A 0.79C-1.5Si-1.98Mn-0.98Cr-0.24Mo-1.06Al-1.58Co (wt%) steel was isothermally heat treated at 200°C for 10 days to form a nano-scale bainitic microstructure consisting of nanobainitic ferrite laths with high dislocation density and retained austenite films. The crystallographic analysis using TEM and EBSD revealed that the bainitic ferrite laths are close to the Nishiyama-Wassermann orientation relationship with the parent austenite. There was only one type of packet identified in a given transformed austenite grain. Each packet consisted of two different blocks having variants with the same habit plane, but different crystallographic orientations. The presence of fine C-rich clusters and Fe-C carbides with a wide range of compositions in bainitic ferrite was revealed by Three-dimensional Atom Probe Tomography (APT). The high carbon content of bainitic ferrite compared to the para-equilibrium level of carbon in ferrite, absence of segregation of carbon to the austenite/bainitic ferrite interface and absence of partitioning of substitutional elements between the retained austenite and bainitic ferrite were also found using APT.

This paper summarizes some of our recent results on crystal structure, microstructure, orientation relationship between martensitic variants and crystallographic features of martensitic transformation in Ni-Mn-Ga FSMAs. It was shown that Ni53Mn25Ga22 has a tetragonal I4/mmm martensitic structure at room temperature. The neighboring martensitic variants in Ni53Mn25Ga22 have a compound twinning relationship with the twinning elements K1={112}, K2={11-2}, η1=<11-1>, η2=<111>, P={1-10} and s=0.379. The ratio of the relative amounts of twins within the same initial austenite grain is ~1.70. The main orientation relationship between austenite and martensite is Kurdjumov-Sachs (K-S) relationship. Based on the crystallographic phenomenological theory, the calculated habit plane is {0.690 -0.102 0.716}A (5.95° from {101}A), and the magnitude, direction and shear angle of the macroscopic transformation shear are 0.121, <-0.709 0.105 0.698>A (6.04° from <-101>A) and 6.88°, respectively.

This was explained due to the long heat treatment time, which led to the formation of fine Fe-C clusters on areas with high dislocation densities in bainitic ferrite laths.

The resolved shear stress is believed to play an important role in twin formation. The present study tests this idea for an extruded magnesium alloy by examining "tension" twinning in different grain orientations. Electron backscatter diffraction analysis is employed for alloy AZ31 tested in compression along the extrusion axis to strains between 0.008 and 0.015. For heavily twinned grains, it is seen that twinning occurs on 2.3 twin systems per grain on average. The active systems are also most commonly those with, or very near to, the highest Schmid factor. The most active system in multiply twinned grains accounts on average for ∼0.6 of the twinning events. In addition, it is found that the twin habit plane falls within 6° of the K1 plane. Orientations with the highest Schmid factors (0.45-0.5) for twinning display twin aspect ratios greater by ∼40% and twin number densities greater by ∼10 times than orientations with maximum Schmid factors for twinning of 0.15-0.2. Thus the Schmid factor for twinning is seen to affect nucleation more than thickening in the present material. Viscoplastic crystal plasticity simulations are employed to obtain approximations for the resolved shear stress. Both the twin aspect ratio and number density correlate quite well with this term. The effect of the former can be assumed to be linear and that of the latter follows a power law with exponent ∼13. Increased aspect ratios and number densities are seen at low Schmid factors and this may relate to stress fluctuations, caused most probably in the present material by the stress fields at the tips of blocked twins. Overall, it is evident that the dominance of twinning on high Schmid factor systems is preserved at the low strains examined in the present work, despite the stress fluctuations known to be present. © 2014 Acta Materialia Inc. In the current study, the crystallographic of intervariant boundary planes distribution in the lath martensite has been measured as a function of lattice misorientation and boundary plane orientation using five macroscopic parameters approach. The distribution revealed a relatively high anisotropy with a tendency for the lath interfaces to terminate on (110) planes. This results from the crystallographic constraints associated with the shear transformation rather than a low energy interface configuration. The lath martensite habit plane was determined to be mostly (110) or near (110). The relative populations of boundaries with [111] and [110] misorientations were greater than other high index misorientations, mostly characterised as (110) symmetric tilt and (110) twist boundary types, respectively.

Background
Habit retraining is toileting assistance given by a caregiver to adults with urinary incontinence. It involves the identification of an incontinent person's natural voiding pattern and the development of an individualised toileting schedule which pre-empts involuntary bladder emptying.

Objectives
To assess the effects of habit retraining for the management of urinary incontinence in adults.

Search strategy
We searched the Cochrane Incontinence Group specialised register (9 May 2002), MEDLINE (January 1966 to February 2004), EMBASE (January 1980 to Week 18-2002), CINAHL (January 1982 to February 2001), PsychINFO (January 1972 to August 2002), Biological Abstracts (January 1980 to December 2000), Current Contents (January 1993 to December 2001) and the reference lists of relevant articles. We also contacted experts in the field, searched relevant websites and hand searched journals and conference
proceedings.

Selection criteria
All randomised or quasi-randomised controlled trials comparing habit retraining delivered either alone or in conjunction with another intervention for urinary incontinence in adults.

Data collection and analysis
Data extraction and quality assessment were undertaken by at least two people working independendy of each other. Any differences were resolved by discussion. The relative risks for dichotomous data were calculated with 95% confidence intervals. Where data were insufficient for a quantitative analysis, a narrative overview was undertaken.

Main results
Three trials with a total of 337 participants met the inclusion criteria, describing habit retraining combined with other approaches compared with usual care. Participants were primarily care-dependent elderly women with concurrent cognitive and/or physical impairment, residing in either a residential aged-care facility or in their own home. Outcomes included incidence and/or severity of urinary incontinence, the prevalences of urinary tract infection, skin rash and skin breakdown, cost and caregiver preparedness, role strain and burden. Caregivers found it difficult to maintain voiding records and to implement the toileting program. A 61% compliance rate was reported in one trial .

There were no statistically significant differences in the incidence and in the volume of incontinence between groups. Within group analyses did however show improvements on these measures. Reductions were also reported for the intervention group in one study for skin rash, skin breakdown and in caregivers' perceptions of their level of stress. Descriptive data on the. intervention suggests that habit retraining is a labour-intense activity. Electronic loggers, used as an adjunct to caregiver-delivered wet/dry checks, were reported as providing more accurate data than that from caregiver conducted wet/dry checks. To date, no analysis of the time and resources associated with these comparisons is available.

Reviewers' conclusions
Data on habit retraining are few and of insufficient quality to provide a firm basis for practice.

This thesis is concerned with conventions of pictorialism, viz. the surface of an artwork or the plane of denotation (in my case paper, canvas or wood); and iconic imagery and the depiction of perceptual space that is connotated by marks, colours and forms upon that surface. Most importantly this thesis is concerned with the relationship between these elements and the deconstruction of them. That the reconstruction of the deconstructed language can create expressive iconic structures that perhaps contain conflicting information and elements, but are simultaneously single and self-contained perceptual models of seeing the world, and the things in it, in another way; is a major focus. The thesis is embodied in the paintings and drawings which are documented in the exegesis that follows.

The development of physically-based models of microstructural evolution during hot deformation of metallic materials requires knowledge of the grain/subgrain structure and crystallographic texture characteristics over a range of processing conditions. A Fe-30wt%Ni based alloy, retaining a stable austenitic structure at room temperature, was used for modelling the development of austenite microstructure during hot deformation of conventional carbon-manganese steels. A series of plane strain compression tests was carried out at a temperature of 950 °C and strain rates of 10 s-1 and 0.1 s-1 to several strain levels. Evolution of the grain/subgrain structure and crystallographic texture was characterised in detail using quantitative light microscopy and highresolution electron backscatter diffraction. Crystallographic texture characteristics were determined separately for the observed deformed and recrystallised grains. The subgrain geometry and dimensions together with the misorientation vectors across sub-boundaries were quantified in detail across large sample areas and the orientation dependence of these characteristics was determined. Formation mechanisms of the recrystallised grains were established in relation to the deformation microstructure.
