The "Observatrio de Inovao Social do Turismo" was created due to the need of studies and researches related to tourism and its social impacts. The Escola Brasileira de Administrao Pblica e de Empresas, of Fundao Getulio Vargas, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and the Childhood Brazil, started in 2007, studies about the sexual exploration of children and adolescents. The present work has the objective to analyze, based on the results of the "Observatrio de Inovao Social do Turismo", its contributions to the prevention and repression of sexual exploration of children and adolescents associated to the tourism.

This is a master's degree dissertation that has for main objective analyzes the relationship among the areas of the knowledge, tourism and administration, under the optics of contributions in different instances, establishing analogies and reflections, tends as empiric field, the case of the municipal district of So Lus, in Maranho State. It approaches the epistemology analysis of the tourist phenomenon discussing the employed speeches, faiths, myths, dependence, virtues and sins in the interpretation of the study. It points subjects related to the context of higher education in tourism, establishing connections with the management in a theoretical atmosphere, demonstrating the roads of evolution of the study, as well as, it permeates on analogies and reflections with tourism. It questions on the current scenery of degree courses in tourism, making connections with beginnings management studies. The proposed study, characterized as descriptive-explanatory of object, it bases on model Tourism Education Quality (TEDQUAL) near from objectives, to involve researches - documental and a field - accomplished in the years of 2005 and 2006. As sample for quotas, accomplished four universities, to presents results the expectations of analyzed subjects (students, profesionals, employers and educators) on the group of hypotheses. That spectrum of results makes possible reflections and proposed based in analysis on perspectives in superior tourism education. The research was limited the studied area and chosen sample it intends to be a tool to show the reality found in those courses, could address academic researches and practical actions developed by the education managers.

This work focuses on the implications of technological-organizational competences for improvement of performance indicators. This relationship is examined during 1984 to 2005 in three small companies that operate in Rio de Janeiro within adventure tourism, more specifically, within tandem flights on hang-gliding. Based on a comparative case study grounded in both qualitative and quantitative empirical evidences collected in a detailed field search, this study is supported by an existing metric available in literature and adapted to adventure tourism segment. The metric to measure competences is based on four techno-organizational function: (i) product; (ii) sales & marketing; (iii) infra-structure & operational process; (iv) managing systems. The examination of performance improvement is based on a set of typical indicators used by this segment to evaluate results. This dissertation contributes to deepening the understanding of how techno-organizational competences affect the competitive performance of companies in this sector of adventure tourism.

This study shows how the Industrial Cluster of garments in Valena, RJ comprised of micro and small enterprises contributes to overcome the problems left by the declining period of the textile industry. At first, the city took advantage of its talent for textile work and turned to the clothing sector, which now relies on garment factories, subcontractors, cooperatives and laundries in order to create jobs. There is institutional support, but the analysis of the situation identified the need for higher involvement of cluster players, as well as a higher interaction among them to help their own development. In regard to public and private institutions, there is room for steps to guide informal companies that find it difficult to afford labor, financial, and environmental costs towards formalization, the offer of management and labor skill programs, as well as entrepreneurs awareness about the acquisition of modern-technology machinery. It is important to encourage higher participation of Valena firms in the national fashion events, since this draws attention to the name of the city, discloses the work that is carried out there, and attracts new businesses. The entry of Valena companies in the fashion arena of the southern region of Rio de Janeiro state is beneficial, especially to make them better prepared for the Fashion Rio/Fashion Business event. Informality as a way out of the unemployment problem is a growing trend in Valena, as well as in most of Brazilian cities. In this sense, the entrepreneurs need to find favorable steps to make them feel motivated to formalize their businesses.

This dissertation has as objective builds institutional sceneries capable to describe possible future paths they be traveled it by the Centrais Eltricas Brasileiras S.A. - Eletrobrs. Guided for the field of the managerial strategies, the author adopted the PROSPEX method, by Eduardo Marques (2003), and the obtained results pointed three main sceneries: spotlight, light and lamp. To these sceneries, the theory of the strategic business area (SBA) was applied, what allowed to detect new businesses for Eletrobrs.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo verificar a existncia de relao entre o conhecimento de tcnicas de projeto e a efetividade do processo de mudana para uma atuao com maior responsabilidade ambiental. Trata-se de um estudo de caso sobre a Petrobras, mais especificamente sobre a Unidade de Negócios Bacia de Campos, onde foram efetuadas pesquisas de campo por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas e de questionrios distribudos a profissionais alocados na rea de Segurana, Meio-ambiente e Sade nos ativos desta unidade. Os dados resultantes das pesquisas foram tratados quali-quantitativamente, identificando-se que na percepo destes profissionais indica uma correlao significativa entre o nvel de maturidade na utilizao de tcnicas de projeto e o nvel de responsabilidade ambiental da organizao.

Tourism as an example of alternative for sustainable development in the Lenis Maranhenses. The objective of this work is to analyze the prospects for sustainable development in tourism in the aforementioned region. An attempt is made to evaluate the five dimensions of sustainable - ecological, economic, social, space and cultural. The base for discussion is the information gathered from the people who actually live in the region. A type of the case study was built up. The research involved speaking with the people about the viability of tourism projects, not only with an eye on economic success, job creation and income for the region. There was also an attempt to tackle the issue of social and environment impact. Data was collected through verbal contact. A variety of people were interviewed, locals, businessmen, authorities, civil representatives and they spoke about the advantages and disadvantages of tourism as the saw it and as it affected them. Their answers and comments constitute the knowledge gleaned. The development of possible new strategies is the result of this work. Strategies that should be investigated by the local government/public administration. One such strategy would involve strengthening ties whit society and hoping that the improved dialogue would encourage sustainability. Another would mean improving interdepartmental contact to streamline the performance of public bodies so that development can be better planned and non-destructive.

This study evaluates how the interaction among organizations located in Vila do Abrao, in Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro State, has contributed to the sustainability of this locality. An analysis of the islands local problems showed that firms informality and solid waste management practices were bringing damaging consequences to the island, and that this local productive arrangement (APL) has been able to collectively find solutions to such issues. These solutions basically encompassed: a) choosing estrategies the lead to a self-sustained model and not traditional way dependent on tax benefits; b) recognizing that the solutions to these problems involved the common action of public and private sectors and the civil society, and that various artifices should be used to establish such cooperation; c) the presence of actors outside the APL who played an important role in overcoming the problems of the cluster; d) using transparent legal instruments that defined the rights and obligations of each party and e) tripartite social entrepreneurship actions through NGOs to help solve problems common to the whole island.

This present work has the objective to analyze the perspective of the sustainable development from the promotion of the tourism in Vila do Abrao, Ilha Grande. For this, was available the five dimensions of sustainable ecological, economic, social, space and cultural from the own words of the actors involved with the reality of the studied place. The research was applied as a study of case and had as objective to discuss the tourists projects from Vila do Abrao, considered the viability of its sustainable. The discussion wasnt restricted to the economical aspects, but also the social-cultural and environment implications caused by tourism. The dialect method was used. Natives, residents, businesspeople, tourist, authorities, association representatives and others, were interviewed. They were questioned about negative and positive aspects from the local tourism, getting the chance to opinion. The segmented arguments of these actors made the base for new knowledge. This present dissertation arrived at some significant conclusions to the problems that represent barriers to the sustainable mentioned above. In conclusion, were set problems related to government body, whose political interest and insufficient recourses compromise the performance.

o surgimento dos telefones celulares foi uma grande revoluo nas telecomunicaes, pois as pessoas poderiam se comunicar de qualquer lugar, mesmo em movimento. No entanto, a grande demanda obrigou a criao de novos sistemas digitais de telefonia, com mais qualidade nas ligaes, capacidade de transmisso de voz, dentre outros. Posteriormente, surgiu uma demanda que no queria apenas mais qualidade, mas tambm a disponibilizao de servios disponveis a partir do celular. Isto originou o uso da tecnologia WAP. Focalizando o estudo no mercado brasileiro, a tecnologia WAP foi anunciada como a responsvel por trazer a Internet utilizada nos computadores convencionais diretamente para o celular. Entretanto, diversos problemas relativos ao uso e custo desta tecnologia indicaram claras desvantagens da Internet no celular em comparao com a Internet convencional. Isto tomou a tecnologia W AP um fracasso de crtica no Brasil. Esta dissertao busca comprovar o fracasso da la verso da tecnologia W AP - W AP 1.0 - e a participao dos modelos de negócios utilizados na derrocada desta tecnologia no mercado brasileiro de telefonia celular.

O objetivo central desse artigo o de propor e avaliar modelos economtricos de previso para o PIB industrial brasileiro. Para tanto, foram utilizados diversos modelos de previso como tambm combinaes de modelos. Foi realizada uma analise criteriosa das sries a serem utilizadas na previso. Ns conclumos que a utilizao de vetores de cointegrao melhora substancialmente a performance da previso. Alm disso, os modelos de combinao de previso, na maioria dos casos, tiveram uma performance superior aos demais modelos, que j apresentavam boa capacidade preditiva.

Trata-se de um estudo exploratrio/explanatrio que visa avaliar a convergncia entre a percepo de atratividade do mercado hoteleiro brasileiro e o posicionamento estratgico para negócios das grandes cadeias multinacionais de hotis na avaliao de seus altos dirigentes. A pesquisa est inserida no contexto das estratgias de negócios internacionais e da expanso global hoteleira, tendo o Brasil como alvo.

O principal propsito deste trabalho propor e conceituar as seguintes dimenses competitivas da estratgia de recursos humanos sob a tica contempornea dos conceitos de estratgia competitiva e de estratgia de manufatura: a constituio de rede de trabalho baseada em equipes, a aprendizagem organizacional e a gesto da cultura organizacional. No contexto da gesto estratgica de negócios, prope-se que estas dimenses competitivas sejam estabelecidas juntamente com as estratgias das unidades de negócios e das prioridades competitivas da estratgia de manufatura, ou seja, qualidade, desempenho das entregas, flexibilidade e custo. Em estudo de casos, envolvendo quatro empresas manufatureiras do setor metal mecnico do interior do estado de So Paulo, identificam-se as dimenses competitivas das estratgias de recursos humanos e as prioridades competitivas das estratgias de manufatura, assim como sua combinao dentro das estratgias das unidades de negócios das empresas pesquisadas, com o objetivo de analisar a aplicabilidade das duas proposies tericas deste trabalho: as dimenses competitividade da estratgia de recursos humanos e a sua combinao com as prioridades competitivas da estratgia de manufatura no contexto das estratgias de negócios.

Apesar de toda discusso sobre a crise na instituio famlia em funo das amplas mudanas ocorridas na sociedade contempornea, tais como o aumento dos domiclios unipessoais, das famlias chefiadas por mulheres, da mdia de idade ao se casar, de casais que convivem no mesmo domiclio sem necessariamente estarem casados, da participao da mulher no mercado de trabalho e do crescente poder de compra dos domiclios, o conceito famlia vem se flexibilizando para refletir as transies da rgida estrutura familiar nuclear para novos modelos familiares e os estilos de vida associados a eles. O desafio passa a ser um olhar minucioso para as necessidades especficas desta diversidade de arranjos familiares para uma melhor compreenso dos seus desejos e motivaes, bem como as mudanas no decorrer dos vrios estgios do ciclo de vida. O presente estudo apresenta o construto ciclo de vida familiar como uma importante ferramenta de segmentao, a partir da definio de padres de consumo de acordo com os principais eventos da vida do individuo e da famlia. Este trabalho traz uma reviso dos principais modelos de ciclo de vida para posteriormente apresentar e validar um modelo especfico para o ambiente brasileiro a partir dos microdados de uma pesquisa feita pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatstica em 2002 e 2003. Umas das grandes contribuies deste trabalho o esforo em desenvolver uma teoria de Marketing, em especial na rea de segmentao de mercados, adaptada realidade brasileira, ao invs de simplesmente copiar modelos desenvolvidos em outros pases
