Gestão de resíduos hospitalares numa unidade prestadora de cuidados de saúde

RESUMO - Nos tempos que decorrem sabe-se que o meio ambiente é uma preocupação constante, uma vez que se encontra ameaçado pela poluição produzida pela humanidade. No ambiente hospitalar, também a poluição se encontra presente no dia-a-dia através, por exemplo, dos resíduos hospitalares. Estes são um risco para os trabalhadores, utentes, e para a população em geral. Como tal, torna-se importante gerir estes resíduos de modo a diminuir ao máximo todos estes danos. Assim, surge o tema de todo este trabalho de projecto: Gestão de Resíduos Hospitalares numa Unidade Prestadora de Cuidados de Saúde. Ao longo de todo este estudo serão abordadas as fases desta mesma gestão, bem como será construído um instrumento de colheita de dados que permita identificar a percepção de alguns funcionários em relação à mesma. ------------ABSTRACT - Nowadays, it is known that the environment is a constant concern, once that it is threatened by pollution produced by mankind. In the hospital environment, pollution is also present everyday through hospital wastes. These are considered a risk to the workers, regular patients and general population. As such, it is important to manage these wastes. With this action, it is possible to decrease all damages concerning the environment. Therefore, this study emerges: “Management of hospital wastes in Health Care Units” Along this study, there will be addressed the different phases of its management, as well as there will be built an instrument of data collection, so that it will be possible to identify the perception of the different workers.

Oil price shocks and the Portuguese economy since the 1970s

This paper assesses empirically the effect of oil price shocks on Portuguese aggregate economic activity, industrial production and price level. We take the usual multivariate VAR methodology to investigate the magnitude and stability of this relationship. In doing so, we follow the approach presented in the recent literature and adopt different oil price specifications. We conclude that, as for most industrialized countries, the nature of this relationship changed in the mid-1980s. Furthermore, we show that the main Portuguese macroeconomic variables have become progressively less responsive to oil shocks and the adjustment towards equilibrium has become increasingly faster.

Analysis and treatment of a nineteenth century oil painting

This thesis focused on the study and treatment of a 19th century female portrait in oil from ECOMUSEU Municipal do Seixal, Portugal. The portrait, which depicts Isabel Maria Lourenço Affonso was in poor condition and a large strip of paint and canvas was missing (approximately 9cm by 66cm, almost 11% of the total surface area). The portrait is a companion piece to a male portrait (the relationship was established as part of this study), therefore a technical study of both paintings was considered essential to support the choices made during the treatment. The project involved three main areas: - The study of the history, condition, materials and techniques of both paintings. This allowed their comparison and understanding of their relationship; - The treatment of Isabel Maria Lourenço Affonso. The choices made and problems encountered are described. - The production of a replacement for the missing strip of paint and canvas. The practical solution developed to overcome such an unusual challenge is described along with the creative and flexible thinking required. Because not all traditional infill materials cope well on a mechanical level with thin layers over a very large surface (many are too brittle), strict criteria had to be employed to choose the appropriate material. The primary goal was to find a fill which would remain flexible and be capable of accepting surface texture, such that there would be a good visual match with the painting. Analysis and testing was carried out to evaluate the physical properties of the fill material chosen, BEVA® Gesso-P. Determination of the most suitable oil pipeline route using GIS least cost path analysis

The Keystone XL has a big role for transforming Canadian oil to the USA. The function of the pipeline is decreasing the dependency of the American oil industry on other countries and it will help to limit external debt. The proposed pipeline seeks the most suitable route which cannot damage agricultural and natural water recourses such as the Ogallala Aquifer. Using the Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques, the suggested path in this study got extremely high correct results that will help in the future to use the least cost analysis for similar studies. The route analysis contains different weighted overlay surfaces, each, was influenced by various criteria (slope, geology, population and land use). The resulted least cost path routes for each weighted overlay surface were compared with the original proposed pipeline and each displayed surface was more effective than the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.
