Are distortion levels a problem with digital signal processing hearing aids and frequency modulation (FM) systems?

The purpose of this study was to examine objective and subjective distortion present when frequency modulation (FM) systems were coupled with four digital signal processing (DSP) hearing aids. Electroacoustic analysis and subjective listening tests by experienced audiologists revealed that distortion levels varied across hearing aids and channels.

Recommendations for a mathematical curriculum to be used in conjunction with an oral deaf education program

Students who are deaf or hard of hearing have typically had difficulty in mathematics; however, this problem often is overlooked because of difficulties in language and reading abilities. This study aims to identify the most appropriate mathematics curriculum for deaf or hard of hearing students in an oral deaf education program.

Lipreading difficulty during audiovisual integration

Audiovisual integration ability for word-level stimuli was assessed using two talkers, one easy to lipread and the other hard to lipread. No significant effect for integration ability was found for the two talkers.
