This paper presents a new approach to implement Reed-Muller Universal Logic Module (RM-ULM) networks with reduced delay and hardware for synthesizing logic functions given in Reed-Muller (RM) form. Replication of single control line RM-ULM is used as the only design unit for defining any logic function. An algorithm is proposed that does exhaustive branching to reduce the number of levels and modules required to implement any logic function in RM form. This approach attains a reduction in delay, and power over other implementations of functions having large number of variables.

The present study of the parasitic copepods gives the taxonomic description of thirty one species of parasites collected from various elasmobranch fishes of Kerala coast. Copepods parasitic on fishes include three sub orders, viz. poecilostomatoida, cyclopoida and siphonostomatoida. Parasitic copepods of elasmobranch fishes for the present study were collected from different fish landing centres of Kerala and by undertaking regular fishing trips. The collected parasites are identified to the species level and described. It is found that out of thirty one species, fifteen are new to science. They belong to the genera viz. Nothobomolochus Vervoot, 1962, Caligus Muller, 1785, Alebion, Kroyer, 1863, Gloipotes Steenstrup and Lutken, 1861, Pandarus Leach,1819, Perissopus Steenstrup and Lutken, 1861, Echthrogaleus Steenstrup and Lutken, 1861 and Kroyeria van Beneden, 1853. Fifteen new host records were reported. Two genera viz. Echthrogaleus and Entepherus were reported for first time from Indian waters. A new genus called Penicillus was erected. The general observations made during this study revealed certain interesting aspects of host-parasite relationship, host specificity, site specificity, adaptive modifications and geographical distribution.

The thesis focuses on efficient design methods and reconfiguration architectures suitable for higher performance wireless communication .The work presented in this thesis describes the development of compact, inexpensive and low power communication devices that are robust, testable and capable of handling multiple communication standards.A new multistandard Decimation Filter Design Toolbox is developed in MATLAB GUIDE environment.RNS based dual-mode decimation filters reconfigurable for WCDMA/WiMAX and WCDMA/WLANa standards are designed and implemented. It offers high speed operation with lesser area requirement and lower dynamic power dissipation.A novel sigma-delta based direct analog-to-residue converter that reduces the complexity of RNS conversion circuitry is presented. The performance of an OFDM communication system with a new RRNS-convolutional concatenated coding is analysed and improved BER performance is obtained under different channel conditions. Easily testable MAC units for filters are presented using Reed-Muller logic for realization.

This thesis analyses certain problems in Inventories and Queues. There are many situations in real-life where we encounter models as described in this thesis. It analyses in depth various models which can be applied to production, storag¢, telephone traffic, road traffic, economics, business administration, serving of customers, operations of particle counters and others. Certain models described here is not a complete representation of the true situation in all its complexity, but a simplified version amenable to analysis. While discussing the models, we show how a dependence structure can be suitably introduced in some problems of Inventories and Queues. Continuous review, single commodity inventory systems with Markov dependence structure introduced in the demand quantities, replenishment quantities and reordering levels are considered separately. Lead time is assumed to be zero in these models. An inventory model involving random lead time is also considered (Chapter-4). Further finite capacity single server queueing systems with single/bulk arrival, single/bulk services are also discussed. In some models the server is assumed to go on vacation (Chapters 7 and 8). In chapters 5 and 6 a sort of dependence is introduced in the service pattern in some queuing models.
