El projecte "Anàlisi del sistema operatiu RTLinux i implementació d'un entorn de desenvolupament de tasques en temps real" analitza la possibilitat de crear un entorn de desenvolupament de tasques en temps real per poder crear sistemes de control complex, tot això mitjançant codi lliure. Inicialment es fa un aprenentatge sobre el concepte de temps real, després s'elegeix el sistema operatiu en temps real RTLinux per a crear l'entorn de desenvolupament utilitzant el llenguatge de programació Tcl/Tk. Es creen un conjunt d'aplicacions (pel control computacional) per estudiar la viabilitat de la construcció de l'entorn desitjat per facilitar la tasca de l'usuari final. Aquest projecte obre multitud de possibles camins a continuar: comunicació remota, implementació de planificadors, estudi de controladors, etc.

We conduct a laboratory experiment to study how advice affects the gender gap in the entry into a real-effort tournament. Our experiment is motivated by the concerns raised by approaching the gender gap through affirmative action. Advice is given by subjects who have already had some experience with the participation decision. We show that advice improves the entry decision of subjects, in that forgone earnings due to wrong entry decisions go significantly down. This is mainly driven by significantly increased entry of strong performing women, who also become significantly more confident, and reduced entry of weak performing men.

We study the effect of providing relative performance feedback information onperformance, when individuals are rewarded according to their absolute performance. Anatural experiment that took place in a high school offers an unusual opportunity to testthis effect in a real-effort setting. For one year only, students received information thatallowed them to know whether they were performing above (below) the class average aswell as the distance from this average. We exploit a rich panel data set and find that theprovision of this information led to an increase of 5% in students grades. Moreover, theeffect was significant for the whole distribution. However, once the information wasremoved, the effect disappeared. To rule out the concern that the effect may beartificially driven by teachers within the school, we verify our results using nationallevel exams (externally graded) for the same students, and the effect remains.

La aparición de nuevos tipos de aplicaciones, como vídeo bajo demanda, realidad virtual y videoconferencias entre otras, caracterizadas por la necesidad de cumplir sus deadlines. Este tipo de aplicaciones, han sido denominadas en la literatura aplicaciones soft-real time (SRT) periódicas. Este trabajo se centra en el problema de la planificación temporal de este nuevo tipo de aplicaciones en clusters no dedicados.

The objective of this paper is to re-evaluate the attitude to effort of a risk-averse decision-maker in an evolving environment. In the classic analysis, the space of efforts is generally discretized. More realistic, this new approach emploies a continuum of effort levels. The presence of multiple possible efforts and performance levels provides a better basis for explaining real economic phenomena. The traditional approach (see, Laffont, J. J. & Tirole, J., 1993, Salanie, B., 1997, Laffont, J.J. and Martimort, D, 2002, among others) does not take into account the potential effect of the system dynamics on the agent's behavior to effort over time. In the context of a Principal-agent relationship, not only the incentives of the Principal can determine the private agent to allocate a good effort, but also the evolution of the dynamic system. This paper proposes a field application of a high-level reinforcement learning (RL) control system for solving the action selection problem of an autonomous robot in cable tracking task. The learning system is characterized by using a direct policy search method for learning the internal state/action mapping. Policy only algorithms may suffer from long convergence times when dealing with real robotics. In order to speed up the process, the learning phase has been carried out in a simulated environment and, in a second step, the policy has been transferred and tested successfully on a real robot. Future steps plan to continue the learning process on-line while on the real robot while performing the mentioned task. We demonstrate its feasibility with real experiments on the underwater robot ICTINEU AUV

In the future, robots will enter our everyday lives to help us with various tasks.For a complete integration and cooperation with humans, these robots needto be able to acquire new skills. Sensor capabilities for navigation in real humanenvironments and intelligent interaction with humans are some of the keychallenges.Learning by demonstration systems focus on the problem of human robotinteraction, and let the human teach the robot by demonstrating the task usinghis own hands. In this thesis, we present a solution to a subproblem within thelearning by demonstration field, namely human-robot grasp mapping. Robotgrasping of objects in a home or office environment is challenging problem.Programming by demonstration systems, can give important skills for aidingthe robot in the grasping task.The thesis presents two techniques for human-robot grasp mapping, directrobot imitation from human demonstrator and intelligent grasp imitation. Inintelligent grasp mapping, the robot takes the size and shape of the object intoconsideration, while for direct mapping, only the pose of the human hand isavailable.These are evaluated in a simulated environment on several robot platforms.The results show that knowing the object shape and size for a grasping taskimproves the robot precision and performance

La part teòrica inclou informació extreta de diferents fonts bibliogràfiques i a la part pràctica se n’analitza l’ús a partir d’un exercici elaborat amb fragments del guió de dues pel·lícules (llenguatge oral fingit) i la col·laboració d’estudiants de diferents parts d’Alemanya.

This paper analyses the theoretical relevance of the dynamical aspects of growth on the discussion about the observed positive correlation between per capita real income and real exchange rates. With this purpose, we develop a simple exogenous growth model where the internal, external and intertemporal equilibrium conditions of a typical macroeconomic model are imposed; this last one through the inclusion of a balanced growth path for the foreign assets accumulation. The main result under this consideration is that the relationship defended by the Balassa-Samuelson hypothesis is no more so straightforward. In our particular approach, the mentioned bilateral relationship depends on a parameter measuring thriftiness in the economy. Therefore, the probability of ending up with a positive relationship between growth and real exchange rates -as the classical economic theory predicts- will be higher when the economy is able to maintain a minimum saving ratio. Moreover, given that our model considers a simple Keynesian consumption function, some explosive paths can also be possible.

En este trabajo se presenta una estimación de la contribución de los Fondos Estructurales de la Unión Europea al crecimiento del producto y el empleo del conjunto de las regiones españolas Objetivo 1. Los resultados indican que las ayudas europeas han contribuido de forma muy significativa al acercamiento de la renta española al nivel medio de la UE y han ayudado a mitigar las disparidades internas, relajando de alguna forma el trade-off entre crecimiento agregado y cohesión territorial. La previsible pérdida de buena parte de estas ayudas en un futuro no muy lejano constituye un reto importante para el que convendría empezar a prepararse.

Based on an behavioral equilibrium exchange rate model, this paper examines the determinants of the real effective exchange rate and evaluates the degree of misalignment of a group of currencies since 1980. Within a panel cointegration setting, we estimate the relationship between exchange rate and a set of economic fundamentals, such as traded-nontraded productivity differentials and the stock of foreign assets. Having ascertained the variables are integrated and cointegrated, the long-run equilibrium value of the fundamentals are estimated and used to derive equilibrium exchange rates and misalignments. Although there is statistical homogeneity, some structural differences were found to exist between advanced and emerging economies.

This paper explores the real exchange rate behavior in Mexico from 1960 until 2005. Since the empirical analysis reveals that the real exchange rate is not mean reverting, we propose that economic fundamental variables affect its evolution in the long-run. Therefore, based on equilibrium exchange rate paradigms, we propose a simple model of real exchange rate determination which includes the relative labor productivity, the real interest rates and the net foreign assets over a long period of time. Our analysis also considers the dynamic adjustment in response to shocks through impulse response functions derived from the multivariate VAR model.

Emmarcat en un context educatiu, la present recerca fa un recorregut teòric per les diferents perspectives que fonamenten els diferents enfocaments de l'ensenyament i aprenentatge de la natació i presenta aquelles estratègies d'ensenyança basades en el descobriment que, fruit de les seves característiques i estructura, poden ser utilitzades per part dels monitors de natació perquè els alumnes s'impliquin cognitivament en els processos d'ensenyament-aprenentatge de la natació. La recerca aprofundeix en la pedagogia del descobriment entenent-la com aquell context educatiu condicionat per l'educador, mitjançant el qual i amb la utilització de les estratègies d'ensenyança pertinents, aquest, a l'hora de presentar les activitats i interaccionar amb els alumnes, pot fomentar el seu protagonisme. Un protagonisme que vindrà marcat per l'aportació personal de cada alumne, d'aquelles respostes descobertes fruit de les decisions preses davant l'estructura de l'activitat presentada, sempre de forma intencionada, pel monitor. D'aquesta manera es promou una implicació i una participació activa dels alumnes en els processos d'aprenentatge de la natació qua ajuda a cercar-ne la significació, en contraposició, a la visió més tradicional del tractament dels cursets de natació i dels seus aprenentatges basats en una pedagogia del model. Una pedagogia en la repetició i automatització d'uns gests presentats pel monitor de natació.
