Luotettavien energiamittauspalvelujen tarjoaminen vaatii mittauksien ja niihin liittyvien työvaiheiden tarkan dokumentoinnin ja ohjeistuksen. Sähkötaseiden hallinnassa ja sel-vityksessä käytettävien mittaustietojen määrä on suuri. Dokumentointijärjestelmä on välttämätön mittaustietojen hallitsemiseksi. Sujuva työvaiheiden suorittaminen vaatii niiden kartoittamisen ja sen pohjalta tehdyn ohjeistamisen. Diplomityö voidaan jakaa neljään osaan. Aluksi selvitetään sähköenergiamittausten käyttöä tasehallinnassa ja -selvityksessä. Siihen liittyen tehdään selvitys myös mittaus-velvollisuuksista sekä mittausten tarvitsijoista. Toisessa osassa tutkitaan, miten mittaustieto siirretään jännite- ja virtamuuntajilta ener-gianhallintajärjestelmään, ja mitä työvaiheita on suoritettava ennen kuin mittaustieto voidaan ohjata asiakkaalle tai jatkokäsittelyyn. Kolmas osa muodostuu mittaustietokannan kehittämisestä Microsoft Access-tietokantaohjelmalla. Tietokantaan keskitetään kaikki mahdollinen mittauksiin liittyvä tieto. Tietokanta helpottaa monia mittauksiin liittyviä selvitystehtäviä, sillä siitä voidaan hakea tietoa monin eri hakukriteerein. Neljännessä osassa tarkastellaan mittauspalvelun toiminnassa esiin tulleita epäkohtia ja esitetään niille korjausehdotukset.

Alumni are considered as precious resource of the institutions, thus improving alumni adminis-tration is critical. In information era, alumni administration is assisted by widespread information technology, such as social network sites. This paper aims to discover if a self-built information sys-tem would enhance alumni connection in the IMMIT context, and what kind of attributes would be helpful applying to the special context. The current online alumni services at other universities and at the IMMIT host university are analyzed, and then social media is introduced. After illustrating the social capital existing in IM-MIT, the type of the self-built information system is suggested, following an interpretation of the prototype. Two research models are utilized in this article: TAM and intentional social action model. The second model is adjusted with proposed parameters. Afterwards, a survey and an interview protocol are designed under the guidance of the models. The results are analyzed in several groups, and the proposed parameters are tested. A conclusion is drawn to indicate how to improve alumni‟s intention to use and how to achieve a better-accepted design.

Lyhyen kantaman radiotekniikoiden hyödyntäminen mahdollistaa uudenlaisten paikallisten palveluiden käytön ja vanhojen palveluiden kehittämisen. Kulunvalvonta on päivittäisenä palveluna valittu työn esimerkkisovellukseksi. Useita tunnistus- ja valtuutustapoja tutkitaan, ja julkisen avaimen infrastruktuuri on esitellään tarkemmin. Langattomat tekniikat Bluetooth, Zigbee, RFID ja IrDA esitellän yleisellä tasolla langattomat tekniikat –luvussa. Bluetooth-tekniikan rakennetta, mukaan lukien sen tietoturva-arkkitehtuuria, tutkitaan tarkemmin. Bluetooth-tekniikkaa käytetään työssä suunnitellun langattoman kulunvalvontajärjestelmän tietojen siirtoon. Kannettava päätelaite toimii käyttäjän henkilökohtaisena luotettuna laitteena, jota voi käyttää avaimena. Käyttäjän tunnistaminen ja valtuuttaminen perustuu julkisen avaimen infrastruktuuriin. Ylläpidon allekirjoittamat varmenteet sisältävät käyttäjän julkisen avaimen lisäksi tietoa hänestä ja hänen oikeuksistaan. Käyttäjän tunnistaminen kulunvalvontapisteissä tehdään julkisen ja salaisen avaimen käyttöön perustuvalla haaste-vastaus-menetelmällä. Lyhyesti, järjestelmässä käytetään Bluetooth-päätelaitteita langattomina avaimina.

This thesis describes the development of a software requirements specification for a user-centric event management system. The system is set to satisfy three goals: adding value for the event attendees, adding value for the event organizer, and reducing the costs of arranging and running an event. The requirements are identified by researching the prescriptive traits of event business and the current state of the case company and its environment. First the professional and human needs for events are scrutinized. Second, some recent reports about the current trends in the event business are reviewed. Then the event life cycle is presented using the model of new service development, and online promotion of events and especially word-of-mouth marketing receive special attention. Events are also regarded from the perspective of social networks and social media. The case company’s current state and its competitors are reviewed to formulate the needs which the system should fulfil. Then the currently available solutions for social media oriented event management are reviewed. The result is a set of functional and non-functional requirements. The functional requirements are categorized into social media, social networking, event personalization, event management, and system administration features. The specified features and non-functional requirements satisfy the three goals set for the system.

Maintenance is a part of system development and it is possible to develop operation models for accomplishing maintenance tasks. These models can be applied to individual maintenance tasks, maintenance projects and version management. Beneficial operation models makes maintenance more effective and they assist in managing various changes. The purpose of this thesis was to develop a maintenance process which can be used to remote administer network servers. This consisted of defining those operation models and technical specifications which enable to set up, manage changes, maintain and monitor resources of information systems that are located in several different sites. At first in this thesis the needs of the process were determined and requirements were defined based on those needs. The meaning of processes in maintenance of information systems, maintenance workflows and challenges were studied. Then current practical problems and disadvantages of maintenance work were analyzed in order to focus the development to proper issues. Because available operation models did not cover all the recent needs, new maintenance process which fulfilled the requirements was developed.

Internationalization and the following rapid growth have created the need to concentrate the IT systems of many small-to-medium-sized production companies. Enterprise Resource Planning systems are a common solution for such companies. Deployment of these ERP systems consists of many steps, one of which is the implementation of the same shared system at all international subsidiaries. This is also one of the most important steps in the internationalization strategy of the company from the IT point of view. The mechanical process of creating the required connections for the off-shore sites is the easiest and most well-documented step along the way, but the actual value of the system, once operational, is perceived in its operational reliability. The operational reliability of an ERP system is a combination of many factors. These factors vary from hardware- and connectivity-related issues to administrative tasks and communication between decentralized administrative units and sites. To accurately analyze the operational reliability of such system, one must take into consideration the full functionality of the system. This includes not only the mechanical and systematic processes but also the users and their administration. All operational reliability in an international environment relies heavily on hardware and telecommunication adequacy so it is imperative to have resources dimensioned with regard to planned usage. Still with poorly maintained communication/administration schemes no amount of bandwidth or memory will be enough to maintain a productive level of reliability. This thesis work analyzes the implementation of a shared ERP system to an international subsidiary of a Finnish production company. The system is Microsoft Dynamics Ax, currently being introduced to a Slovakian facility, a subsidiary of Peikko Finland Oy. The primary task is to create a feasible base of analysis against which the operational reliability of the system can be evaluated precisely. With a solid analysis the aim is to give recommendations on how future implementations are to be managed.

The traditional process of filling the medicine trays and dispensing the medicines to the patients in the hospitals is manually done by reading the printed paper medicine chart. This process can be very strenuous and error-prone, given the number of sub-tasks involved in the entire workflow and the dynamic nature of the work environment. Therefore, efforts are being made to digitalise the medication dispensation process by introducing a mobile application called Smart Dosing application. The introduction of the Smart Dosing application into hospital workflow raises security concerns and calls for security requirement analysis. This thesis is written as a part of the smart medication management project at Embedded Systems Laboratory, A° bo Akademi University. The project aims at digitising the medicine dispensation process by integrating information from various health systems, and making them available through the Smart Dosing application. This application is intended to be used on a tablet computer which will be incorporated on the medicine tray. The smart medication management system include the medicine tray, the tablet device, and the medicine cups with the cup holders. Introducing the Smart Dosing application should not interfere with the existing process carried out by the nurses, and it should result in minimum modifications to the tray design and the workflow. The re-designing of the tray would include integrating the device running the application into the tray in a manner that the users find it convenient and make less errors while using it. The main objective of this thesis is to enhance the security of the hospital medicine dispensation process by ensuring the security of the Smart Dosing application at various levels. The methods used for writing this thesis was to analyse how the tray design, and the application user interface design can help prevent errors and what secure technology choices have to be made before starting the development of the next prototype of the Smart Dosing application. The thesis first understands the context of the use of the application, the end-users and their needs, and the errors made in everyday medication dispensation workflow by continuous discussions with the nursing researchers. The thesis then gains insight to the vulnerabilities, threats and risks of using mobile application in hospital medication dispensation process. The resulting list of security requirements was made by analysing the previously built prototype of the Smart Dosing application, continuous interactive discussions with the nursing researchers, and an exhaustive stateof- the-art study on security risks of using mobile applications in hospital context. The thesis also uses Octave Allegro method to make the readers understand the likelihood and impact of threats, and what steps should be taken to prevent or fix them. The security requirements obtained, as a result, are a starting point for the developers of the next iteration of the prototype for the Smart Dosing application.
