This paper reviews a study done to determine the correlation between lipreading, auditory speech perception, language abilities, and hearing loss levels in hearing impaired children.

This paper discusses a test for speech perception and scoring to test likelihood of success with mainstreaming.

This paper studies the effect of residual hearing on post-implant speech perception in children with cochlear implants. The effect of pre-implant auditory experience and the effect of neuronal survival in the implanted ear were investigated.

This paper evaluates speech perception testing in pediatric cochlear implant users. Using pre-recorded stimulus presentation, the author replicated an earlier experiment comparing the Lexical Neighborhood List (LNT) test to the Phonetically Balanced Kindergarten (PB-K) test in estimating speech perception abilities in hearing impaired children.

This paper discusses the effects of conducive hearing loss on language development.

This study examines specific auditory features perceived by profoundly hearing-impaired children using conventional binaural hearing aids and the Nucleus 22 Channel Cochlear Implant. The primary interest of this study was to learn which speech features were most easily perceived by users of each device.

This paper discusses a study to determine average performance on word discrimination tests using the CID Early Speech Perception Test (ESP).
Resumo:
This paper reviews a study to determine the maximum discourse level speech perception capabilities of profoundly deaf children in four speech perception categories as defined by the Early Speech Perception Test (ESP).
Resumo:
This paper reviews a study to investigate how a hearing impaired person can learn to discriminate speech distorted by a low pass filter in a sensory aid.

This dissertation examines the relationship between frequency response and word-discrimination performance of hearing-impaired persons. Three questions are addressed: does the restoration of the normal field-to-eardrum transfer function improve word discrimination; is the restoration of the normal shape of the audibility curve (uniform hearing level at all frequencies) beneficial to hearing-impaired listeners; and can speech discrimination be improved by an extension of the present narrow-band response in hearing aids.

This study evaluate the speech perception of hearing-impaired adults (with varying degrees of deafness) when using a video teleconferencing system (an integrated service digital network).

This paper discusses a study done with chinchillas and their ability to organize speech sounds into auditory concepts.
Resumo:
This paper reviews a study of four complex tones and sound perception among the tones.

This dissertation examines conceptual functioning of hearing impaired persons. Specifically the study addresses perceptual and conceptual functioning in both deaf and hearing children and whether there is a difference in performance as a function of hearing status, as attributable to age differences, or as a function of the school environment.
