealogy perspective, inspired on Michel Foucault’s theoretical-philosophical proposal, as a research tool for social psychology, more speciically for the ield of Psychosocial Attention. For that, we carry out a theoretical-conceptual problematization about the main concepts that sustain this research perspective, namely: history, power, knowledge and truth. We also present some possible articulations with the Psychosocial Attention proposals. Thus, we aimed, to strengthen the epistemological research with an important tool for the problematization of absolute truths, the hegemonic discourses, the stigma and bias that compose the social imaginary on the mental health ield and of psychological suffering.

Os efeitos da matriz bioparental nos processos de adoção de crianças e adolescentes

This paper is the result of a homonymous scientific research, funded by CNPq-PIBIC where we understand the adoption process as a process of dissidence in relation to the bio-parental matrix. Founded on a heteronormative naturalization of human sexuality - which presupposes a continuum and naturalized organization among sex / gender / desire – this bioparental matrix sets the binary relation of distinction between the legitimate/illegitimate child as their origin or not arising from “blood ties”. Considering our experience in the Project developed at the Department of Clinical Psychology at UNESP, Assis, SP called “Ties of love: Adoption, Gender, Citizenship and Rights”, we prepared a content analysis - as proposed by Bardin (1977) -, of transcripts of psychological sessions that were made from 2005 to 2012 in the "Center for Research and Applied Psychology “Dra. Betti Katzenstein. Our general objective was to analyze the effects of the bioparental matrix and its impact on children/adolescents and their families as well as estimate the possibilities of escape to the subjection to this bioparental matrix. The results showed us several aspects that may be significant for understanding the discursive crossings related to the practice of adoption. It was observed that there is still a great ambivalence pervading this theme, revealing that there is a discrepancy between what we say and what we do in relation to practices of caring among the adopted children. On the one hand, it was noticed that relatives rationally seek to enhance the bonding of the “emotional ties”, but their practices and beliefs, are still supported in modes of subjectivation that prioritize the biological discourse. This fact reveals a strained and conflictive field that probably weaknesses those families seeking to prioritize the ties of affection. However, as can be seen in this study, it is comforting and motivating to realize the power of resistance of individuals to absolute truths that govern their ways of feeling, affiliating and/ or exert their parenting.
