Utilização de técnicas de geoprocessamento para monitoramento de atividades de mineração ao longo de dutos: poliduto Rio de Janeiro/Minas Gerais

The transportation of oil through polyducts implies a concern related to safety and environmental impacts they may cause, especially when exposed to risks that affect their integrity. Among the various anthropogenic activities included in this scenario, mining can aggravate, increase the risks and degrade the environment. Since these polyducts go through significant extensions, remote sensing has great applicability as a tool for data acquisition. For this, change detection techniques were used to monitor mining activities in a defined study area in the state of Rio de Janeiro, along the duct ORBEL. The characterization of the study area and the mining activities were developed through bibliographical data. The satellite images processing and the application of change detection technique were performed in two scenes for the years 2002 and 2010. The growth in the mining area was about 6.67 times and it was possible to identify types of extraction involved which can represent direct risks to the pipeline

One tthird of the world population is infected with Toxoplasma gondii, in most cases, asymptomatic. There are records of infection in birds and mammals, including the dog. Systemic clinical signs of canine toxoplasmosis are variable, however, the animals may manifest ocular signs: anterior mononuclear uveitis, retinitis, choroiditis, extraocular myositis, scleritis and optic neuritis. This article aims at reflecting on organization of pedagogical work in multigrade classes in order to contribute to facing core problems in countryside education and public school in general. We place historically and question school grading and then discuss teaching planning (horizontally and vertically); students' grouping (establishing the difference between group and grouping) and the necessary grouping for promoting learning. We seek to provide elements that evoke analyses of graded classroom standardization. We point out that in both multigrade and graded classes there are possibilities and limits for pedagogical practice. In this regard, we invite teachers to operate towards overcoming these limits by optimizing the concrete possibilities they find, mainly those regarding multigrade classes, which are the focus of our attention in this article.

Considerações gerais sobre prótese fixa adesiva

The success rate of resin-bonded fixed partial dentures is directly related to the adhesive system and the tooth preparation design for good retention. These resin-bonded bridges represent a prosthodontic alternative, based on their costeffectiveness, conservative techniques, and ease of laboratory manufacturing. Through a thorough review of the literature, this study aimed to report on cavity designs, types of materials used, and the advantages and disadvantages of the resin-bonded fixed partial denture. One of significant advantages of the resin-bonded fixed partial dentures is the conservation of the tooth structure, whereas its main disadvantage includes aesthetic limitations, given that the alloy may in fact be visible. Preparation design, cement type, and casting alloy type, as well as surface treatment, are among the factors that influence the longevity of resin-bonded fixed partial dentures. Treatments with resin-bonded fixed partial dentures present a bright outlook regarding the conservation of tooth structures, as well as a high level of success.

Diagnóstico radiográfico diferencial das reabsorções radiculares internas e externas entre especialistas em endodontia e clínicos gerais

Objectives: The objective of this study was to evaluate the ability of endodontists and general practioners to perform the differential radiographic diagnosis between internal and external root resorptions, using digitized periapical radiographs. Methods: Thirty periapical radiographic images of external and internal resorption were selected. The evaluators were comprised of 15 endodontists and 29 general practitioners who answered a questionnaire with the following question: “What type of resorption in the following radiographics do you diagnose?” (1) Inflammatory external root resorption. (2) Internal root resorption. Statistical analysis was performed based on the Mann-Whitney test, with significance level of 5%. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the percentage of correct answers from specialists in endodontics and general practitioners. Conclusions: Both groups demonstrated satisfactory skill in the radiographic interpretation of internal and external resorption and there was a higher percentage of correct diagnosis of internal resorption than the external.
