After a historical survey of temperament in Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier by Johann Sebastian Bach, an analysis of the work has been made by applying a number of historical good temperaments as well as some recent proposals. The results obtained show that the global dissonance for all preludes and fugues in major keys can be minimized using the Kirnberger II temperament. The method of analysis used for this research is based on the mathematical theories of sensory dissonance, which have been developed by authors such as Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand von Helmholtz, Harry Partch, Reinier Plomp, Willem J. M. Levelt and William A. Sethares

Estudio que intenta exponer la "verdad" del pensamiento filosófico de Richard Wagner y su visión del mundo a través de los personajes creados por él en su tetralogía titulada "El anillo del Nibelungo". Para ello se analizan los orígenes mitológico-religiosos de los personajes y las influencias filosóficas recibidas por Wagner durante su proceso de creación de parte de Ludwig Feuerbach y Arthur Schopenhauer, además de Friedrich Nietzsche.

Amb aquest treball ens proposem bàsicament fer una lectura de De la certesa, el veritablement darrer text de Ludvig Wittgenstein atès que les seves últimesentrades van ser escrites tot just dos dies abans de morir. Avui comença a ser acceptada la idea que Wittgenstein no va escriure dues sinó tres obres majors. El relat estàndard que parla de dos Wittgensteins (el del Tractatus i el de les Investigacions) va essent qüestionat o si més no matisat, a mesura que va creixent l’interès pels últims textos de Wittgenstein i en particular pel text que ens ocupa. El nostre treball de recerca serà doncs, una lectura de De la certesa, convençuts com estem de la seva rellevància, tant pel què fa a la comprensióde la pròpia filosofia de Wittgenstein i la seva evolució, com pel què fa a algunes qüestions centrals en el debat de l’epistemologia contemporània. Ensproposem dir alguna cosa sobre l’obra en si mateixa, el seu lloc en el corpuswittgensteinià, i sobre la rellevància dels seus plantejaments en el debat actual al voltant de l’escepticisme i el relativisme

[spa]Desde la década de 1970 el feminismo ha significado una de las profundizaciones críticas m.s productivas del legado del pensamiento político de la modernidad. El presente artículo atiende al cuestionamiento de las modernas nociones de libertad y comunidad políticas que Linda Zerilli ha llevado a cabo en su lectura de Hannah Arendt y de Ludwig Wittgenstein. A partir de ah. y de la reciente querella en torno al diformismo sexual, se muestra la necesidad de repensar la relación entre teoría y praxis más allá de la concepción moderna, presente en buena parte de la teoría feminista contemporánea. [eng]Since the 1970s feminism has signified one of the most productive critical reconsiderations of modern political thought legacy. This article examines the questioning ofmodern notions of political freedom and political community that Linda Zerilli has undertaken in her reading of Hannah Arendt and Ludwig Wittgenstein. On this basis and on criticism of sexual dimorphism, the article shows the need to rethink the relationship between theory and praxis beyond itsmodern conception, a feature present in much of contemporary feminist theory.

SEPServer is a three-year collaborative project funded by the seventh framework programme (FP7-SPACE) of the European Union. The objective of the project is to provide access to state-of-the-art observations and analysis tools for the scientific community on solar energetic particle (SEP) events and related electromagnetic (EM) emissions. The project will eventually lead to better understanding of the particle acceleration and transport processes at the Sun and in the inner heliosphere. These processes lead to SEP events that form one of the key elements of space weather. In this paper we present the first results from the systematic analysis work performed on the following datasets: SOHO/ERNE, SOHO/EPHIN, ACE/EPAM, Wind/WAVES and GOES X-rays. A catalogue of SEP events at 1 AU, with complete coverage over solar cycle 23, based on high-energy (~68-MeV) protons from SOHO/ERNE and electron recordings of the events by SOHO/EPHIN and ACE/EPAM are presented. A total of 115 energetic particle events have been identified and analysed using velocity dispersion analysis (VDA) for protons and time-shifting analysis (TSA) for electrons and protons in order to infer the SEP release times at the Sun. EM observations during the times of the SEP event onset have been gathered and compared to the release time estimates of particles. Data from those events that occurred during the European day-time, i.e., those that also have observations from ground-based observatories included in SEPServer, are listed and a preliminary analysis of their associations is presented. We find that VDA results for protons can be a useful tool for the analysis of proton release times, but if the derived proton path length is out of a range of 1 AU < s[3 AU, the result of the analysis may be compromised, as indicated by the anti-correlation of the derived path length and release time delay from the asso ciated X-ray flare. The average path length derived from VDA is about 1.9 times the nominal length of the spiral magnetic field line. This implies that the path length of first-arriving MeV to deka-MeV protons is affected by interplanetary scattering. TSA of near-relativistic electrons results in a release time that shows significant scatter with respect to the EM emissions but with a trend of being delayed more with increasing distance between the flare and the nominal footpoint of the Earth-connected field line.

This study makes an attempt to capture some of the aesthetic ideas prospering in the latter half of the eighteenth century and investigates in what way these are possibly being manifested in different musical aspects in Beethoven's early work, and most specifically in his eight sonata, often referred to as the Pathétique sonata. Beginning the first chapter with an introduction to aesthetic notions in Beethoven's age, the second chapter is mostly concerned with anecdotes regarding the Pathétique sonata. Further the third chapter exhibits possible influences between Cherubini, Beethoven and Wagner, and the last three chapters treat different musical and aesthetic aspects like Beethoven's relation to the C minor tonality, the German Sturm und Drang movement, and finally some parallels that can be found between literature and music.
