Eina gràfica per la creació d'autòmats per a la representació del llenguatge natural

Aquest projecte tracta la implementació d’una eina gràfica multiplataforma de creació i edició de gramàtiques electròniques per representar el Llenguatge Natural. És una eina per lingüistes i projectes com Spanish FrameNet Project amb la quan poden representar fàcilment transductors en un format més visual, les transicions es representen en forma de “caixes”, i guardar els resultats. S’han implementat varies opcions per crear una eina còmode i personalitzable per l’usuari amb funcionalitats enfocades a les seves necessitats com importar/exportar autòmats des d’una Expressió Regular. Es tracta l’implementació de tots els components que s’han necessitat per crear la GUI així com la seva funcionalitat.

Preserving Electronic Theses through the MetaArchive network

In the recent years most libraries have focused on mass digitization programs and keeping electronic born documents, showing and organizing them in a repository. While those repositories have evolved to a much more manageable systems focusing on the user expectations and introducing web 2.0 tools, digital preservation is still in the to-do list of most of them. There is quite a lot of studies focused on preservation and some complex models exist, unfortunately, very few practical systems are running and its quite difficult for a library to get involved in a solution already tested by others. The CBUC (Consortium of University Catalan Libraries) runs TDX, an ETD repository now keeping more than 10.000 full text thesis from any of the 12 university members. After 10 years running TDX a solid preservation system was needed to ensure every thesis would be kept as it was regardless what happens to the repository. The perfect solution was found in the MetaArchive cooperative, this is the effort of many insitutions to keep a copy of each other content through a newtwork using the LOCKSS software as a mechanism to keep track of any change. The presentation will shortly introduce what TDX and MetaArchive is but will, in a practical way, show how the LOCKSS network for presrervation works. Finally a summary of the benefits of the overall experience will be shown.

Editor de imágenes por capas y con anotaciones

El proyecto se desarrolla en el marco de un convenio de colaboración entre la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona y la empresa UNIT4 en las oficinas de UNIT4 Ibérica en Barberà del Vallès. El proyecto tiene por finalidad crear un control que permita la edición de imágenes mediante capas y anotaciones, que se añadirá al software de gestión empresarial que comercializa UNIT4. Este control está desarrollado en la plataforma Java.

Generación de interfaces para aplicaciones por línea de comandos

Generación dinámica de interfaces web basadas en ficheros descriptivos XML para el control de la parametrización compleja y ejecución de programas por línea de comandos. La necesidad surge con la aplicación mlcoalsim, utilizada por investigadores de la UAB, cuya parametrización requiere la edición manual de un fichero de texto la sintaxis del cual es complicada y pesada. Con la generación de interfaces web se pretende ayudar a los usuarios en la correcta parametrización y ejecución de aplicaciones como mlcoalsim.

Experimentació amb eina d'àudio i vídeo a la carta i arxiu multidocumental en entorn web

L'objectiu d'aquest pràcticum és treballar amb una eina d'edició i catalogació remota de vídeos accessible via internet. L'eina ha estat desenvolupada per l'empresa Vision Robotics. La memòria reflecteix les experiències viscudes a través del treball amb aquesta eina i analitza les possibilitats de millora, les potencialitats de l'eina a més d'afegir unes reflexions finals de l'eina en general.

Disseny i prototipatge d'un sistema d'events per a dispositius mòbils en el treball en grup

Un aspecte important dels sistemes online de treball en grup és l'anomenat "awarenness", és a dir mantenir informats els membres del grup de tot allò que ocorre en l'espai de grup. La premissa és que si els membres del grup estan informats sobre el que passa dins l'espai del grup, com ara lectura de documents, modificació de documents, nous documents, noves fites del calendari, etc., doncs això pot incrementar la productivitat del grup i per tant els resultats acadèmics. Aquest enfocament ja s'aplica en sistemes web. Aquest projecte tractaria d'estudiar com estendre aquest model a dispositius mòbils per tal d'aplicar així el paradigma "anytime, anywhere", és a dir estar informat en tot moment i en qualsevol lloc.

L'objectiu d'aquest treball és dissenyar i avaluar un sistema de protecció del copyright mitjançant detecció de còpia amb utilització de marques d'aigua. El producte resultant és un programa capaç d'enterrar la identitat d'un comprador en una imatge determinada.

A compositional data analysis package for R providing multiple approaches

”compositions” is a new R-package for the analysis of compositional and positive data.It contains four classes corresponding to the four different types of compositional andpositive geometry (including the Aitchison geometry). It provides means for computation,plotting and high-level multivariate statistical analysis in all four geometries.These geometries are treated in an fully analogous way, based on the principle of workingin coordinates, and the object-oriented programming paradigm of R. In this way,called functions automatically select the most appropriate type of analysis as a functionof the geometry. The graphical capabilities include ternary diagrams and tetrahedrons,various compositional plots (boxplots, barplots, piecharts) and extensive graphical toolsfor principal components. Afterwards, ortion and proportion lines, straight lines andellipses in all geometries can be added to plots. The package is accompanied by ahands-on-introduction, documentation for every function, demos of the graphical capabilitiesand plenty of usage examples. It allows direct and parallel computation inall four vector spaces and provides the beginner with a copy-and-paste style of dataanalysis, while letting advanced users keep the functionality and customizability theydemand of R, as well as all necessary tools to add own analysis routines. Use and availability of scholarly journals in Catalan academic libraries

This paper presents the results of a survey of academics affiliated to the universities that are members of the Consortium of Academic Libraries of Catalonia (CBUC), and an analysis of the availability in the libraries of these universities, of the references cited in a sample of articles published by these academics. The results reflect the major importance that researchers assign to scholarly journals as the main source of scientific information. Most state that they use electronic journals either exclusively or in any case more than print journals, a preference that is higher among younger scholars. With regard to frequency of reading, four out of ten researchers state that they read journals virtually every day, while nine out of ten report that they do so at least once a week. Scholars claim that the obstacles they face when trying to download an article are related to the lack of subscriptions. However, the availability study showed that most of the articles cited in their publications are available at least at one of the CBUC libraries. Though most researchers keep a copy of the articles they consult, just over a third of them use some kind of reference management software.

Els apareguts i el culte de les ànimes del Purgatori (segles XIV-XVII). Estudi i edició de textos catalans

Report for the scientific sojourn carried out at the Institut National d'Histoire de l'Art (INHA), France, from 2010 to 2012. It has focused on the analysis and editing of tales of human apparitions from the other world belonging to the Catalan culture or referring to it. We have studied and edited different versions of the process of Esperança Alegre (Lleida, 1500) and the Peregrinació del Venturós Pelegrí. These medieval works have been preserved in sources of the late sixteenth century or later. We have located a manuscript of the Esperança Alegre's tale, unknown to us at the beginning of this research (Biblioteca Nacional de España, ms. 1701), which differs from the version of ms. Baluze 238 of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. The scribe of the ms. 1701 adds several paragraphs where considers the case as a diabolical phantasmagoria. About the Venturós Pelegrí, we have tried to establish firm criteria for the classification of many editions from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. We have been looking for printed books in the libràries of the world and we have made several requests for photographic reproductions, in order to classify undated editions by comparing woodcuts and other decorative elements. In the legend of Prince Charles of Viana (1421-1461), the appearances of his ghost are accompanied by rumors of his poisoning and of his sanctity. In addition, we have studied the cycles of masses for the souls in Purgatory linked to the hagiographies of St. Amadour and St. Vincent Ferrer, as well as the appearances described in L'Ànima d’Oliver of Francesc Moner, in the Carmelite chronicles of Father John of St. Joseph (1642-1718) and in some folktales collected from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. All this have allowed us to verify the evolution of certain cultural paradigms since the Middle Ages to the present.
