Determination of salicylate in blood serum using an amperometric biosensor based on salicylate hydroxylase immobilized in a polypyrrole-glutaraldehyde matrix

The use of an amperometric biosensor for the salicylate determination in blood serum is described. The biosensor is based on salicylate hydroxylase (EC 1.14.13.1) electropolymerized onto a glassy carbon-working electrode with polypyrrole and glutaraldehyde, to improve the biosensor lifetime. The hexacyanoferrate (II) was also incorporated to work as a redox mediator to minimize possible interferences. The salicylate is enzymatically converted to catechol, which is monitored amperometrically by its electrooxidation at +0.170 V versus SCE (saturated calomel electrode). Salicylate determination was carried out maintaining the ratio between β-NADH and salicylate at 4:1 (30°C). The amperometric response of the biosensor was linearly proportional to the salicylate concentration between 2.3 x 10-6 and 1.4 x 10-5 mol l- 1, in 0.1 mol l-1 phosphate buffer (pH 7.8), containing 0.1 mol l-1 KCl and 5.0 x 10-4 mol l-1 Na2H2EDTA, as supporting electrolyte. The recovery studies, in the presence of several interfering compounds, showed recoveries between 96.4 and 104.8%. The useful lifetime of the biosensor in the concentration range evaluated was at least 40 days, in continuous use. Blood serum samples analyzed by this biosensor showed a good correlation compared to the spectrophotometric method (Trinder) used as reference, presenting relative deviations lower than 7.0%. Multiculturalismo, diversidade cultural e cotidiano escolar: uma análise da temática em filmes de escola

This work has as its theme the multiculturalism, cultural diversity and their reflections in school everyday, more specifically on the interactions between the various subjects and social groups that make up a school and the teacher as mediator of the relationship between these guys. The theme Multiculturalism refers in the first instance, to the theoretical movement beginning in the mid-20th century in the United States and that spreads in the Western world as a way of tackling the conflicts generated depending on the economic issues, policies, and, in particular, cultural-ethnic, in an attempt to combat discrimination and prejudice, given the difficulties of individuals and groups to welcome and socialize with the plurality and cultural differences (SILVA; BRANDIM, 2008).At the same time, multiculturalism refers to cultural studies, through the Centre for Contemporary cultural studies, founded by em1964 Hoggart, and connected to the English language Department of the University of Birmingham in England.In contemporary times, due to the phenomenon of globalization and public policy to challenge prejudice and discrimination the subjects and social groups, regardless of color, creed, ethnicity, sexual orientation and nationality, this theme has been recurring in order to recognize plural identities and ensure and directly affects the school as a place of cultural diversity and conflicts generated by the very diversity.The present work aims to analyze and understand how the issue of multiculturalism and cultural diversity in school films. Our study will be based theoretically in Cultural Studies authors and uses the qualitative approach, working with movie content analysis of school, seeking to seize on the same relations of coexistence, conflicts and the mediations of teachers

Intersecção de arte e design: a mediação pela artesania

The language in the contemporaneous, for treating from essential factor to the communication and artistic expression, mainly starting from the intense expansion of the industrial techniques, it’s makes way for a considerable reflection: the stylistic relationship among the industrial object, the craft and the properly artistic work (DORFLES, 1988). The aesthetics, as inherent factor and mediator the all these subjects, is capable to establish similarities between the design concept and the contemporary art. Starting from this panorama an interpretative analysis is delineated on the function aesthetics/poetics (JAKOBSON, R. 1995; MUKAROVSKY, J. 1993) in the language of the design, under the optical of the contemporary thought in order to provide a contribution of updating of the present delimitation context between the art and the design in the extent of the aesthetics.

The visual identity is based on a semantic relationship of several signs that make up a coherent system. A bimédia language formed by text and image complement to create an understandable message. This study aims the use of non-verbal communication in the corporate visual identity design project, contextualizing the role of the designer as mediator for informational corporate message to their audiences.

Função estética dos signos artísticos para promover processos discursivos em sala de aula

The study investigated the use of an artistic work as mediator to trigger and sustain discursive participation of high school students in the classroom. Since the discursive dimension is an essential factor in constructivist teaching orientation, the general idea behind the work seeks to make use of the aesthetic function of signs to enhance the participation of learners discourse. With this goal in mind, the artistic sign painting Water Fall of the artist Maurits Cornelis Escher is employed for teaching physics concept of conservation of mechanical energy. The study compares two methods of a teacher who tries to promote students interactivity discursive. One methodology is guided only by formulating questions and other uses also an artistic sign along with the questions. The work shows that the teacher gets more successfully discursive participation of their students using the second methodology.

This paper presents an educational proposal to use an educational software for the teaching of mathematics, following in the conduct of activities, the main aspects of sociocultural theory of Vygotsky. For this, it chose the Poly educational software, with which were developed teaching and learning activities for the polyhedra content provided in the São Paulo State Mathematics curriculum for the 7th year of elementary school.
