This article discusses the recent historical contingencies that placed the universitary left on the defensive and, simultaneously, the attempts of approach of some researchers-extensionists with social movements. To put in historical perspective the discussion of the relation between universities and social movements in historical perspective, we rescued the Córdoba reform (argentine university reform of 1918), the teachings of Latin American classic authors, and we produced an overview about the Reform and the long cycle of educational counter-reform in Latin America. Regarding the relation between universities and social movements, we focus on the analysis of experiences in the fields of popular habitation, agroecology and recovered factories, once we believe that these experiences bring advances in self-management, decommodification, intellectual-social movements, etc. However, these are by no means free of contradictions.

This paper reports on the trajectory of knowledge in educational administration, as published by the Brazilian National Association of Educational Policy and Administration (ANPAE). It reviews four early booklets on school administration – Cadernos de Administração Escolar – published between 1961 and 1968, and selected issues of ANPAE´s journal – Revista Brasileira de Política e Administração da Educação – published between 1983 and 2000, under different categories, and analyses those classified under the concepts of administration and management. The author refers to conceptual limitations, but concedes that the publications present relevant contributions on the theoretical development of educational administration in Brazil.

This article examines aspects of policies for higher education during the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship (1964-1985) and some of its legacies that persist in the decades of 1990 and 2000. The text was divided into two parts: the first one analyses the "university reform" of 1968 and its historical context; the second discusses how some features configure certain trend in policies for higher education, with traces maintained until today. Finally, this amazing continuity is evaluated through four axes of analysis – 1) Fragmentation of education and different access to the levels and stages of teaching; 2) Deformation of the inseparability of teaching, research and extension; 3) Privatization as official policy for higher education; 4) Authoritarianism and systematic repression in institutions of higher education – and it is supported the need to resist and be opposed to the dominant project of policy for higher education in Brazil.

It was observed the metacognitive trajectory of three users from a public university library the state of Sao Paulo to identify the metacognitive strategies that were used during the process of searching for information in a online collective catalog. Its configuration was based on participants' oral reports obtained by the technique of individual verbal protocol to provide an actual configuration of the task ans a closer examination of its natural recovery of information systems. The data collection sessions were recorded, and the recorded data were transcribed and categorized into four units of analyses: 1- expertise, 2-regulation, 3-assessment of knowledge itself and 4- organization of cognitive process. The results showed that knowledge of meta-cognitive strategies affects the quality of the results obtained in the process of searching for information and interferes in the way it implements retrieval on-line catalog, a fact the emphasizes the need for studies to move forward on issues meta-cognition of users of information.

This work has as objective understand the role of chief public relations professional in the design of strategies for an organization considering the theories of semiotics, particularly the concepts of Firstness, secondness and Thirdness defended and presented by Charles Sanders Peirce, and business administration. We will give attention to the process that the public relations of an organization sets the detection of a problem / opportunity until the moment that takes science for all individuals and is resolved / utilized in an organization. Then to better illustrate the concepts presented, it has been a case study of the performance of a public relations professional in an organization, and its importance in her career

A extensão é compreendida como uma interação entre a Universidade e a comunidade na qual está inserida e como uma via de mão dupla onde a Universidade leva conhecimentos e/ou assistência à comunidade e recebe dela influxos positivos e reais necessidades, ou seja, constitui-se uma relação de troca de conhecimentos. As atividades de extensão desenvolvidas no Instituto de Biociências (IB) da UNESP - Campus Botucatu, por meio de projetos, são diversificadas quanto ao público alvo, quanto ao local de realização e também quanto aos objetivos. Ao longo dos anos, foram realizadas inúmeras atividades de extensão dirigidas aos professores e alunos das escolas de ensino básico, das quais destacamos os projetos de extensão relacionados ao ensino de Ciências e Biologia. Este estudo teve por objetivos identificar as atividades de extensão, desenvolvidas por docentes do IB, voltadas ao ensino básico, e investigar a percepção dos docentes sobre a articulação entre Universidade e escolas de ensino infantil, fundamental e médio. Os dados foram coletados por meio de análise de documentos, questionário e entrevista. Pela análise de documentos, foram identificados os projetos de extensão relacionados ao ensino de Ciências e Biologia e que possuem relação (direta ou indireta) com escolas do ensino básico desenvolvidos pelo IB nos anos 2006, 2007 e 2008, cadastrados na PROEX, vinculados ao Núcleo de Ensino, ao Programa Ciência Na UNESP e ao NADi - Museu Escola. Por meio do questionário, com questões abertas e fechadas, foram coletados dados junto a 15 professores coordenadores e pela entrevista foram coletados dados junto ao Presidente da Comissão Permanente de Extensão Universitária. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic and relapsing disease caused by exaggerated response of the immune system. It represents a significant health problem by limiting the quality of life and being the main risk factor for colorectal cancer. Despite of its importance, the high worldwide incidence and being the object of research for several decades, the etiology remains unknown. Studies indicates an interaction between genetic and environmental factors which together with the intestinal microbiota, leads to an uncontrolled immune response. One of the aggravating environmental factors often discussed is stress, as the daily life of the population in general is increasingly rushed. In order to demonstrate the influence of stress on IBD, this study aimed to standardize an experimental model of colitis induced by instillation of a trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS) noninflammatory concentration plus exposure to stress that intensify the inflammation. Therefore, an experiment was done to determine what would be the noninflammatory concentration. In this step, four different concentrations of TNBS (1, 6, 12.5 or 40mg/ml) were tested and the lowest concentration capable of inducing a noninflammatory response in the gut was defined as 1 mg/ml. Then, a second experiment was performed which induced colitis and exposed the animals to restraint stress. The results, however, showed that this stimulus was not enough to exacerbate the damage caused by the 1 mg/ml concentration of TNBS in the colon. With some changes in the protocol, the third experiment associated cold and restraint, as well as changes on the day of euthanasia, which occurred immediately after the stress session. The results of myeloperoxidase activity measurement were unexpected due to the noninflammatory concentration of TNBS caused an intestinal inflammation similar to the concentration of 40 mg/ml. Haloperidol is a dopamine receptor antagonist used to treat schizophrenia. When systemically administered in rodents, haloperidol induces catalepsy, a state of immobility very similar to that seen in Parkinson's disease. It is known that many of Parkinson's disease symptoms are dependent on the emotional state since patients are still able to respond to external triggers such as loud noise or visual signaling. Recent data highlighted the importance of glutamatergic neurotransmission in the inferior colliculus (IC) on the cataleptic state induced by haloperidol in rats. Given the importance of IC in the brain aversion system and its connections to motor pathways, and based on the clinical reports of the emotional influence on the motor aspect of Parkinson's disease, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the emotional aspect related to catalepsy induced by intraperitoneal administration of haloperidol. To this end, we analysed ultrasonic vocalizations (UVs) of 22 kHz (indicative of aversion) in rats during the tests of catalepsy, open field and contextual conditioned fear. Systemic administration of haloperidol affected the motor activity, inducing catalepsy and decreasing exploratory activity in the open field. There were no UVs of 22 kHz resulting from treatment with haloperidol in catalepsy or open field tests. In the contextual conditioned fear test, haloperidol increased freezing when administered before the test, but decreased freezing on test day when administered before training. In this same test, haloperidol decreased the UVs on the day it was administered (training or test). The catalepsy induced by systemic administration of haloperidol seems to have also affected the motor aspect of UVs. In this way, it was not possible to clarify the existence of an aversive emotional state associated haloperidol induced catalepsy

A Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Adquirida (AIDS) é uma doença causada pelo vírus da imunodeficiência humana (HIV) e acomete milhões de indivíduos pelo mundo todo. Para seu tratamento, utilizam-se antirretrovirais em associação ou isoladamente, e um dos mais utilizados é a zidovudina, 3’-azido-3’-desoxitimidina (AZT). Porém, sua baixa biodisponibilidade causada pela elevada taxa de metabolização hepática e baixa capacidade de permeação através das membranas biológicas, resulta na necessidade de administração de elevadas doses do fármaco, várias vezes ao dia, o que acaba gerando níveis plasmáticos tóxicos e, consequentemente, efeitos colaterais graves e desconforto ao paciente. Sendo assim existe a necessidade de uma otimização das formulações orais contendo AZT. Os sistemas de liberação de fármacos com propriedades mucoadesivas podem ser uma alternativa para melhorar as propriedades biofarmacêuticas, pois permitem o contato íntimo do fármaco com a mucosa intestinal e por um tempo prolongado, o que pode melhorar a biodisponibilidade de determinados fármacos, como o AZT. As dispersões sólidas (DS) são um tipo de sistema de liberação de fármaco que visam melhorar a biodisponibilidade de fármacos com baixa biodisponibilidade. Para desenvolvimento destes sistemas, vários materiais poliméricos podem ser utilizados, dentre eles o ftalato de hidroxipropil metilcelulose (HPMCP), com propriedade gastrorresistentes e mucoadesiva e o glicolato sódico de amido (GSA), que é um polímero intumescível e mucoadesivo. No desenvolvimento do trabalho as dispersões foram preparadas a partir da técnica de evaporação do solvente, contendo AZT, GSA e HPMCP nas proporções 1:5:7,5, 1:5:10 e 1:5:15, respectivamente, sendo obtidas com êxito a partir da técnica escolhida. A análise granulométrica e as fotomicrografias das amostras demonstraram uma redução no tamanho das partículas. A análise da mucoadesão ...
