Corruption, governance and collective sanctions: : can a wicked problem be tamed?

Tackling a problem requires mostly, an ability to read it, conceptualize it, represent it, define it, and then applying the necessary mechanisms to solve it. This may sound self-evident except when the problem to be tackled happens to be “complex, “ “ill-structured,” and/or “wicked.” Corruption is one of those kinds of problems. Both in its global and national manifestations it is ill-structured. Where it is structural in nature, endemic and pervasive, it is perhaps even wicked. Qualities of the kind impose modest expectations regarding possibilities of any definitive solution to this insidious phenomenon. If so, it may not suffice to address the problem of corruption using existing categories of law and/or good governance, which overlook the “long-term memory” of the collective and cultural specific dimensions of the subject. Such socio-historical conditions require focusing on the interactive and self-reproducing networks of corruption and attempting to ‘subvert’ that phenomenon’s entire matrix. Concepts such as collective responsibility, collective punishment and sanctions are introduced as relevant categories in the structural, as well as behavioral, subversion of some of the most prevalent aspects of corruption. These concepts may help in the evolving of a new perspective on corruption fighting strategies.

Lanseringen och etableringen av ett socialt problem : En analys av debatten om ledarkulturen inom svensk landslagsgymnastik i Dagens Nyheter 2012–2013

The launching and establishment of a social problem: An analysis of the debate on Swedish national level gymnastics in Dagens Nyheter 2012-2013 In 2012 Sweden’s largest daily newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, published a number of articles on the state of affairs in Swedish national level gymnastics. In these articles, ex-gymnasts, coaches, parents and physicians stepped forward and testified about recurrent wrongdoings and abuse against young (particularly) female gymnasts. In response to the criticism, the accused coaches and representatives of the Swedish Gymnastics Federation downsized or dismissed the criticism as inaccurate. This being said, and using discursive psychology and a qualitative design, this article sheds light upon this debate – by viewing it as a struggle between a hegemonic discourse of ”the goodness” of sports, on the one hand, a number of unfavorable and negative testimonies of the state of affairs in Swedish national level gymnastics on the other. More concretely, this struggle has been analyzed with regard to the discursive and rhetoric resources the involved parties’ used to pursue their claims about the state of affairs in Swedish national level gymnastics and the impact these resources had for their credibility and legitimacy. Questions were: Who is entitled ”to spell out” their view on the state of affairs within Swedish national level gymnastics? What is mediated and how? How are descriptions and accounts about reality constructed as credible and factual? It is concluded that social problems are launched via co-production; in this process, the gymnastics community, the research community, single individuals, and the media – were co-actors. 

Projektarbete i praktiken : Hur kan oförutsedda problem vid projektöverlämningen minimeras

Projektarbete förekommer på många företag och trots att det ofta finns tydligt beskrivna rutiner för hur projektarbetet skall ske händer det att parterna inte är helt överens då projektet ska avslutas. Ibland är det ändringar under projektets gång som ligger till grund för kommande tvister, men i grunden är det oftast kommunikationen som brister mellan parterna. Genom att intervjua några olika företag och analyserat hur de arbetar i projekt har vi i detta arbete kunnat se en röd tråd som består av den viktiga kommunikationen för att skapa och bibehålla sunda relationer. För att hantera de förändringar som kan ske under projektresans gång ser vi i vår analys av de företag som ingått i vår studie att det är av fördel att ha ett nära samarbete med kunder eller leverantörer och helst starta samarbetet tidigt för att möjliggöra justeringar som annars i ett senare skede blir svårare att genomföra. Ett tillvägagångssätt att arbeta med ett projekts interna problem kan vara plattformar som möjliggör en delning av information mellan projektets olika medlemmar. Angreppsvinkeln är då att det ska bli lättare för att samtliga projektdeltagare att kunna ta del av informationen med en förhoppning att minimera missförstånd inom projektet.

Samtal och interaktion vid matematisk problemlösning : En intervjustudie om hur lärare organiserar sin undervisning med matematiska problem

Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur lärare organiserar sin undervisning med matematiska problem. Undersökningen har gjorts med hjälp av fem observationer av undervisningstillfällen samt intervjuer med fem undervisande lärare i matematik. Resultatet från undersökningen visar att kommunikation utgör en stor del av undervisningen med matematiska problem. Lärarna skapar tillfällen till samtal och interaktion i sin undervisning genom hela problemlösningsprocessen trots att deras definition av matematiska problem skiljer sig. Gemensamt för lärarnas undervisning är att den, likt forskning, organiseras i olika faser vilket är ett begrepp som beskrivs ytterligare i bakgrunden av den här studien. Trots denna gemensamma fasindelning visar resultatet att undervisningen organiseras olika inom dessa faser, även i de fall där flera lärare har deltagit i samma typ av fortbildning inom problemlösning. Resultatet visar även att sociomatiska normer är något som påverkar lärarnas organisering av arbetet med matematiska problem samt att undervisning med matematiska problem förekommer i olika stor utsträckning.
