Sobre la diosa Siria o un posible regreso a casa de Luciano de Samosata

The De Dea Syria belongs, in the manuscript tradition, to the corpus of Lucian of Samosata. His authorship, however, has been discussed: while some perceive in it clear non-lucianic elements, others do not find them conclusive proofs, considering the usual evasive character of Lucian. Assuming that his author is actually Lucian -or, in any case, a hellenized Syrian of imperial times-, the analysis of descriptions, narrative, language and narrator-text, give valuable information on fusion and interaction among cultures in the Roman Empire. Why do educated mothers matter? A model of parental help

The paper investigates the role of mothers in affecting childrens' performance at school. It develops a theoretical model in which household is treated as an individual, whose utility depends on the performance at school of the student and on consumption. The model focuses on the possibilities through which mother’s help may affect pupil's performance in terms of time devoted to supervision and spillover effects. Empirical evidence, using Italian PISA 2006, shows that highly educated mothers have a positive impact on students' score only when they are highly qualified in the job market.

Valoración del estudio vesical y del tracto urinario superior en pacientes con citología urinaria positiva y pruebas de imagen negativas

Introducció: La citologia urinària positiva en context de cistoscopia sense evidència de tumor macroscòpic obliga a continuar el seu estudi. En el nostre centre es realitzen biòpsies vesicals múltiples normatitzades (BMN) i citologia ureteral selectiva en aquest casos. Material i mètodes: Estudi retrospectiu de 70 pacients amb citologia urinària positiva en absència de tumor macroscòpic. Es van avaluar els resultats de totes les biòpsies vesicals múltiples i les citologies ureterals selectives realitzades. Resultats: Es va diagnosticar CIS vesical em 45 (64,3%) pacients. Es va detectar citologia ureteral positiva em 12: cinc (7,2%) en el costat esquerre i set (10%) en el dret. Es va observar CIS vesical concomitant em 2 de 5 pacients amb PAP ureteral positiu esquerra i em 5 de 7 amb PAP ureteral positiu dret. Conclusions: La biòpsia múltiple normatitzada (BMN) és útil per a aquest casos. Els pobres resultats obtinguts en citologia ureteral selectiva posen en dubte la rendibilitat de la seva utilització sistemàtica.
