With the introduction of ultra high strength materials and new forming techniques the feasibility process to produce a manufacturable component is extremely difficult. The aim of this thesis was to develop a set of 'design windows' and 'guidelines' for designers and stamping engineers to reference in the initial design phase.

The portfolio examines use of opiate antagonist medication (naltrexone hydrochloride) as a safe and effective treatment for opiate dependence. The program incorporates evidence-based assessment, treatment planning and after-care counselling. Detoxification using naltrexone is highly effective. Use of naltrexone predicts long-term abstinence and better health and social outcomes. Naltrexone implants improve compliance and outcomes.

Background: Structured lipids are being incorporated into foods to reduce their energy value. One such lipid is rich in stearic acid.
Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the effects on plasma lipids of a stearic acid–rich triacylglycerol and a fat rich in palmitic acid in hypercholesterolemic subjects.
Design: Fifteen subjects with an average plasma cholesterol concentration of 6.13 ± 0.80 mmol/L initially ate a low-fat diet for 2 wk (run-in period), followed in random order and blinded fashion by 2 high-fat diets (for 5 wk each) containing foods derived from margarines rich either in palmitic acid or in the structured, stearic acid–rich triacylglycerol.
Results: Plasma cholesterol concentrations with the low-fat, the stearic acid–rich, and the palmitic acid–rich diets were not significantly different (5.35 ± 0.83, 5.41 ± 0.78, and 5.52 ± 0.68 mmol/L, respectively) but were significantly lower (P < 0.001) than those measured during the habitual diet period (ie, 2 wk before the study began). Neither HDL cholesterol nor plasma triacylglycerol differed significantly among the 3 study diets.
Conclusion: A similar increase in the intake of stearic and palmitic acids (differing by <5% of total energy) to ensure a high fat intake resulted in plasma total and LDL-cholesterol concentrations that did not differ significantly from concentrations measured during a period of low-fat intake.

Complex qualitative research projects often require not only adjustments during project implemellfation, but also
adaptation of the methodology and research design. The paper discusses the enhancement of the structured-case
approach to include action research style interventions within structured-case cycles. An application of this approach is presented based on a study of a Community of Practice (CoP) ill the information .lystems domain conducted in four research cycles over several years. The major benefits of the evolved method in elude the flexibility of the resulting research process, and the capacity to capture diverse project outcomes, at the same time making themy building more transparent

This article investigates the context dependency of comfort and energy performance in mixed-mode offices in the climate of Athens, Greece. It is based on a parametric study using the simulation software EnergyPlus. Context refers to different building design priorities on the real estate market (prestige, low cost and green), occupant behaviour scenarios (ideal and worst case) and cooling strategies (fixed and adaptive set points). Results are evaluated according to energy consumption and related greenhouse gas emissions, daylight autonomy, view and percentage of working time when heating and cooling are operating. The results indicate that a holistic approach to comfort and energy performance evaluation focused on the specific context of a building and its occupants is necessary to develop appropriate optimization strategies. In early design stages, such specific information is not yet available and ideal/worst-case scenarios can indicate the magnitude of influence of occupants compared to building design.

Objective: The Mood Disorder Questionnaire (MDQ) is a widely used self-report screening instrument for the detection of bipolar disorder in clinical populations. The aim of the present study was therefore to investigate the reliability of this instrument.

Methods: Screening results using the MDQ were compared with results obtained using the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV-TR Research Version, Non-patient edition (SCID) in a community-based sample of 1066 women. Trained personnel, who were blind to the results of the MDQ screen, conducted clinical interviews.

Results: Using the MDQ, 21 women screened positive for bipolar disorder, and using the SCID diagnoses, 24 women were confirmed with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Six women were detected on both instruments. Compared to the SCID, the sensitivity for the MDQ was 25%, specificity 99%, positive predictive value 28%, negative predictive value 98%, and a demonstrated kappa of 0.25. The MDQ failed to detect any of the 11 participants in the study with bipolar II disorder and missed seven of 13 participants with bipolar I disorder or bipolar not otherwise specified. Of the 21 women who screened positive using the MDQ, 19 had current or past psychopathologies other than bipolar disorder.

Conclusion: The MDQ has substantial limitations for detection of bipolar disorder, in particular bipolar II disorder, in non-clinical populations.

This paper is a report on an Accounting Education Symposium held during the 2009 Annual Congress of the EAA in Tampere, Finland. This was the fourth occasion on which there has been an Accounting Education Symposium (or similar) within an EAA Annual Congress. Previous events were as follows:

2005 (Gotenburg, Sweden) EAA Accounting Educators' Forum
2006 (Dublin, Ireland) 'Universities and Professional Bodies: Complementary or Colliding Roles in Educating and Training Future Accounting Practitioners?' (sponsored by the Irish Accountancy Educational Trust)
2008 (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) 'Accounting Education: The Common Content Project' (sponsored by Royal NIVRA).
