This text corresponds to the contents of the seminar “Information Services at the Sport Institutions” held by the author as part of the programme of activities of the Invited Professor of Olympism of the International Chair in Olympism (IOC-UAB) in 2001. The seminar discusses the potential of technologies such as the Internet in sports documentation.

Sport, immigration and multiculturality: a conceptual analysis

Paper given by Chris Kennett at the European Forum: Culture, Sport and Proximity held in Almería on the 5 May 2005 and promoted by the Diputación Provincial de Almería. The paper explores the key concepts that comprise the social policy discourse related to immigration and how these relate to sports provision. The potential role for sport in the integration of immigrants is considered, as well as the risks of sports as a potentially divisive force, particularly in terms of racism. This discussion leads to the consideration of the need for intercultural dialogue through sport in order to contribute to the achievement of the sustainable integration of immigrant groups. In order to achieve this goal, research is called for into the needs of immigrant groups as a key phase in the development of sports policy.

Sport and multiculturalism: an European perspective

Opening conference of the academic course 2005/06 of the Olympic Studies Centre (CEO-UAB), given by Dr. Ian P. Henry, director of the Institute for Sport and Leisure Policy at Loughborough University (United Kingdom). The paper is structured around addressing three themes: how concepts of multiculturalism or interculturalism, nationality and citizenship can be linked to sports policy; how we can conceptualise (and therefore evaluate) the benefits which might be claimed to accrue from sporting projects in terms of multicultural or integration policy; and finally the issue of gender, multiculturalism and sports policy.

The new role of the mass media in the construction of sport and Olympic values

This paper was presented in the International Symposium on Toward the Creation of New-Sport Cultures, undertaken in Osaka, Japan, in January 28, 1996. The main purpose is to make an interpretation of the cultural values of sport and Olympism in contemporary society, considering the enormous influence that the media have on them.

Análisis de l'utilitat d'una plataforma digital sincrónica i de l'apropiació conceptual del professorat dels Camps d'Aprenentatge en el marc d'un curs de formació permanent

El projecte pretenia analitzar com l'ús de les noves tecnologies incideixen en un procés de formació permanent per afavorir la participació i l’apropiació de les noves mirades als fenòmens, la innovació en didàctica de les ciències experimentals i les ciències socials. El projecte ha tingut una durada d'un any i s'ha realitzat a Catalunya. En el projecte han intervingut tres formadors de la UAB i els Camps d'Aprenentatge depenents del Departament d'Educació. El desenvolupament del projecte ha tingut lloc en base als materials elaborats o transcrits durant diferents sessions virtuals, en les que s'ha utilitzat una plataforma sincrònica, i en diferents sessions presencials. Els resultats del projecte mostren que tot i que el canvi de les mirades sobre els fenòmens del món és un procés lent, l'us de la plataforma combinada amb sessions presencials, i l'anàlisi i la discussió dels resultats amb els formadors, afavoreix aquest procés de canvi.

GPS Sport Sniffer : aplicació de seguiment de rutes GPS desenvolupat en QT i C++

En aquest projecte s'ha dut a terme la implementació d'una aplicació per telèfons mòbils que faciliti el seguiment de rutes GPS d'activitats esportives a l'aire lliure. S'inclou també el vídeo de presentació del projecte final de carrera.

Disseny d’un sistema de recàrrega dinámica de vehicles elèctrics mitjançant witricitat en camps de ressonància

Amb aquest projecte es pretén dissenyar un sistema de recàrrega de les bateries delsvehicles elèctrics mentre aquests funcionen, i d’aquesta forma disminuir ladependència d’aquests al nivell de càrrega de la bateria, conferir-los més autonomia itransformar el temps de recàrrega del vehicle en temps útil de conducció. El sistema estarà format per un grup de bobines fixades al paviment i connectades enparal•lel al llarg de la calçada de la via per on el vehicle elèctric circularà, el qual tambéincorporarà, en la part inferior, una bobina en ressonància magnètica amb lesanteriorment anomenades. Les bobines immòbils, que estaran connectades a la xarxaelèctrica, induiran en la bobina fixada al vehicle un corrent elèctric a partir dels circuitsressonants als quals estan connectades. S’estudiarà la configuració més òptimad’aquest sistema per tal de subministrar la potència necessària per carregar la bateria,tenint en compte la despesa energètica extra derivada del fet de realitzar-ho enmoviment

El dolor tendinoso, conocido como tendinopatía, es muy común en individuos físicamente activos, ya sea a nivel competitivo como recreacional. Sin embargo, se ha demostrado que individuos físicamente inactivos también lo sufren. Por lo tanto, se puede afirmar que la actividad física no se puede asociar directamente a la histopatología, y que el ejercicio físico puede ser más importante en la provocación de los síntomas que en ser el causante de la lesión1 and 2. La sobreutilización induce esta condición, pero la etiología y la patogenia no están científicamente clarificadas...

La realitat psicopedagògica a educació primària : necessitats emergents, camps d'intervenció

Al llarg de l’article hem presentat quina és la situació actual de la intervenció dels professionals a Primària, des del punt de vista de la diversitat cultural, la diversitat funcional, la diversitat en els processos d’aprenentatge, la relació família-escola, la inexistència d’assessorament professional en molts centres, la realitat dels docents en relació a la seva activitat i la metodologia a les aules. Aquests set plantejaments ens han permès elaborar unes propostes de futur centrades en la intervenció, per part del psicopedagog, en la prevenció inespecífi ca, la intervenció en l’avaluació a Primària, la intervenció en la diversitat funcional i la intervenció en la relació entre la família i l’escola…, amb la fi nalitat de mostrar que els canvis són possibles.

Measuring service quality in sport management: an application of the SERVQUAL scale

The aim of this study is to provide an instrument for measuring service quality in sports enterprises from the point of view of the customers. For this purpose we intend to elaborate an enquiry starting out from a more general scale called SERVIQUAL. We have limited our research project to sports enterprises where the customer participates actively, i.e., we have excluded sports clubs and other organizations which offer sport as entertainment. Our choice is mainly due to the fact that few studies have been carried out in this area and that sports has been earning an increasing amount of adepts during the last decades in Spain. The DELPHI method has been applied with the collaboration of a panel of experts in order to evaluate the viability and adequacy of the modified SERVQUAL scale.
