Who are Cerverí's worst enemies?

Those who heard the piece sung at the royal court of Aragon, where it was composed, were more than likely familiar with its author, the troubadour Cerverí de Girona, one of the most significant poets of the time. If later readers knew the poem from a compilation similar to the only chansonnier that has preserved it until present times, they would have had access to at least one hundred and three other pieces by the same troubadour, which give useful clues to understand this self-referential piece

Notes sobre la tradició textual del Llibre dels àngels de Francesc Eiximenis

L’edició completa de les obres de Francesc Eiximenis és una empresa filològica que presenta dificultats objectives, no només perquè les obres tenen un pes material més que considerable, sinó també per la gran quantitat de testimonis manuscrits i impresos que cal col·lacionar. Amb l’objectiu d’ajudar a superar aquestes dificultats, ja fa alguns anys que l’Institut de Llengua i Cultura Catalanes de la Universitat de Girona ha emprès la publicació de les Obres de Francesc Eiximenis, i avui afortunadament podem afirmar que les obres d’Eiximenis, especialment les inèdites, ja tenen equips de treball que s’ocupen de la preparació de les edicions corresponents. Paral·lelament, i en la mateixa línia de treball, s’ha iniciat una nova descripció integral dels testimonis manuscrits i impresos de Francesc Eiximenis, els primers resultats de la qual es podran consultar en línia ben aviat. Ya son más de una docena los estudios dedicados a la asimilación de Dante en la obra de Borges, pero la dispersión bibliográfica y la carencia de una edición crítica de los textos borgesianos pueden suponer un obstáculo serio para quien pretenda estudiar este aspecto de forma sistemática. Por ello, en este artículo se ofrece una síntesis de los problemas que entraña la presencia de Dante en Borges (cronología de su presencia, tendencias de la crítica y significado de Dante en la poética del escritor argentino). También se ofrece un corpus, ordenado y completo, de las menciones de Dante en las narraciones, ensayos y poemas del bonaerense, que incluye los ensayos que este dedicó a la Comedia, los recuerdos autobiográficos que le conciernen, las menciones generales y precisas, y los comentaristas de Dante que citó a lo largo de sus textos

A reflection about the social and technological aspects in flood risk management - the case of the Italian Civil Protection

The right of a person to be protected from natural hazards is a characteristic of the social and economical development of the society. This paper is a contribution to the reflection about the role of Civil Protection organizations in a modern society. The paper is based in the inaugural conference made by the authors on the 9th Plinius Conference on Mediterranean Storms. Two major issues are considered. The first one is sociological; the Civil Protection organizations and the responsible administration of the land use planning should be perceived as reliable as possible, in order to get consensus on the restrictions they pose, temporary or definitely, on the individual free use of the territory as well as in the entire warning system. The second one is technological: in order to be reliable they have to issue timely alert and warning to the population at large, but such alarms should be as "true" as possible. With this aim, the paper summarizes the historical evolution of the risk assessment, starting from the original concept of "hazard", introducing the concepts of "scenario of event" and "scenario of risk" and ending with a discussion about the uncertainties and limits of the most advanced and efficient tools to predict, to forecast and to observe the ground effects affecting people and their properties. The discussion is centred in the case of heavy rains and flood events in the North-West of Mediterranean Region.

Avaluació de revistes i avaluació de la recerca en humanitats i ciències socials a Catalunya: aproximació a un problema

The evaluation of the quality and impact of journals as a starting point to systematise the quality of research is an indirect method commonly used for obtaining information for systematic and major evaluation efforts, such as those needed for public tenders to aid projects and research groups. Nevertheless, this method runs into an important obstacle: preparing rankings of journals in the humanities and social sciences is considerably more complex than for those on experimental, biomedical or technological sciences. Cultural, linguistic and territorial components of research in the humanities and social sciences radically question the international rankings. Within this context, the article presents the experience of a study-in-progress whose intention is to evaluate the rankings of journals in the humanities and social sciences published in 1997 by the Generalitat de Catalunya. Even thought an attempt was made to bring this type of titles closer to the Catalan community of researchers, the initiative has been frequently surrounded by controversy and criticism and, at the present, does not enjoy the needed recognition of the Catalan academic sector.

We argue that preferences for secession are the expression of a common unobserved mechanisms determining national identity. This paper examines the hypothesis of independence of both preferences for secession (independent Euskadi) and Basque national identity in the light of Akerloff and Kranton (2000). We deal with psychological determinants of individuals' national identity formation as well as those that influence the propensity of individuals to support the secession of their perceived ¿imagined community¿ or nation.. We undertake econometric survey analysis for the Basque Country using a bivariate probit model and publicly available data from the Spanish Centre for Sociological Research. Our results provide robust evidence of a common determination of national identity and political preferences for the secession of the Basque Country consistently with Akerloff and Kranton model.

La crítica feminista y el problema de la forma

Dice Beatriz Sarlo (2001, p. 28) que un intelectual es aquel que pone en escena los términos de un problema y obliga a una definición colectiva que los tome en cuenta. Para que esto suceda el intelectual debe ser también quien se interroga por las categorías con las que opera. Si la literatura existe como problema, según mi perspectiva, para la crítica feminista, esto se debe a que la operación que vincula el concepto de literatura y el de crítica feminista debe necesariamente definirse en relación con un horizonte hoy en retirada, pero cuya crepuscular energía obliga constantemente a apelar a sus herramientas: la estética.

El Teatro Español bajo la mirada Crítica de Emilia Pardo Bazán en 'La Vida Contemporánea'

Desde 1896 hasta 1916, Emilia Pardo Bazán colaboró periódicamente en el semanario barcelonés La ilustración artística con una sección fija titulada «La vida contemporánea». Este trabajo se centra en la crítica teatral que la autora vertía en estas crónicas. Asimismo, al final se recoge un índice temático de aquellas colaboraciones en las que trataba sobre cualquier aspecto relacionado con las artes escénica.
