Projecte per recuperar les dades d'una estació meteorològica i desenvolupar una sèrie d'aplicacions i serveis en diferents tecnologies per consultar l'evolució d'aquestes dades en temps real.

Binary proposal for assessing quality of Open Access Institutional Repositories : the case of Spanish repositories

The reason for this study is to propose a new quantitative approach on how to assess the quality of Open Access University Institutional Repositories. The results of this new approach are tested in the Spanish University Repositories. The assessment method is based in a binary codification of a proposal of features that objectively describes the repositories. The purposes of this method are assessing the quality and an almost automatically system for updating the data of the characteristics. First of all a database was created with the 38 Spanish institutional repositories. The variables of analysis are presented and explained either if they are coming from bibliography or are a set of new variables. Among the characteristics analyzed are the features of the software, the services of the repository, the features of the information system, the Internet visibility and the licenses of use. Results from Spanish universities ARE provided as a practical example of the assessment and for having a picture of the state of the development of the open access movement in Spain.

Is It Possible to Predict the Manual Web Accessibility Result Using the Automatic Result?

The most adequate approach for benchmarking web accessibility is manual expert evaluation supplemented by automatic analysis tools. But manual evaluation has a high cost and is impractical to be applied on large websites. In reality, there is no choice but to rely on automated tools when reviewing large web sites for accessibility. The question is: to what extent the results from automatic evaluation of a web site and individual web pages can be used as an approximation for manual results? This paper presents the initial results of an investigation aimed at answering this question. He have performed both manual and automatic evaluations of the accessibility of web pages of two sites and we have compared the results. In our data set automatically retrieved results could most definitely be used as an approximation manual evaluation results.

Spectrum Sharing Models in Cognitive Radio

Spectrum scarcity demands thinking new ways tomanage the distribution of radio frequency bands so that its use is more effective. The emerging technology that can enable this paradigm shift is the cognitive radio. Different models fororganizing and managing cognitive radios have emerged, all with specific strategic purposes. In this article we review the allocation spectrum patterns of cognitive radio networks andanalyse which are the common basis of each model.We expose the vulnerabilities and open challenges that still threaten the adoptionand exploitation of cognitive radios for open civil networks.

Error probability in synchronous digital circuits due to power supply noise

This paper presents a probabilistic approach to model the problem of power supply voltage fluctuations. Error probability calculations are shown for some 90-nm technology digital circuits.The analysis here considered gives the timing violation error probability as a new design quality factor in front of conventional techniques that assume the full perfection of the circuit. The evaluation of the error bound can be useful for new design paradigms where retry and self-recoveringtechniques are being applied to the design of high performance processors. The method here described allows to evaluate the performance of these techniques by means of calculating the expected error probability in terms of power supply distribution quality.

The IST METRA Project

This article summarizes the main achievementsof the Multi-Element Transmit andReceive Antennas (METRA) Project, an ISTresearch and technological development project carried out between January 2000 and June 2001 by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the Center for Personkommunikation of Aalborg University, Nokia Networks, Nokia Mobile Phones, and Vodafone Group Research and Development.The main objective of METRA was the performanceevaluation of multi-antenna terminals incombination with adaptive antennas at the basestation in UMTS communication systems. 1 AMIMO channel sounder was developed that providedrealistic multi-antenna channel measurements.Using these measured data, stochasticchannel models were developed and properly validated.These models were also evaluated inorder to estimate their corresponding channelcapacity. Different MIMO configurations andprocessing schemes were developed for both theFDD and TDD modes of UTRA, and their linkperformance was assessed. Performance evaluationwas completed by system simulations thatillustrated the benefits of MIMO configurationsto the network operator. Implementation cost vs.performance improvement was also covered bythe project, including the base station and terminalmanufacturer and network operator viewpoints.Finally, significant standards contributionswere generated by the project and presented to the pertinent 3GPP working groups.

Voltage fluctuations in IC power supply distribution

The supply voltage decrease and powerconsumption increase of modern ICs made the requirements for low voltage fluctuation caused by packaging and on-chip parasitic impedances more difficult to achieve. Most of the research works on the area assume that all the nodes of the chip are fed at thesame voltage, in such a way that the main cause of disturbance or fluctuation is the parasitic impedance of packaging. In the paper an approach to analyze the effect of high and fast current demands on the on-chip power supply network. First an approach to model the entire network by considering a homogeneous conductive foil is presented. The modification of the timing parameters of flipflops caused by spatial voltage drops through the IC surface are also investigated.

Això ha permès tenir una imatge de conjunt de com algunes famílies de l’oligarquia local projectaven el seu poder i la seva activitat econòmica sobre el territori.

Es tractad' aplicar una metodologia de treball que consta de diversos passos que anirem desenvolupant de forma progressiva. És una guia que posa en ordre la successiva informació que anem recollint sobre el nostre entorn més immediat. Un cop desenvolupat aquest procés de recollida d' informació, tindrem els elements suticients per prendre decisions estrategiques encaminades a definir un servei eficaç a un determinat segment de la població amb unes necessitats concretes.

TotEsport

Desenvolupament de dues aplicacions destinades a oferir informació bàsica dels productes dins d'un centre comercial. Aquestes dues aplicacions es desenvoluparan en llenguatge .NET però en dues tecnologies diferents. L'aplicació destinada als clients de les botigues es desenvoluparà en tecnologia ASP.NET i es tractarà d'una pàgina web. L'aplicació destinada al personal de la botiga es desenvoluparà en tecnologia WPF i es tractarà d'una aplicació d'escriptori. Ambdues aplicacions compartiran informació que estarà emmagatzemada en una base de dades i, en el cas de les imatges, en directoris físics del servidor.

Modelado circuital de diferentes configuraciones de antenas microstrip

L’objectiu del projecte es facilitar el disseny i la modificació d’antenes microstrip utilitzant models circuitals. En el document s’exposa conjuntament la teoria de vàries configuracions d’antenes microstrip dispersa en varis documents i les equacions més rellevants per l’anàlisi dels fenòmens que es produeixen en cada model d’antena amb l’objectiu de realitzar un estudi detallat de les tendències dels components de cada configuració. L’estudi de les tendències es realitza per obtenir una relació entre els paràmetres físics i els components dels models circuitals proposats per a cada configuració d’antena microstrip. Utilitzant la teoria exposada en el document i l’estudi realitzat es comprova que és possible facilitar i realitzar modificacions en el disseny d’antenes microstrip mitjançant els models circuitals proposats.

Estudi d'anàlisi de cicle de vida de cubicles amb coberta vegetada

Aquest projecte tracta sobre l'estudi d'unes noves solucions constructives per tal de millorar l'eficiència energètica dels edificis actuals. Per estudiar i obtenir resultats verídics s'utilitzen 4 cubicles reals, existents a Puigverd de Lleida, amb les mateixes dimensions interiors i idèntiques solucions constructives en façana però amb solucions diferents en coberta (2 d'elles amb coberta vegetada amb diferent tipus de drenatge, el tercer amb coberta plana convencional no transitable i el quart amb una solució constructiva considerada com a referència) per tal de comparar-los. És un estudi d'investigació mitjançant un anàlisi de cicle de vida (ACV) dels quatre cubicles utilitzant la base de dades Eco Invent 99.
